Why Inside Out 2 Is The Perfect Pixar Sequel

Probably my favorite thing about the film was how it was shown how much Joy has changed. You can see she really appreciates Sadness and the other emotions now, which is wonderful considering how other Pixar sequels make the protagonist learn their lesson all over again.

I just saw Inside Out 2 I can confidently say it’s a flawless masterpiece! This is prime Pixar at its best! This is the Pixar we know and love. This may be a little controversial, but I think Inside Out 2 might be my new #1 favorite Pixar movie. Inside Out 2 made me feel something I’ve never felt before. There isn’t a word for it, it just felt special, or heartwarming! That’s the best way I can describe it. The minute the music started playing in the beginning, I immediately started crying of happiness because I remembered how amazing the original was. Keep in mind I’m 21 years old and I rarely ever cry at all. It takes a lot to get me to cry, and for Pixar to be able to crack at that and get me to cry should say something. Inside Out relates to me and almost everyone because we all express emotions and growing up can be a challenge especially teenage years. Spoiler: I like how Rileys anxiety attack was portrayed. Anxiety gave Riley to much pressure so that she can be perfect at hockey and be the best player. Riley attacked her teammates so that she can score 3 points. When Riley hit her friend, Anxiety pressed the buttons over and over and it created a tornado. She was faster than the speed of light. When Joy tried to stop her, she was standing still and was crying for realising that she gave Riley to much pressure. I like how the music gets serious and the heart pumping when Riley got an heart attack. It made me cry because I also experienced a panic attack like Riley got. Its on the same level like the puss in boots one. Also I love that Anxiety wasnt a villain but more a anti villain.

2024 has been the craziest year in terms of sequels.

No WAY, now that's what I'm talking about, another Pixar success. Who knew, this is the best one yet after Toy Story 4, many people do say that Cars 2 being a failure or Pixar's first bad movie, although this does lead to so many regrets that even Pixar wished Cars 2 never exist, and Lightyear, or possibly Monster's University considering it's either unnecessary to make or should've happened first, and the irony about Brave is due to it winning an Oscar, it's either a disappointment or not much of a Pixar movie, Onward could've been done better if COVID-19 never happened, still don't know the hate and disappointment to The Good Dinosaur, but the death of Arlo's dad does seem dark for younger viewers, and for those who believed Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 were bad sequels, you are DEAD wrong, same how they think Luca, Turning Red, and Elemental were bad, but they're all good and beautiful in their own ways. Another reason why the phrase "Everyone's a Critic" shouldn't be too literal or how bad writing and bad directors were the main reason why some things aren't supposed to be made, anyway, let's hope Inside Out 2 win an Oscar next year, although sometimes I wished they made this a long time ago.💜😱❤️😡🩷😳🧡😰💛😃💜🥱🩵🥹💚🤢💙😢

Anxiety is a great antagonist

I had doubts about this sequel, how can it live to the reputation of the first. Luckily, those doubts turn into praise and is happy to see Pixar still got it!!! Just let the team alone and wait until a great script is locked in instead of rushing through.

As I expected... Instead of just Joy and Sadness leaving Headquarters for a perilous journey...it's the whole core emotions... Being forced out of Headquarters by the new emotions!

Major spoiler!!! You have been warned. The thing that got me at the end was the panic attack. I’ve had several in the past few years as a teenager and they show it really well. When having a panic attack, you can’t let go at the moment. Yet you don’t have a good grasp either. You’re in this endless loop about what could go wrong, what will people think. And eventually your brain kind of just freezes. And as shown it took someone else to get anxiety to even just let go of the controls. It’s like that in real life too, it’s really hard to get out of a panic attack by yourself. It takes someone else saying, hey, everything’s going to be ok. And even then it’s still not fixed, you’re still very sensitive when getting out of one. And it takes time for you to get back on your feet. Shown in her mind and real life with her it took joy, and her friends to get her out of it. And she wasn’t recovered till after they said they were still friends. I’m writing this after I watched the movie 30 minutes ago.

Inside Out 2 was FAR better than I was expecting out of a non-Toy Story Pixar sequel and expanded the world and characters in meaningful ways, making Riley an infinitely more enjoyable and relatable character; giving all the emotions a meaningful role to play in the story; and packing a hefty punch in its overall message about learning to cope with anxiety and understanding your emotions on a deeper level, as Joy and Anxiety needed to understand each other to give Riley balance! Easily the best Pixar sequel since Toy Story 3! 🔥

I haven't seen the movie yet, but this is honestly rlly surprising considering Disney and Pixar's recent downhill. Now I'm convinced to go and watch it one day.

The writers did a good job of maintaining the core premise of the world, while adding new elements (new emotions, sense of self, Joy and Anger are not always happy or angry, respectively) in a natural way

Pixar sequels that work for me: - Toy Story 2 - Toy Story 3 - Monsters University (yes it is a prequel, whatever) - Cars 3 (this movie has some issues but it is a worthy follow-up to the original in my opinion) - Inside Out 2 (genuinely enjoyable, very well done) (Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 were both good for a watch through but I don't care to revisit them. I haven't watched Toy Story 4.)

I saw Inside Out 2 yesterday evening! While a few more scenes could have been added to tie up loose ends, this movie was really great!

It was very apparent... Iger's influence is not in this movie...resulting in a new breakout sequel. Veteran characters undergo new struggles, new characters become welcome additions to the cast. New territories in Riley's mind are explored... And the heroes have to save the day together!

Issues that prevented some of the prior pixar movies from greatness. Soul: he should have stayed dead at the end. Luca: More focus should have been on family abandonment instead of the frienship trio (the importance of family in Italian culture should have been the central focus and not winning the Vespa and hanging out with friends). Turning red: climactic battle should have been an internal focus and not an external focus (aka the godzila sized panda fight shoud not have represented the final conflict between Mae and her mom). Lightyear: shouldn't have exsisted. (if they did want to really focus on Buzz, then remake the TV series with his Galactic Command Team).

This movie did better then kfp4 and Garfield movie (2024)

I haven't seen this movie yet but I am exited for it! I think it looks great. i like that they made Angzitity a chrarictor. TLDR: its basically the same movie and joy learns the same lesson but in a worse way, rileys story was cool Honestly in my opinion inside out 2 is very very samey, its pretty much the exact same story where the core memories have to be retrieved in the first, the sense of self (i forgot what its called) has to be retrieved in the second and we watch riley struggle with both the change thats going outside and the change of having less emotions on the inside. the new emotions are also basically useless and do nothing besides anxiety of which i feel is basically just fear. in my opinion the new emotions dont feel different enough to feel needed. in the second it also feels like we dont see that many new things in the mind ik we get a few but it doesnt hit the same as the first. I will say rileys story was different, and i was really engaged in her hockey camp story but man the emotions and their story was just the exact same to me. they even kinda redo bing bong where they meet a wacky character who has a tool that helps at the end with bing bongs ship and dora dogs pouch. overall i feel like inside out 2 is a movie that did not need to exist. the two even have the same lesson at the end for joy where in both movies joy learns all emotions are useful and you cant always have joy. although in the first joy learns this slowly overtime in moments like seeing sadness talk with bing bong and how he needed to feel sad to help him through his emotions and in the second she just magically learns it in the last 5 mins. joy doesnt see any positivity from the other emotions to learn from its all negative and when she does the dynamite stuff she just learns that all emotions are good quite literally just because.

Inside Out 2 is NOT better than the first movie. Inside Out 2 is better than Toy Story 4.

Inside Out 2 feels so much smaller. The "Sarcasm" and "Brainstorm" are great world building, but they don't work too well as roadblocks because they aren't really a result of Riley's conflicting emotions. They're just a result of Riley growing up/literally thinking! (In the first movie, the roadblocks were Riley as a person breaking apart). Good movie- that I wish didn't try to copy the same formula of the first movie and would have expressed its strong themes in a better way. Great humor, themes, and world building, but bad plot, and too fast paced so it's emotional beats felt...rushed?

Since Pixar has retaken their rightful place as the greatest studio of all time, here are some Pixar videos I requested. Ranking every Pixar movie of the 2020s.( you ranked all the dreamworks movies of this decade from trolls2 to kfp4, and then every Sony animated movie from TMVTM to Garfield, I figure it’s Pixar’s turn. I want you to rank every Pixar movie this decade from onward to inside Out 2.) Which Pixar movies deserve sequels( you talked about which dreamworks movies need sequels {mostly disagreed with that video but opinions} but I figure you could do the same for Pixar. My brief thoughts are that Pixar should definitely return to franchises like monsters and incredibles but do it right this time{maybe even finding franchise even though that would be harder} continue with inside Out{let it replace toy Story so that franchise can finally rest} and even give elemental a chance to become a franchise but definitely don’t ever make sequels to masterpieces like ratatouille Walle up coco or soul. A cars spinoff could work though.) Why dreamworks keeps copying Pixar ( everyone knows about the ants/bugs life thing but turbo is also a carbon copy of ratatouille. Ruby Gillman knocked off Luca’s premise Orion and the Dark is eerily similar to inside Out, and even kfp4 stole the “passing the torch” plot from cars3. I think the answer is while dreamworks have their fair share of good movies they can never keep it up, and they have a lot more bad movies than Pixar, so they try to copy them hoping to mooch of their critical and commercial success. Could Pixar replace dreamworks( what I mean by that is if Pixar learn from IO2 and dreamworks don’t clean up their act Pixar could become the king of sequels. Sure Pixar have toy Story 5 but they have inside Out 3 and incredibles 3, meanwhile the only decent sounding sequels dreamworks has in store is bad guys 2 {even then if they mess it up it could be a rushed sci-fi mess} they are also milking kfp to death, boss Baby franchise still exists, Shrek 5 is coming which is not needed because Shrek 4 was the perfect ending. I never actually requested that one unlike the others which I had been waiting a month for, but it is still a topic I want to see you discuss.) Inside Out 2 just feels like a lot of the same to me. Where one or more emotions get kicked out of the main area, chaos happens, and then the emotions come back. The overall person feels better for it. I swear if they make an Inside Out 3, they've got to take it in a different direction.
