Good morning Sven, this system seems like a great system for those that wish to use Apple CarPlay on a motorcycle or even use it in a car, at a relatively low cost. I’ve been using Apple CarPlay on my Africa Twin 1100, as it is standard OEM fit. Really like it, as I use Apple CarPlay in my car and truck, I find it very useful. I love listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks as well as using navigation. I also found a solution for TPMS for the African Twin 1100, using FOBO 2 rider, which supports Apple CarPlay, so you can monitor tyre pressures on screen and get warnings if you have a puncture. All controlled by the bikes switch gear, and Siri. I know some don’t want or need such technology on their bikes, but I love it, makes my journeys all the more enjoyable. 👍
It's very clever. But I am a simple is best man. Music? Messages? Not for me I'm afraid Raw, pure undiluted riding. I just have to admit that I am getting old I guess, Sven! Although I can see why it would suit a lot of people. Ride safe 👍
thanks Sven for this useful video. It also seems like a nice solution to me, but aren't you concerned about the fact that your smartphone battery drains very quickly during use? this provides all the computing power. I also saw that the motorcycle world nowadays uses peak design motor holders that are very user-friendly and ensure little vibration? I haven't quite figured it out yet. thank you very much for this video. Greetings Nick
Hi I use an iPhone 14 Plus, never had any problem with too much battery drain on a day trip. I usually charge my phone at night so it should be good. But I have an USB output extra for the phone to charge while riding. (or to charge other equipment). Charging cable is long enough from dash to my pocket.
For asphalt rides I only need the CarPlay screen. And strictly also for track when using a CarPlay compatible app like Guru Maps. But far away from urban areas I would prefer a dedicated GPS for reliability.
