@Tryeasy. Exactly yes. A couple of generations ago Linus VanPelt had his blanket. Today most Americans hold their security blankets in the same way, even tighter. At least the blanket did not transmit DNA disrupting microwaves to keep him warm.
i always thought the iphone 5s was the best design ever cuz of its flat sharp edges that look super minimalistic, now the iphone 12 is going back to to the same concept i’ll be so excited to buy it
i don't think so i think after a while when apple gets comfortable with the screen size and everything theyll focus a lot on software. I also think theyll keep changed the camera set up.
Two words: Battery Life Everyone wants the convenience of a phone that fits in your pocket. In 07 you could have all day battery life with a smaller form factor. With the more powerful phones we have now, you need a larger form factor. Plus there are other factors, but I would say the battery shapes how manufacturers design phones the most.
iPhones batteries suck no matter how big the phone is. Good luck getting through the day with your 11 Pro with heavy usage. Samsung is better but not for a lot. The reason they’re getting bigger is also because we spent most of our free time in them and having a big screen while still being able to have it in your pocket is a blessing
What I loved most about the iPhone was holding it in one hand and interacting with it with the other hand or fingers. My first iPhone was the 3G in 2009 and it’s visible to see that they’re getting bigger and turning into ‘Phablets’.
The irony is that back then phones were big and heavy and people wanted the opposite, and now, when we have the technology to made them smaller and lighter, we want them BIG
@OrangeCarnation🧡iPadMini6 headphone jack could have fitted in the iPhone as long as the phone is at least 3.7mm thick, nothing is stopping them except the push for their wireless headphones
Great content! I remember the iPhone 5s being the holy grail of iPhones, everyone around me always loved how perfectly sized it was. I had trouble with my first iPhone 6 when it came out, regretting my decision of selling the 5. Today i have an XR and honestly wouldn't trade it.
You probably don’t like having big screens then, I used to have an iPhone 4s and it looks tiny compared to my iPhone 6 Plus and current iPhone 13 Pro Max lol
WOLFY nah I still think it would’ve became atleast a 5 inches at some point. I still believe that the 7Plus 5.5” screen is actually really big despite the phone itself actually being bigger than the X and following models which had a bigger screen anyway.
im glad apple is making their phones thicker but i doubt the market would fallow them but if they also put a headphone jack in the phone as well that would be a buy for me
My first smartphone was a Blackberry 7210 I got for my 18th birthday in 2003. I thought it was the most revolutionary thing ever until I got the iPhone the day it was released in ‘07. And now looking at my 11 Pro Max and thinking back to how far we’ve come in what is really a short period of time (only 16 years)...it’s truly astounding.
Can we finally start thinking of these things as phones and call them what they really are: personal pocket computers? Regular desktop computers can make phone calls and communicate but we don’t call them phones. Talking on the phone is probably not the most common activity on these things anymore.
I absolutely need and use the reachability feature since I went for Max. I used to laugh to myself when I saw how some people used really large text on their iPhones & now I’m doing the same thing...old eyes 😂
What I got from this is that Samsung was right, people made fun of them when they released the first Galaxy Note calling it a "phlabet" or "phoblet" and making memes of how big it was, then everyone started copping even Apple.
They called it a Phablet, although really it isn’t a bad name for it anyways. It’s really just saying it’s a Tablet in the form of a phone which really the Galaxy Note already kind of is, The Note is a line that does really push a limit compared to the S line (Except the S20 Ultra because that camera is a pure beast) and sets a high example for Samsung Phones makes me wonder how the Note20 will be this year.
I’ll never forget how huge and ginormous the 6+ screen felt. Now that size feels just about normal, but I don’t have to strain my eyes to use my phone 😊👍
Brian Tran I switched from an SE to the iPhone 11 Pro and while I love my new phone, I do miss my SE. Because the SE had the perfect size. I could use it with one hand, no problem.
We’re gonna keep pushing for bigger and chunkier phones until that trend becomes too extreme and ridiculous, and then the phone trend will flip upside-down and thinner and lighter (and probably smaller) phones will become the norm again
Adews, what about Samsung? You’re saying that “iPhones are getting bigger so they don’t fit a headphone jack” Samsung note 10 is 5.9 inch , NO headphone jack. While iPhone 11 pro is 5.8 inch. What is wrong with you? Put “Samsung’s and iPhones” in there, not only iPhone
The My Singing Monsters Fan Jacks Gaming and Vlogs , KINDA... Microsoft HAD (now unsupported) a thing called WINDOWS MOBILE, that to bridge with Windows 10 desktop/ laptops and Surface tablets, but wasn't exactly "kosher" since Windows full OS wasn't designed with ARM processors (the ones used by both wireless phones and tablets) in mind.
I'm always using Reachability on my iPhone XS, and will do on next year's device, hoping that it remains on next year's flagship. I'd love to know how many users use it though, is that even something that can be measured by Apple?
that did well in East Asia where the larger screen size and pen made it easy to input Easy Asian text even if that first "phablet" form factor didn't do well in North America and Europe.
Honestly, yeah. Some people would rather have the home button, a headphone jack, and a compact phone size. Apple is loosing those customers, who might just end up going back to using flip-phones or go the black market to get those old iPhones. Or maybe they'll trade new phones with people who rather have big ones.
I remember when I was at a house party at one of my friends house when I first saw an iPhone and we talked about how convenient it was and how far we have come the iPhone literally put every tech gadget you need in the palm of your hand look at how far it has come today, people forget that we didn’t have this luxury back then and seeing so much hate and complaints about little things like which is better is nonsense but I guess that’s part of innovation.
Honestly, because of how the display is designed, the 11 Pro is like the perfect form factor to me. I can still use it with one hand even if some things are a stretch it can be done. But damn is the display immersive! I love that! The colors are super accurate and with dark mode enabled the screen is just a pleasure to look at! Also, Apple putting a bigger battery in 11 Pro was the best decision they’ve made in years! My 11 Pro gets me through an entire day of very heavy no problem. Google maps and streaming music pretty much all day at work plus Bluetooth on the entire time! I average 8-10 hours screen time! The 11 Pro is easily the best smartphone I’ve ever used. Display, battery, performance, build, speakers, reception....it does it all extremely well!
Apple Explained I really love your videos! I only found your channel about 2 weeks ago & have spent all my free time going through all your videos. Really love the straight forward & clean format!
You know the world changed to what it is now when the iphone came out in 2007. If it wasn’t for that, we might still be with phones similar to pre-iphone and same with technology.
I wouldn’t mind if the next iPhones become a bit thicker, from the current 8.1 mm to 8.5 mm thick body, cause then it would have an even bigger and better battery than the already impressive batteries on the pro and pro max.
They need to stop it.. my first BIG phone was the note2. I thought it was great but the novelty wore off after a few months. I went to the s4 and had a couple other 5"ers until I got the 2016 se. I loved that thing and never wanted another big phone again. I held onto it for four years but eventually needed an upgrade so I went for the 2020 se. It still feels huge after a month but I know I'll get used to it. Regardless, I'd rather still have a 4". Don't think I don't use it much.. I use the hell out of my phones but I still want them to be comfortable in the pocket and ACTUALLY usable with one hand.. I see all these reviewers awkwardly stretching across the screen and saying "oh yeah, I can use it one handed!" Lol. Bullshit. Try answering a text while you're walking down the street on a 5+" device. Awkward, ain't it? I'm not into bezel-less either. They look good but just ain't comfortable to use. I use friends monstrous, all screen devices all the time and I'll take my "dated" iPhone any day. My phone isn't a fashion statement.
It's ironic because I think the 2016 iphone se looks far better than these new iphones that just look like a glorified tablet. I really like looking at the bezels and the home button. It's very aesthetic.
@@jseden It would be amazing if they just upgraded the camera, cpu, ram on the old iphone se and sold it in 2022. I've been really happy with my iphone 2020 because I find the 4.7 inch screen to be the happy medium of a larger screen while still being able to hold it but I'd be really tempted to grab an upgraded 1st gen iphone se if they beefed up the internals. I would hold onto that iphone se as long as you can because I have a feeling one day it will be worth more money. The main reason I even went with the newer iphone se was just because I liked the better camera on the 2nd gen se but in all honesty, it's not that much of an upgrade.
@@crate2819 i intend to hang onto it. I had to upgrade because the battery was absolutely shot and the 16gb wasn't cutting it anymore... Especially when you need several gigs for a significant upgrade. However i always used a case and screen protector so it's still in 9/10 condition. Yea the 2nd gen has a better camera but I really didn't feel like It was that much of an upgrade... Mounting it to my motorcycles destroyed the ois anyway. I've got hella shaky cam now, somewhat remedied by a small magnet but it's far from perfect. I'm torn between getting it fixed and just getting a 12 mini now.
Because that‘s what the market demands, and i like it. Would like a phone same size as the Max but with a larger screen like 6.7 inch, cut down on the bezels / notch
@@ScottTangents That one is outdated and way too small now. And the battery life on those small phones is also pretty bad. There's a reason why there is no new 4" SE from Apple. The smallest one that sells is probably the 4.7" iPhone 6 - 8 size. Also there is no current Android phone anymore that has a similar size to the SE. I currently have the 8 Plus and i love it, i can't imagine going back to a smaller screen.
Passion AG phones are just too big I missed when you can actually fit an iPhone in your pockets. Now even the back pocket is too small for these new iPhones it’s ridiculous!
@@ScottTangents I wear them in the front pocket, and i can carry my Plus phone around easily. You get used to it after a couple days it's a normal size for me and the screen is amazing when it comes to reading or watching videos / gaming. Battery life is amazing too
Reachability is a feature that I always use when I have only one hand to operate, such as while in bed, so reachability is a deal breaker for me at least
Apple is still right, the perfect smartphone should be reachable with a single hand. The problem is, people now use it for what it was not meant (playing games and watching videos, TV and PC were meant for that), so manufacturers have to make them bigger. Also, people perceive a larger display as better quality and tech. If you show them a 100€ 6" phone and a 500€ 4.3" one, they'll assume the 6" one is better and has better tech.
The iPhone 6 with the edge to edge screen and internals of the iPhone 12 and the design of the iPhone 4 would be the perfect iPhone, and all the tech exists. Not that much to even ask for tbh.
It seems the majority of users prefer the large phone, but there is still a sizeable minority that like a small pocketable phone. It sounds like from next year Apple will be fulfilling both those wishes with 5.3 inch display and 6.8 inch display options. I put myself very much in the smaller phone category, as I will use an iPad when I want a larger screen
While I liked most of the video I don't feel you did justice to the pre-iPhone smartphones, they were usable and people even played games and even (gasp) sometimes watched videos on them! But they were made for a nice market, most companies were aiming their products for business users and made their devices fit what they thought the average business user wanted. What made the iPhone special was that it was not aimed at any particular market (except those who could afford it), so it was essentially a computer that could also make calls, it was an all singing all dancing computer in your pocket that was for anyone. I cannot deny though how the iPhone changed the smartphone market for the better, making it accessible for millions, and lets not forget Android users like myself too!
I upgraded from the SE, and believe me I love my iPhone 11 Pro! All day battery life is amazing like genuinely can’t believe I was using an SE. also the screen is soooo awesome because it’s OLED and even tho I use it two handed it’s not a big deal. I can use it one handed too but it really doesn’t matter
hTC and Samsung pressured Apple to increase its iPhone's screen size. I can't believe that back in 2013, Apple was still using a small 4 inch display on its flagship iPhone 5S while all of its competitors already had displays beyond 4 inches for their non-phablet smartphones.
I miss the (G)olden days when Palm devices were the pocket computers for business people and regular people worried about being reachable if they bought a tiny little Nokia brick. Mails were to be viewed the next day at work and the computer at home (if there was one) was used by the whole family to play Solitaire, mine sweeper, tetris... And mom nagged because she had to use the land line to call someone because using the Nokia dad eventually surprised her with was too expensive.
I agree phones needed to be bigger because phones less then 5 inches inches was pretty small. But Now some are almost 7 inches and I think that's a bit to much. 6 to 6.5 inches sounds to me like the absolute max a phone size should be
I still have a dead iPhone 5 and a blackberry, it’s so small in my hand, and I’m not even a big person, and I realized that smartphone back then is that small. And for me the size like iPhone 11 or the pro model is just fit, for browsing, typing or watching movies
You should explain why the iPhone camera from the XS to the newest 11 / 11 Max camera reflection / glare / flare problem. No big tech RU-vidd are willing to cover this issue.
iphone 6 & iphone 8 got the perfect 4,7“ display size. one handed operation is king and it fits nicely in your pocket. the pro models were waaay too huge like whyy??! im afraid too switch to some future 5.4“ screen model even labeled as ‚mini‘... lets see
The trend of getting thicker and heavier actually started on the iPhone 6s, not the X. The iPhone 7 was almost unnoticeably lighter and kept the same width so it basically shouldn’t count as the last time Apple made a smaller phone
