Thanks so much Dr Marc - fascinating as always!❤ I've often wondered if Dimash's penchant for high contrast clothing and big gestures, might come partly from his experiences of singing in larger halls and venues? Not only would more subtle movements simply go unseen by the majority of his audience - therefore lessening their engagement - but perhaps the way he "conducts" the music visually, might also lend a kind of subliminal clarity to the sound and lyrics, in locations with variable acoustic and equipment levels? - I'd love to hear any of your further thoughts!🤔 Anyways, thanks again for another interesting and informative video - sending much love and my very best wishes to you, from here in the UK :) ❤👌🙏😘🇬🇧

Very interesting and informative reaction as always. I really appreciate. Well I prefer the Kazakh version of this song but that’s my personal taste. The Kazakh language is more pleasant to my ears and I think Dimash performs slightly better in his mother tongue. Please react to Samaltau at Tokyo Jazz Festival on his RU-vid channel. I‘m really curious what you think about it.

Hey Dr Marc! Spot on analysis. You're so right on those big gestures. Dimash on stage to me is the expression of freedom in art, a natural impulse, unrestrained as the wind, a typhoon in Your Love, then gentle wisps in his recent song for the Chinese event- Classical Wings- thousands of miles a common dream. I'm hoping you'll react to that too, ooh and Samaltau (the lockdown version) from his home studio. Please please🤗 always enjoy your analyses of D.

The first 2 sentences where you explained the circles, what he sang actually means "No matter what turns and cycles in life, in love, we end up lonely on our own" So what you explained is actually correct! It is very beutifully structured in Chinese words but a bit difficult to translate due to the indirect meaning. If we are to do a direct translation, it's not so nice.

I agree that he is slim, but he is also 6'3" tall. This is one reason (I believe) that he kneels when he get close to the edge of the stage and near his Dears. He wants to come down closer to their level instead of towering over them.

I always enjoy your analysis of any music but especially Dimash as I learn a lot. Something I have noticed when he does the more intricate runs he often faces sideways or if front his focus is not the audience it is like he loses himself for a time in the phrase and he is seeing where he is going. I often think he is literally seeing the notes.

I think that it's about learning to open yourself to an audience and allowing yourself to be natural, which is what Dimash is. When he was a younger performer he just used to stand up and sing, with maybe a few big movements. He wasn't as dramatic as his is now, I have no idea what caused him to be more expressive but I'm not complaining
@kolgerrard1964
@kolgerrard1964 4 года назад
You should know an Opera house is also called " musical theater " one of the elements you learn from classical training is the flare for dramatics but the reason you don't see it as much is that almost all high caliber classical singers perform inside musical theaters . The performances outside and the recorded performances are the minority but you can still see the element of drama even in the looks and small movements that great opera singers do . Pavarotti always did sing while standing in his place but his facial expressions , the looks he gave the audience and the tone of his voice were enough to grab everyone's attention .

@kolgerrard1964
@kolgerrard1964 4 года назад
@@arwengarraway9143 honestly I don't know , he has been on stage since he was 5 but he recently learned to use his body like you said to express emotions and control the crowd , also he took his flare for the dramatics to the next level . What caused the change ?? Maybe more fame caused him to gain more confidence but That's just my guess .

@@kolgerrard1964 Haha, it was a rhetorical question but thanks for trying. Maybe Lara Fabian influenced him in this aspect? But him jumping down on his knees must be his own thing
@kolgerrard1964
@kolgerrard1964 4 года назад
@@arwengarraway9143 I'm sorry If I'm mistaken here but I think we argued about Dimash lip syncing before , If I remember right you thought he lip synced Sinful Passion because he moved the Mic around and I was arguing that he only moves the Mic when he changes the frequency , I still stand by that don't use Mic movement unless the singer was singing on the same pitch and moving the Mic with no changes in volume . But if you're still curious , he never sang the last part live in one take , sometimes he did the crassendo and the crazy belt but the long note was playback & sometimes it was the opposite . Also , Ogni Pietra ( Olimpico ) was always full playback except two times ( VTB Arena & Kremlin Palace ) where he did sing almost 70% of the song live ( the baritone parts & the tenor parts & some of the soprano parts ) but he never did it fully live .

As usual I am utterly astounded by the amount of knowledge that just flows from your brain with such ease. You are unique among all the reactors. I can only guess you are one of the top stage performance analysts in the country (if not the world!) I have a question about Dimash's singing which I have never heard discussed by any reactor. Dimash has a very unusual vibrato that he sometimes uses. It is a very fast vibrato that sounds (to me) slightly East European or Asian? He uses this in the latter half of this song. When I have listened to Dimash sing as a child or young teen it is always present and is very bright, dominant and pronounced. I've wondered if it is a Kazakh singing style. Have you noticed it and what do you think?
