Well the Budget I listen to was much better than I thought it might be. A lot was covered. I hope we will see some nice normal coming and no more BS from the other guys...
Financial services isn't the only sector that will be hit hard. All employers will be and despite what you might think, they aren't all rich millionaires
Guy who sold a consultancy business saying tax me more on my income not businesses. I wonder if his staff would agree that they should pay more income tax as opposed to the company paying more tax.
this budget absolutely verified that sunak did a terrible job both managing the economy as chancellor and as pm and his reaction to it shows it. it also shows how money can be spent well instead of constantly being spent badly.
People seem to accept that the Tories tanked the economy and that Labour must fix it, but unwilling to accept that there will be pain, a lot of pain, whichever way Labour go. Seems unrealistic to me. Doesn't help that Labour seem so gormless. I want them to succeed, I really do, but they can't seem to say or do anything that gives me comfort that they know what they are doing. In a way though, they are operating in the scorded earth environment the Tories left behind: cannot talk about Brexit, cannot revive HS2, and a repeat of Truss-a-nomics hanging over their heads.
"Everyone" isn't scared of the budget - the rich are. After all, this is the first Labour government budget for years. The media constantly tells the general public how bad it's going to be for everyone. Well, after over a decade of mismanagement and ... re-direction of public finance, then everyone knows it's going to be hard. But it's hardest on all those big Tory donors and chums. After so long of being told "there's nothing wrong", "It's not our fault!", and "Oh look - a scapegoat!", we're not used to someone being honest.
Likewise, I am not scared of the budget. Looking forward to it with excitement. I hope RR has been decisive and ruthless in putting in place the foundations for a turn-around.
The US approach to voting is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. It always seems to descend into some tribal, existential struggle where the fate of the country hangs in the balance. Completely different to how things are in the UK (for now at least). Our last election result was mostly driven by frustration at the Conservatives rather than a fervent belief that Labour were going to be much better.
More short term classist conflicts. Hitting the rich is hitting us all, it's right that we all pay our fair share and not simply expect those who've made a success of themselves and their companies aren't paying for our unsustainable spending
@@supremeworld87 of course it does, they've decided to not freeze thresholds for income tax which means everyone on all tax bands that suddenly earn even slightly more money will paying more tax, on top of that, they've completely lied to the public and business by getting elected on the idea that "we need to get growth before we spend more on services" that was literally reeves entire mantra during the campaign and now she says the opposite, she says we need to spend on public services to get the growth. It's fine to believe that but don't lie about it to get elected. The OBR has already downgraded our growth forecasts for ten years time, so much for the "growth budget" she promised, instead of making genuinly tough decisions she's instead decided to simply borrow billions at high interest rates as well as tax the only growing parts of the economy, it's mental
Increase in employer's NI will hit public services hard. Most especially the NHS which is the largest employer in the UK. Any boost to the government funding of public services is likely to be hoovered up by the employer's NI increase
I agree - it is a beautiful place. I have been to the highlands many times. Also like the accent. A bit cold and windy. How you you stop your pensioners complaining about the cold and why the government is not making it warm for them?
@@theolddog5129 multi layered unders and jumpers on top : ] ... my own mum had to run up & down 3 flights of stone stairs to get my eldest sister a warm bath as an infant, its not right but we are acclimatised to a certain extent.. appropriate clothing and thermals work a treat.... Would never stop pensioners complaining about anything they like btw.
Sorry but i dont think the average person cares about net zero as much as the entrepreneur. Comes across as really tone deaf, the majority of working people have other issues to worry about.
@@michaeladkins6Right at the start she said she will borrow £106 billion next year, £84 billion the year after ,then £76, £72 and £70 billion. Glad I could help.
Depends on why you left... If you somehow voted Green or Reform because of Labour's economical plans then I can't begin to imagine what depths you'd be willing to sink our economy into.
@@Liverpoolboy01 definitely reform voter. Enjoy reading that joke of a manifesto of theirs? The "contract for the people" with all its complete uncosted lunacy 😂
