Levi, here is a sentence that you can use to explain to your fellow realtors and your clients about what living in Texas is like. The difference between Texas and other states; Texas gives you a sensation that you are prosperous and at times a sensation of being rich even if you are not. When you travel to places like New York for example, it gives you a sensation that you are living large at lower cost.

Yes! You are right, Texas is not just the best state, it is the best state by a long shot. The problem is, people who have not lived in Texas yet do not understand it how awesome Texas is until they stand the chance to live in Texas. I think DFW, the greater Houston area even Austin, San Antonio do not get enough credit for the beauty, diversity, the awesome infrastructure, the great lifestyle and opportunities they offer. Mainly (Dallas) DFW does not get enough credit at all for how grand it is.

Only a local person who's never been around the world, or someone who truly prefers to have little to no horizon in his daily life, would think living in a land as endlessly big and endless flat as Texas (on average, compared to California or other states with great varying topography and geology)... is living in the best state! I grew up in California --- but I've driven through & visited close to 45 states & have lived in North Carolina (by the majestic Appalachian foothill, by the Tennessee area) and in Minnesota, for years ---- and while driving through most of Central California, the vast San Joaquin that produces 25% to 30% of the foods consumed in America... could be monotonous tedious.... I've also ridden and driven through Texas a few times... and Texas is so vast, with nothing but endless flat or gently rolling topography, I would never say it's the best state to live in.... again, unless you're born there and have never visited any other place across the US or in the world... For example --- in terms of topography ---- in California, even in San Diego, bordering Tijuana, Mexico, you could drive from 365-day sunny year-round Downtown to the local mountains (Julian to Polamar, the giant astronomical observatory), just 35-45 minutes north, and you see snow, from late December to early March or so. A stone throw beyond that, you're in the hot deserts of Borrego and Palm springs, as hot and humid as most of Texas... A bit north of northern San Diego, you have the infamous DEATH VALLEY ecosystem; a few miles west of deadly hot & in hospital Death Valley, you have alpine topography and vegetation, from the Sequoia areas, where the biggest trees on earth are, to Yosemite, where some of the most majestic mountains and valleys and snow caps were, to the millionaire playgrounds of Tahoe and Mt. Shasta highlands, in northerly to northern California... And, then, if you swerve westerly toward the mighty Pacific, you have endless ocean fronts and unsurpassed scenic coastal roadways ---- which runs from San Diego to Seattle & Vancouver, Canada... Again, people SHOULD love where they live (or they should move to other places)... but if you're just talking about MAJESTIC LANDSCAPES... of the endless kinds (giant trees and vegetation, snow cap topography, in hospital desert environments, the deepest of valleys and highest of mountain formations, mind-blowing coastal areas of both rain and mist, majestic scenic eternal spring-time-like landscape)..... there really are very few other places that could compare to California... It is NOT a coincidence that California has close to 40M people and it is the 5th largest economy in the world (bigger than Britain and France economies). All the mindless bullshit about California being run to the ground by stupidity, poverty, lack of education... about California being a horrible place to live in and to work... that's just stupidity and jealous on the part of idiots who keep babbling like that, for mostly stupid political ideologies.... facts are way different.... Facts are..... California is the most diverse state, with Latinos being the largest group, followed by Whites, followed by Asians, followed by Blacks and other groups. Depending on what odd metrics you go by (such as student to professor ratios, etc, which school private universities with large private donations rank highly in).... but if you count only world class RESEARCH GREATNESS ----- what they produce in engineering, mathematics, molecular biology, computer science, nano-technology, high-end consumer creativity/high tech, astronomy, physics, medicine and medical research, etc ----- California is home to 6 to 7 of the Top 20 or so biggest research universities in the world.... research universities that have a R&D budgets of $1B or more a year on hard core science... research universities that run close to 50% of the the biggest US government's space, nuclear, and energy research labs (e.g. Lawrence Livermore, Jet Propulsion, Los Alamos/in New Mexico, Sandia, Lawrence Berkeley, SLAC, etc). UC San Francisco (world class medicine school, 100% just graduate studies, 2nd largest R&D labs in the US, after only Johns Hopkins).... UC San Diego, home of the GoPro technology & 7th largest R&D labs in America.... UCLA, 6th largest R&D labs... poor Stanford, 9th largest R&D in America... poor UC Berkeley & poor Caltech that don't even rank in the competitive Top 20 in R&D spending.... Point is, again, California is NOT what uneducated Right Wing politics, politicians, and Cons keep saying what it is; California, in fact, is RICHER, more educated, & economically MORE POWERFUL than 95% of the COUNTRIES of the world.... bigger than India, France, Britain, or Russia. India has 1.47B people, larger than China's population now... Russia has 145M people... Germany, around 80M... France and Britain, close to 68M people... good ole, lazy, uneducated, Lib-dominated socialist California has 39+ million citizenns and it is the 5th largest economy in the world. That is NOT because California receives tons of hand-outs from economic power houses like Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, etc. that are dominated by highly successful political Conservatives who keep saying they are better, know more, better educated, more tolerant, more giving, etc. omic creativity & vicissitudes....

I think the climate and weather of Texas is relative to wherever you relocate from. For me I had lived in Southern California for 16 years and then Phoenix, AZ for two before relocating to Central Texas last year. The summer heat was not fun but bearable considering I was already acclimated to Phoenix summers (but humidity is a whole other animal!) however the winter for me was tough. The daily cold winds and random ice storm felt like the upper midwest to my wimpy west coast body 😂 However to someone relocating from a truly cold climate, Texas will feel downright pleasant and comfortable.
@LIVINGINDALLAS
@LIVINGINDALLAS 7 месяцев назад
Absolutely, climate perceptions are indeed relative to one's previous experiences! "Acclimate" that's a perfect word you used there. I guess that's a must before we can 100% consider someone's take on the weather! 😄

@photoguyoc9775
@photoguyoc9775 3 месяца назад
@@brucegoolsby1470 Last summer I lived in the Houston area and the humidity was the big difference from Phoenix. With that being said, 110+ in Phoenix with single digit humidity vs 90+ in Houston with heavy humidity feels equally miserable. I would say they're different but very comparable as in you don't want to be outside in either place.

After I figured out what was going on with my sister I should have gone back but it was too soon because of the situation I had been in and I feared for my life if I went back. Well I went back to Las Vegas NV since I knew I could without any problems. Now it looks like I won't make it back. My health is an issue and since I don't drive I guess I will end up dying here. I have lived outside of Austin my whole life, you live just outside of Austin and go to Austin for the amenities. I work in Austin, many great job. If there is a patch of woods in Austin you can better believe its full of homeless people living there. The city council is running a money laundering scheme with homeless issue. They have millions and spend it somewhere, but you sure can see any results from it. There are still many great places go in Austin still, but for the most part there is like this one tiny blue bubble that is Austin and right outside of it it change deep red thru the rest of the state. Forgot to mention the summer weather will beat you down. I grew up on a farm, I know.

If you can snag $100k (or less) loan, you can get a plot of land and drop a double wide on it out in rural Texas. Take that, let the land appreciate, sell it and build a house. People do it all the time in Texas. If you don't have the money to get a house on the market like so many, this is your way to get in and immediately get your own wealth. Now taxes. Texas does not have estate or income tax. BUT if you are a property owner, the taxes can be rather steep - even on a homestead exemption. It almost doubled the cost of my mortgage but according to others, it's still affordable in the end.

High property and sales taxes not knocking Texas. It's a fine state if you can ignore the politics. Wife's best friend lives in Texas. I myself, as a otr truck driver, spent a lot of time coming and going to Texas. My concern about Texas is the struggling power grid as my wife friend has said she has had to take her and her children to a hotel to escape to sniffling heat during some of the blackouts. And there's some concern over the water. People complain it's not weird taste to it. But the state government want to address it.

While the high property and sales taxes may seem like one of the 'cons' of living in Texas, they enable notable trade-offs, such as not imposing a state income tax, providing residents with relief from this particular financial obligation. A fair deal if you ask me! Where do you live now?

Sadly, this is not the Texas i was born and raised in😢 Texas has been inundated with people. Our taxes have skyrocketed. Our roads are now overly crowded. Our housing costs have soared. We no longer have that privacy of driving down an old country road. This has happened to every small town.

I hear you, changes can be bittersweet. While the rapid growth in Texas has indeed brought some challenges, it's a fair trade-off for the opportunities I can now offer to its future sons and daughters.

Texas is a nice state to live in but people have to think about the minimum wage is different when you work for big companies in Texas.

Great video, content. On diversity, how is it for the LGBTQ community?

In the 90s and 2000s when I was growing up it was NOT good lol. I'm also from West Texas (which is even more conservative). I'm sure it's better now, especially in large, urban areas. But always remember, at its core Texas is a very conservative, rugged, masculine state. The people are kind, but not super open minded and they can be aggressive. Part of the beauty of Texas is that it is fiercely independent and its ok to be passionate and somewhat defiant there. But the negative side to that is violence in Texas isn't seen as being as unseemly as most other states. Texas is actually one of the only states that has a 'mutual combat' law, where you can challenge someone to a fight, and if they accept, no one has charges pressed against them unless someone takes it too far and results in death or hospitalization. This isn't to scare you away, there are still lots of LGBTQ people in Texas, and Austin had a great scene when I lived there in 2012. I'm sure DFW has a great one, too. Just always be paying attention and understand that there's a large segment of the population that doesn't agree with the LGBTQ lifestyle, so don't move there if you can't handle people (especially older folks) giving you the side eye. Also understand there may be times where you need to back down, because a lot of Texans won't, even if it means a fist fight. Unless you're into that sort of thing

Only Austin tbh it’s not grade in Dallas and or Houston at least in my experience. I’m not a member of the community by any means, but I didn’t see it much.

I don’t know where rent is $1200 anymore. Texas is my home and housing prices have skyrocketed!! Unless you are a realtor I don’t think any Texans are happy about this insane growth! Our beautiful beloved communities are getting ruined by all the newcomers and construction. Great video and information but TX has inflated like crazy over the last 10 years and salaries haven’t changed much. I love my state but all the newcomers have ruined so much of our true TX! Talk to any Texan that’s not a realtor, we all feel the same. Many Texans have been pushed out of there areas after years because their quiet suburbs have been destroyed by ugly cookie cutter homes. It’s very very sad. Great info but don’t encourage people to move here. lol.
