Honestly the most difficult thing about Genshin reviews is that you have to play for like half a year to get to the best quests and content. Like how at the beginning it's "lighthearted" sure, but later down the line you encounter child sacrifices (a lot of them actually), entire cursed nations and personally massacring a whole nomad village. Probably one of my favorite dark moments is in Sumeru when you find out a guy is purposely guides children into the forest to get kidnapped. And when you go to confront him, you get a choice of letting him go or killing him. Like, not arresting him or anything. Just straight up merking the guy.

Weird as it sounds, I think what I love most about Genshin is actually its music. They legitimately have some of the best music in gaming, and there is SO MUCH because they have literally hours of music for reach region. Shout-out to the Chasm and Enkanomiya's music, holy shit.

It’s worth mentioning that Genshin is so incomprehensibly massive in the gaming industry that it dominates any game in Google trends for the past 3 years. And that’s not even considering the massive playerbase of China, which doesn’t even use Google.

I feel like this isn't even a question that needs to be answered. It's obvious why. It's an open world game with 3D anime-style characters voiced by some of the biggest named voice actors for both Japanese and English. That being said, this entire video felt like one giant ad 😂

Early on I was just exploring and then found this side quest. I was just doing it for the primos, but then if you pay attention, the hidden story is just depressing. This poor guy is stuck in a childlike state because his mind is blocking out the fact that he saw his parents murdered when he was a child. Every now and then HYV isn’t afraid to just drop you into a very dark moment. No spoilers, but there’s a brief moment in Fontaine’s story that made me audibly say, “Well dang, that’s dark…” If they showed the darker moments and it wasn’t in dialogue, this game could be rated M.

I just realized that Hoyo KNOWS how well received the 4.2 Archon quest is, judging by how 4 or 5 content creators I know have recently been getting sponsored by Hoyo out of nowhere. Genius marketing strategy dam esp since the story is literally at its peak in 4.2 with the well developed cutscenes and all kinds of stuff

Mondstadt arc is undoubtingly the more tame parts of Genshin Impact in terms of its story but I think it really gets better in Liyue then a lil downward in Inazuma but really ramps up in Sumeru and Fontaine. Sumeru is amazing and also Furina's character in Fontaine is my favorite, I think they really improved from post-Inazuma and how in-depth they can get into their characters.

You should talk about the music of Genshin, even if you don't like Anime, Asian games you can't deny the music of Genshin is top tier and worth talking about, it brings a lot of value to the video game industry.

I think the craziest part about genshin to me is that it's technically a mobile game yet it has more effort put into it than modern pokemon games

Early game genshin could sometimes be considered as boring, but after progressing through the early game you can notice the production value going up with each region. Plus the soundtrack is absolutely banging

I think that for some anime fans it's also a great opportunity to hear their favourite voice actors in the game. Aoi Koga's Paimon and Rie Takahashi's Hu Tao, for example.

I can tell you right now why, besides anime tiddies. It's a Good anime game which im sure TONS of people want but there pretty much none pre Ganshin. and The characters in the game are really good in terms of VA, recognition, Personality and style, and the Open world RPG aspect allows you to spend time with these characters one on one making players like them a lot more. Not only that but being a very easy PVE only game means they can more or less get away with the Gacha element.

I'd love to see another video from you about Genshin once you've completed the Sumeru and Fontaine Archon Quests as those two nations are where the story-telling gets insanely good.

As a long time player, I would describe genshin as a fun compilation of mini-games, aceccible in an open world, with a pretty complex story, linking everything together. And the music is awsome.

Best part of Genshin for me is the music. Absolutely love the music in the game.

Genshin's lore is actually massive. We're talking about Odin, Solomon, and Osiris in the same world-building and I'm not kidding.

The story does step up A LOT by the time you reach the last 2 regions. Overall I still enjoy the game, as long as you stay away from its communities you will probably have a lot of fun with the exploration and events.

I haven't played Genshin in awhile. But what I love about it is the amount of time and dedication to the story, world and characters, especially during the (Unfortunately timed and eventually expired) events where you get context for things you wouldn't have gotten anywhere else in the game. And the Gacha system isn't even required or promoted as such. Since the free starters are all great in their own ways and you can get enough Primogems decently to get some. And even duplicates have their place by upgrading the character you already have.

Thing I most like in game is when I am in open field and see distant mountain in horizon, unleas is otside of the map, I know I can climb on it. Fredom of movement in this game is excellent, maybe they can add more caves and secret tunnels behind waterfalls.

Man I started to play Genshin as a joke. But now I play it everyday for like an hour before going to bed and I love it. It doesn't force you to buy anything, it has new events and activities like every week. You wouldn't believe how much content you get for free. Strongly recommend it to everyone who is okay with anime stuff

i am a 100% F2P player in genshin and i´ve been playing this game since it came out and never felt the need to buy anything, and people often forget when talking about genshin and why is it so good that the game is really well made is pretty and the music is god-tier, every region has its own ost, it´s great. I like the game and although i said i played since launch this year i got a bit saturated and stopped playing for like 3 months, but then came back to it. the game is good and i enjoy it now you go back to play it actman you are still in the beggining of your adventure.

I can assure you that 3 years in the themes get less lighthearted, some difficult heavy story lines. Puzzles get a bit more annoying than better depending on regions. You really need to play more to get the feel for it for the content they created after they got the budget for it XD

Lvl 19 rn just finished monstadt last night i got the geo power now havent done much in that area yet used to think this game is gay since its a anime game but its pretty fun started giving anime a chance in 2021

As a longterm player.. Genshin is VERY stingy with its rewards. A funny thing happened on Genshin's first Anniversary, look it up. Diluc falls off hard after early game. Some characters are just useless, while other characters are still the Gods of Teyvat(Xingqiu, Bennett, Godba AKA Xiangling). Elemental reactions become more mainstream as well, where in most cases you legit will almost never see normal and charged attacks in action. Prices for gacha are insane. Upwards of 300-400$ to guarantee a limited-time character, if you're very unlucky. One thing that is decent is the pity system. Hard pity is at 90 for characters, with an addition of a 50/50 of you getting the wrong character. At which point the next time you will be guaranteed the 5* unit you seek. There's also a soft pity that does help a bit as well. Weapon banners used to be complete sinkholes before the Staff of Homa incident.. they still are, but you have a somewhat better chance at getting the weapon you want. Exploration is nice, for a while. Chests give you fuck-all in terms of primogems. Bigger stories hit pretty good, but there's also a lot of dialogue bloat. This game also has a meatshield of fans that will not like if you criticise the game even a little bit. Cultivating quite a bit of toxicity in that regard. In terms of changes, Genshin devs are hilariously slow at changes to the game. Not picking sides here, but comparing Honkai Star Rail to Genshin is night and day in terms of simple quality of life changes alone. And each patch brings changes to existing gamemodes and just wishes from new character releases.

I think he overlooked the monetization part, gacha, resources, resin all can be bought using IRL money. Genshin is a very fun and engaging game, without touching the monetization, I also spent 1 year to grind for HuTao artifacts to reach 200 Crit Value.

I started playing a few weeks ago without watching any tutorials and I still enjoyed it. Just settle with the fact that you absolutely don´t have to understand all the convoluted mechanics in the game to have fun

Its funny how you put this out right around after Genshin's peak, at least in terms of presence and hype. Its definitely going to stay as one of the juggernauts for a long time but it has terrible issues for the casual or returning players. The main issue is how stories come and never return from events, some of which is tied directly to the main story. Then there's the difficulty jump where it heavily encourages some min-maxing your teams as some of the stuff is scaled to your world level. Other than that it has all the foundation to maintain good revenue compared to how much they spend just to keep the game running but it definitely had some rough spots in terms of becoming stagnant for a few seasons.

Some things I'd like to add as a player who tried it and not knowing what the hype about. 1: The world is massive. Very impressive that they could do something like this for interplatforms esp mobile 2: the gacha is just PART of the game. There is no pressure for anyone to purchase anything and there are enough rewards to save up for a character you want. 3: emphasizing on no. 2 is that you can go thru content without spending money on the game. All the content, story and events are free for everyone to enjoy. 4: there's way more you can do in game than most people would portray, there's a nice photography mode, card game and you can build your own domain if you're the creative kind, there even cooking and fishing. There's just something for everyone. 5: this is not a waifus simulator. Yes I said it. Some are, but the fact that almost half of the meta units in the game are male then it deserves more than that weird title lol. 6: it's a good game to just pick up and enjoy, its actually a great escape from the super dark and gory type of games we have, and it's good it's NOT trying to be that and be an aesthethic of it's own. I enjoy the game a lot even tho I'm not that into anime, drive a Porsche, have a business and have relationship. 7: The music, online presentations and character demos of this game is nothing short of "chef's kiss" 🤌

Not gonna lie, was not expecting this. I played a lot of Genshin like 2 years ago, mostly as a f2p. I think I spent like $20 near the time before I stopped playing. Overall you're spot on why people like the game so much. The core gameplay is simple yet fun. The game does look gorgeous, and most of the character designs actually look well made, especially compared to many other anime games. The main reason I enjoyed Genshin Impact was cause of the world and exploration. Genshin is by far the biggest game I've seen with it's open world. So much to do (to be fair most of the side quests are copy paste, but they're still enjoyable despite that), and you actually get rewarded for exploring every corner of the world. I'm a sucker for these kind of "go wherever and find stuff" action rpg adventure type games. Probably why I also love Elden Ring and Valheim. Your praises on the core gameplay is spot on, but I have to completely disagree with the gacha aspect of the game. In my probably over 100 hours that I played, I think I got one or two characters that weren't part of the introduction or a freebie. If you want to get specific characters, you're shit outta luck if you aren't spending money. It's one of the main reason I dropped the game. I didn't want to grind for the rare chance to roll to get a super rare chance to get the character I want (before you say anything, yes I wanted to get Mona). Technically yeah, you don't need to spend money on the game, I didn't and it is fair to say I got plenty of enjoyment out of it. But if you're the type who wants to have your specific team...well good luck. I wouldn't be against the game allowing players to buy characters, it is free to play, and if it's a fair price, I'd be fine with it. But the gambling really takes away from what is a genuinely fun exploration action rpg. I doubt Act Man would have ever touched this game if it weren't for the sponsor. And honestly this felt like you were still being a bit too easy on the big issues of Genshin. (A little nit pick, but I think the music starting at 4:42 is too loud compared to your talking). I love ya Act Male, but especially after the Payday 2 video, I'm always going to take these sponsored game vids with a grain of salt. For the most part though this was another fun video, keep it up.

I legit started playing it recently just to give it a try and play something different that I can have access too while on my down time at work as well as when on my pc. It's pretty fun and you DON'T NEED TO PUT REAL MONEY INTO IT TO GET GOOD UNITS/WEAPONS!!

I will say this about Genshin. It gets a lot better later on. The last two arcs and the first three are night and day in terms of quality. The first three aren't bad, probably like a 7/10, but the last two are like 9/10s.

I was confused until i found out this was just a long ad

I am not an anime fan at all and i dont like open world games or mmos either (except Guild Wars 2). But my thoughts on it are exactly the same. I played about 30 hours or so and had fun, but once a game hits me with any sort of hamster wheel, I dip. Genshin is definitely fun to play for like a week or two but past the early stages of the game, I was over it. The challenging fights were actually pretty fun tho. The combat actually is better than it should be for a gacha game

To expand on a few points and answer some questions brought up, Building characters is indeed the most complicated part of the game. However, the game naturally guides you into doing that half way to max level. For the gacha mechanics, every 10 pulls gives a 4-star guaranteed and every 90 pulls is a 5-star guaranteed. The 5-star with their picture up has a 50% chance of being what you get. If not them, they're guaranteed next time. The game is never too difficult even for a completely free-to-play player. Even for someone with a concussion, the most recent update added a 'make it easier' option for all story content. I lied, there's one actually difficult combat area in the game: The Spiral Abyss, which is unlocked in the midgame. It's a series of rooms with steadily increasing difficulty for 9 floors followed by an additional 3 that resets twice a month that scale from 'doable' to 'sweatfest' with enemies significantly above the level cap. Many players come for the characters, but most stay for the story and combat.

I dont play the game as im just interested in the story. The story of the game, especially the latest Fontaine arc is pretty damn good if you ask me. Literally just finished roughly 12 hours worth of cutscenes and dialogue form said arc. I love it. Also hot anime babes (only the adult ones ofc).

This takes me back to Feb 2022. Haven't really thought of the early game in a while. I'm so used to the late game stuff now.

I learned enough about the gotcha system to cheese a good character out of the first drop in game at so I have at least one really solid character to build my team around. And then it just turned into me seeing the limits of where I could go with the progress I had...... And yea the "Hero Level" thing is annoying. It's a fake progression cap that just says "eh I'm not gonna let you progress until you gather 50 frumples and kidnap that kid over there" I haven't been dragged hard core into it like some of my friends but it is a nice game to throw up and go tromping around.

The first time I disagree with you in most of the cases. Genshin is by far one of the most boring games I've ever played ON PC (its actually a good game for MOBILE) and I play most of the genres. I played until inozuma or whatever that island was added to the game and I did the story and other content and all. Gameplay just feels so blank and barebones. Even for a casual game. And the RPG elements BARELY does anything. I remember playing the game with only one hand with my mouse because you can dodge/run with it and hit. You don't even need to do mixtures or get the characters to actually do something. To some extend this is good. But after a while its just making the game pointless. I never really felt I was upgrading my character and community didn't always welcome me and my friends for our character choices. (I was being insulted for using Anemo Aether and leveling him up quite often) Gacha genre itself is a predetory terrible genre anyways but I'll put that aside. Our mc other than couple of cutscenes just gives anime moans. I was playing the story and going tru it and I saw like wait IS THAT MY SISTER?? OH ARE WE FINALLY GETTING SOMETHING ENGAGING? and later on our boy (or girl) saw their sibling didn't even say a word and just tried to do that sad anime scene AFTER WE LEARNED SHE IS THE BADDIE. World is so empty and non of the choices got proper results. If this game had proper customization for mc and other heros maybe then it would be a bit better. Art style is nice but other than that this game is just wasting your time with a game that can couple of people could make it themselves. As long as people just gonna give money good youtubers will take sponsorships etc this game will never really gonna stop milking money. If you enjoy while accepting the game is not the greatest or the best rpg game out there you have my respect and have fun. But don't run around and yell and just advertise this game as a really great product. Even the RPG side of things are mostly false advertisement. Never be a fanatic of a company or a game if it actually doesn't care about the people. Or customers. Have a good day and have fun xd

There is a bigger over arching story but difficulty to following it now is that there were special events over the years that includes essential cannon story and were remove after the event. (dont understand why) This is why I stopped playing. ( Yes i did play it for the story) Dont know if they are ever going to fix it.

as someone who has played Genshin since it's release, I can answer one of the things you don't know yet cause you're still early in. It never shoves paying in your face, there is a difficulty wall to get over but all you need for that is to put in some effort making your characters stronger (I highly suggest looking up builds for your characters if you want to make strengthening them simpler), paying does not help with that (other than buying gems to trade for resin if you're too impatient). Paying any money is just if you want a boost or are impatient to get characters/weapon banners, and also you can buy some outfits. So basically paying is always entirely optional, not paying never stops you from progressing, and they don't shove it in your face. So though the game isn't perfect (I really want them to give us more resin) it is very fun.
