Please also note that Manu smriti or any other ancient text has become adulterated now. So need to be careful reading any such text. Some people thanking BR Ambedkar that he burnt Manu smriti but same guy didn’t dare to burn Bible or Quran. He also said Vedas should be burnt without even knowing even a word of Vedas. Vedas which was not only applauded by Saints and sages but also modern day quantum physicist like Heinsberg, Erwin, Neil Bohr, Oppenheimer, Einstein etc.

Those who think Manusmriti is casteist and anti woman have no idea about MAIN Buddhist texts, I thought Buddhism is anti caste but bro just read Anguttarnikaya part 3 page 230-240 (hindi translation by Bhadant Anand Kausalyayan), Buddha basically asks his followers to kill Shudras in the most painful way. In Andabhoot Jatak and in many other Jataks Buddha literally says, "All women are characterless, and men should stay away from them".

very sensible interpretation. i believe there are many things in religion, any religion for that matter, which is relevant for a certain period. then a new age dawns and we are faced with new challenges, and we are constrained to adapt to new circumstances. in that sense, some of our doctrines from the past become irrelevant. they still maybe considered part of our culture and tradition, although less significant than they once were in an altogether different age.

There is concept called " प्रक्षिप्त " Where we can change it's verses (it gives permission to do that) coz manusmriti is not scripture.. It's like constitution..... Manusmriti was written just by some random guy 300 year ago and it does not represents hinduism,ved, vedant,geeta,ramayana , Mahabharata are core and old books of hinduism.(although manusmriti doesn't have any discrimination , misunderstanding is only due to wrong English translation by Max Muller)

Now I love this type of guy who acknowledges the real issue.This guy knows that there was indeed discrimination in the past and Manusmriti did have controversial things, he acknowledged it, and he doesn't go around saying that nothing was wrong with us in the past. However he also agrees that there were many things that were include in our culture in later years,and we should be proud because we knew an acknowledged what was wrong and we improved it,we reformed, what was needed to be.

After reading manusimitri, I realised it is the most toxic and acidic thoughts I ever read. Only a psychopath, sick mentality person can think like this and write in a book. It should be introduced to psychological literature to find traumatic studies. The writer doesn't leave anything so brutal towards humanity and animals as well.

I wonder how loads of people jump in right away to comment and attack on something like manusmrithi. Ironically, many of them are hindus and they shiver and go utterly mum when it comes to descrimintion mentioned in Quran, Bible etc. This itself shows tolerance and freedom hinduism gives and that is its greatness. Special thanks to the very same brahmins, rishis and acharyas who, inspite of taking all the hate spilled on them from across the world, still have maintained their decency and composure to shape hinduism into a structured and inclusive religion tolerant of all diversities. Sri Ram himself was following Manusmriti. Manusmriti is the oldest constitution written by Kshtriya King Manu maharaj.The principles or rules in the Manusmriti are not contradicting to Veda, later on during British era Maxmuller altered Manusmriti to create castle division in the society. Manusmriti is masterpiece.

शूद्रों (जो आज की अनुसूचित जातियां, अनुसूचित कबीले और पिछड़ी श्रेणियां हैं) के विषय में शंकर के विचार इस से भी ज्यादा गए बीते हैं. अपने भाष्य में उन्होंने लिखा है कि शूद्र को न वेद सुनने का अधिकार है और न पढ़ने का, न उस के अर्थ समझने का अधिकार है और न उस के अनुसार अनुष्ठान (यज्ञ आदि) करने का. यदि वह (शूद्र) वेद पढ़ने वालों के पास जा कर उसे (वेद को) सुन ले तो उस के दोनों कानों में सीसा (रांगा) और लाख पिघला कर भर देनी चाहिए. शूद्र चलताफिरता श्मशान होता है, अतः उस के समीप वेद नहीं पढ़ना चाहिए. वेद का उच्चारण करने पर शूद्र की जीभ काट देनी चाहिए और वेद को सुन कर कंठस्थ कर लेने पर उस का शरीर चीर देना चाहिए. शूद्र को ज्ञान नहीं देना चाहिए: अद्वैतवाद वेदश्रवणप्रतिषेधो, वेदाध्ययनप्रतिषेधस्तदर्थज्ञानानुष्ठानयोश्च प्रतिषेधः शूद्रस्य स्मर्यते. श्रवणप्रतिषेधस्तावत् अथास्य वेदमुपशृण्वतस्त्रपुजतुभ्यां श्रोत्रप्रतिपूरणमिति पयु ह वा एतच्छ्मशानं यच्छूद्रस्तस्माच्छूद्रसमीपे नाध्येतव्यमिति च. भवति च वेदोच्चारणे जिह्वाच्छेदो धारणे शरीरभेद इति. न शूद्राय मतिं दद्यात् - ब्रह्मसूत्र 1/3/38 पर शंकरभाष्य. Well vedas rigveda gives definition of four varna, yajurveda mentions definition of chandal and nishadha which is proof of birth based varna system and discrimination, mahabharat has many stories about birth based varna system ( check what " sut" in sutputra karna means) , bhagwat Gita talks about paap yoni etc and says one must do work of varna he was born into no matter how bad he was at it, and never do work of other varna no matter how good he is at it, (bhagwatGita 18:47)....with this context all Gita is actually trying to implement birth based varna system and discrimination out of which caste system originated. So caste discrimination is a religious problem that needs to be addressed.

The Varna system is based on vocation, karma, rebirth, and not on caste. Jati is a community one is born in. The caste system is a derogatory term given to the Varna system by Western cultures, in addition to that these smriti's or dharma-shastras were written at the start of Kali Yuga, and are now obviously become outdated. One's karma decides who he/she is if one is a criminal or someone of low social status and reliability in society, he/she should be punished accordingly if they decide to commit a heinous act. Although I agree that some punishments are taken to an extreme degree in Manusmriti, but we need to understand its need, kali-yuga are perilous times where adharm is at it's peak, so the rules were as strict as they were kept. Even so, Shudras who are knowledge oriented would get a Brahmanical Initiation, as said in manusmriti itself.

Those who don't know there are eighteen main Smritis or Dharma Sastras. The most important are those of Manu, Yajnavalkya and Parasara. The other fifteen are those of Vishnu, Daksha, Samvarta, Vyasa, Harita, Satatapa, Vasishtha, Yama, Apastamba, Gautama, Devala, Sankha-Likhita, Usana, Atri and Saunaka.. i would say instead of believing such people please read authentic Smritis,puranas,grantha,Vedas . Bcoz many writer jus publish when they don't know the basic meaning of language used in it.... Caste discrimination is rooted not in religion but culture. Caste was an ancient system of occupational class delineated in Hindu texts that over the years developed into a rigid social hierarchy. The lowest castes, or untouchables, were marginalized and faced persecution. Caste-based discrimination is not intrinsic to Hinduism and should not be thought of as religiously sanctioned. the poorer workers involved in 'unclean' occupations such as sweeping or leather work were historically segregated and banished outside the city limits. Over time, personal cleanliness came to be identified with "purity", and the concept of untouchability eventually spread to the rural areas. Manusmriti text was never implemented as a law code in ancient India. The caste system as it exists today is the result of developments during the rise of the British colonial government in India. The British Raj furthered this development, making rigid caste organisation a central mechanism of administration. By 1860 the British formulated the caste system into their system of governance, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to Christians and people belonging to certain castes.

Manusmriti is a great example of how inappropriate influence can sabotage an entire nation. The caste explained in it is so wrong whereas earlier the people were divided according their abilities, there was no barrier such as caste, but popularisation of Manusmriti pulled us backward in so many aspects and have been so deep rooted that to this day women and working class people are humiliated. Our religion, rather our Sanatan culture, is great, but certain texts and beliefs just makes us a target of mockery and disbelief.

In the vedic period there was not any discrimination on the basis of so called caste i can give u many references to support my claims from the most authentic scriptures of sanatan dharma "THE VEDAS" A commonly held perception regarding Vedas is their prejudice against Shudras. Vedas are accused of being Brahminical texts designed to subdue the Shudras. They are considered to be the source of caste-based discrimination that is touted as the primary characteristic of Hinduism/ Sanatan Dharma or Vedic Dharma. The entire pro-Dalit movement also has its foundation on this baseless notion. Unfortunately, nothing could be far from truth. In this series of articles, we would provide evidence from Vedas and related texts to establish the following: a. The meaning of four Varnas and Shudra in particular is completely different from what the Macaulay inspired intellectuals would want us to believe. b. There is absolutely no element of birth-based discrimination or denial of opportunity for any human being in Vedic way of life. c. If there is one text that provides evidence of highest level of meritocracy and equal-opportunity, it is the Vedas. Even the most contemporary texts on human rights cannot come closer. Before we begin our journey of solving the caste-puzzle through Vedas, let us start with certain worship mantras from Vedas that mention Shudras: Yajurved 18.48: O Lord! Provide enlightenment/ compassion to our Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Provide me also with the same enlightenment so that I can see the truth. Yajurved 20.17: Whatever crime we have committed against my village, forest or committee; whatever crime we have committed through our organs, whatever crime we have committed against Shudras and Vaishyas, whatever crime we have done in matters of Dharma, kindly forgive us relieve us from the tendency of the same. Yajurved 26.2: The way I gave this knowledge of Vedas for benefit of all humans, similarly you all also propagate the same for benefit of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Shudras, Vaishyas, Women and even most downtrodden. The scholars and the wealthy people should ensure that they not deviate from this message of mine. Atharvaved 19.32.8: O Lord! May I be loved by everyone - Brahmin, Kshatriya, Shudra or Vaishya. May I be admired by everyone. Atharvaved 19.62.1: May all noble people admire me. May kings and Kshatriyas admire me. May all look at me with admiration. May the Shudras and Vaishyas admire me. It is clear from these mantras that a Vedic person: - seeks to be forgiven for crimes against all including Shudras - seeks to propagate Vedas to all including Shudras - considers all Varnas - Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra to be equal and respects them equally. Thus it is clear that as per Vedas, Shudras deserve the same respect as other Varnas and as per Vedic prayer, Shudras are accorded great esteem. It is also interesting that in all of these mantras, the word Shudra comes before Vaishya. So one cannot counter-argue that Shudras are given last mention or least preference. These are sufficient evidence to conclude that Shudra, as per Vedas, imply something quite different from a caste or community that has to be discriminated against. We shall explore the meaning of Shudra and associated terms like Daas, Dasyu and Anarya, which are often confused to be synonyms, in subsequent articles. May the truth prevail! Manusmriti is basically just a law book , it is not a religious book u will find contradiction between vedas and manusmriti(it is just a book written by a person) dont accept it as religious text follow vedas, upanishads,and bhagavad gita and SAVE SANATAN DHARMA

Our generation is super intelligent and finds flaws without knowing the real truth. You might read a thin later written bogus version and you might have wrong conceptions. Manusmriti was written by the first among men Manu- the man whom Shri Hari Vishnu gave darshan and showed Matsya Avatar. Manusmriti was written during the time of SatyaYuga and IS NOT applicable in Dwapar, Treta or for the matter Kaliyuga. The smriti applicable for KaliYug is Parashar smriti. A King/Male when performed Yajanas or gave sacrifice or even cut off his own head to offer his love to God was given only half the punya (good karma) because half was automatically transferred to his wife. Whereas Men were protected with the satitva or pureness(not meaning virginity, not meaning beauty but the pureness of soul) of their wives in battles such that even bhagwan Narayan/Shiv/Brahma did not killed them. About caste system: Brahmins when they did bad deeds are forgiven by kings because one bad deed by Shudra(not determined by birth but by work) is to be punished on mortal realm but one bad deed by Brahmins who know Vedas and have knowledge is punishable by them becoming Brahmaraksha(bhoot yoni for thousands of years+Hell+ a hellish life after reincarnation). The original version of manusmriti in Sanskrit gives very high punishment to upper classes and reduces it as we go down. Manusmriti defines laws which are very much to read side by side with Vedas. First go and read Manusmriti with Ved, half knowledge is more harmful than ignorance

This comments section is basically: you know, X book of Y religion was against women and lower castes too: doesn't erase the fact that Manusmriti was doing the same. One wrong doesn't erase the other

Manusmriti is totally based on untouchability and vast caste difference. Dr. B R Ambedkar had done very right burning Manusmriti and making new constitution toh give a social equality and a big thing to treat women equal to men.
