One of the most useful tools I had as a beginning meditator was the mantra. Just a thing you repeat in your mind and focus on, that makes it more difficult for the random thought noise to start its runaway effect. I listen to music a lot, so I most often have a song in my head. One of my early meditations, I had a song in my head, and I just started playing it through with focus, vividly hearing the instruments, singing along in my mind. As I went along, I started slowing it down, letting the beats rest just a bit long, and focusing on the spaces between. Slower and slower, until I picked a good stopping place, the end of a chorus I think, and just let it rest for good. I even imagined the instruments ringing out as they faded away, but then just rest. I think this practice got my mind gradually accustomed to the spaces in between, until I was able to just let that space be all there was. I realized at that point that we all meditate on a regular basis, just for little tiny bits of time, in between everything that goes on in our heads. When someone says to me 'I can't meditate, I've tried and it just doesn't work', I ask this: Listen! ... Did you ever notice that when you listen intently for something, your mind stops? You stop your mind all the time, you just have to practice maintaining it. And that is the other key to meditation, it is a practice. You don't just sit and start meditating, nobody has ever done that for the first time. Meditation masters *practice*. They devote themselves to it, and practice it every day. And there's a reason they are so devoted, don't be surprised if you find yourself starting to cry once you are successful. That's because there is a profound beauty in just being. Like walking meditation, it is a way to experience being alive in the world in all its true amazingness, with no distractions. So, maybe pick a mantra, a simple phrase, or even a song. Sometimes I use an intention I have for myself, like "I am at peace and surrounded by beauty." Practice slowing it down, and let the spaces in between rest longer and longer. That's what worked for me, maybe someone who sees this can benefit. On another note Ariadne, don't worry about the ones you can't help. There is no wrong way to be a human being. Everything truly is just as it needs to be, and all of our journeys lead back to the source. We are all here to be exactly as we are, and every moment for each of us has the same value. This is one point in an infinity of space, time, dimension, and being. The Tao te Ching states it as 'There is no front without back, no up without down' (paraphrasing of course). I like to say, 'Existence is an all or nothing proposition'. Infinity is truth, and by it's nature, it would provide for every possible potential, and each one as important as any other, just as it is. Offer what you have, but don't stress over the moment they choose. Hope this helps, have a wonderful day!

If you are dealing with racing thoughts and are unable to clear your mind, it's because you have thoughts you need to think before you can relax. Meditation isn't having a clear mind, it's clearing your mind. If you have thoughts that are weighing you down, think through the process of when, if not today, you will deal with these thoughts. Meditation can not fix a broken life, it can only help you clear the clutter out of your mind that may be causing a broken life. Once the clutter is gone, that is when the work begins.

Well , thanks Ariadne , there was a time about 5 years I had to bike to work and I managed after one of your or my first exercises to meditate to practiced what I learned while biking , and it also worked , you know often some routes in different seasons memorizing the surroundings and after some seasons I was suddenly miles further than I felt and other times nature or a place called to be explored on the route so I went there , this season because it’s such a special one is going tone awsom I am a seeker and the synchronicities are off the scale like I get compliments to ground and let the negative go ( I am also a rebel by witnessing the 3D horrors) and I feel by witnessing these and compile them right by stand over the mechanics of mindcontrol I process them for humanity it’s kind of the higher self thing , and all souls connected to my higher self , ok I got a bit far sorry , love and light

Thank you for sharing your story. starting my own journey years ago, I’d get overwhelmed, not understanding the meaning of meditation at its core. Fumbled through several guided meditations, from several different creators and never getting anywhere, always seeming like it was either a waste of time or making things worse. I had big issues with most audio in recording causing anxiety and violently waking, until I came across something you made. Your work has helped me in so many ways over the years, and I’ve personally enjoyed listening to it evolve into what it’s became. It’s kind of nice to understand the person behind the recordings. Thanks for making the choice to be a teacher. You’re amazing at it. :)
