Rode a gaited horse today for the 1st time. My teacher didn't warn me and I couldn't stop laughing. It's so different! I just wanted to say sometimes pacing is a sign of back pain because the spine doesn't have to flex as much. I know dogs often start pacing when their having back trouble. Wolves often do it naturally and my wolfdog seemed to prefer it to trotting.
You give a whole lot of good things to consider. I like your common sense approach and your common sense opinions - that's a rare thing today when everyone just wants to sell you a quick fix.
Rode a Rocky Mountian Mare for the first time in July, and yesterday I got my first Paso Fino mare. I cannot wait until she is home. I really liked the gaited ride. Not sure what gait she is at....but I will learn how to work it out. So excited to be broadening my riding skills! Great videos, very detailed. Thanks!
I just subscribed! You are down to earth good commen sense Justin . could you answer if a horse should know how to neck rein before it gaits ? I've observed some horses look like they are between a pace and a fox trot, so how will I know if my horse is in a good fox trot if I've never ridden the horse yet. Thanks so much for your videos, people must realize how time consuming they are to do.
some good information...I like that you don't depend on soreing and shoeing practices that deform the horses physiology ultimately causing pain. So hate that aspect of the gaiting world or any discipline, that has distorted the breed from it's original concept.
I just recently bought another horse , he acts gaited I know he's part walker but he also has a bone structure of a saddle bred , I'm breaking him now he's only four I recently just got in the gaited world because I rode quarter horses and non gaited . But since I've been showing gaited I had to get in with the gaited . Would a heavier shoe help? I've heard so many theories and I believe he has a bit of a gait but he is pacy since he's so young , I know he's definitely a mix breed
Good video. I am on my first TWH, his sire was a versatility champion. He used to be a bit trotty, but has now moved to pacing😩. He was sitting for almost a year and went into full time work so I am going to have to try this stretching! What do you think about magna wave?
