Certain Kia/Hyundai motors are known to use excessive oil and often have bearing failures. Some possible oil use solutions are: 1. Change pcv 2. Use an engine oil flush like BG EPR 3. Occasionally use a combustion chamber cleaner like BG 44K 4. Use a quality Synthetic oil for shorter oil change intervals. 5. The best is a piston soak using Berryman's B-12 These cars use low tension rings that can get carboned up and stick causing oil consumption and excessive blow by.
I replaced the PCV valve but my Rio is still burning oil. I know now there is a class action lawsuit against Hyundai and Kia "alleging" vehicles have defective engines that use excessive oil, stall, and eventually fail.
I have the same problem, 2018 KIA Soul. Did the Oil consumption tests then KIA denied my claim said I was all my fault!!! Ill never buy another garbage KIA ever again!!!!
Its the intake valve on them they are carbon up! You will need to clean the intake valves by sandblast or take off the intake and cleaning each port where the intake valve closes so you can clean the top on the intake that never gets cleaned
From my research its manely the cars with the 2.4 and 2.0 theta that were made in the usa In europe where they dont sell a lot of theta engines theres no recall . check your vin if it starts with a k you should be fine .
Yep. I put out a video on how my wife's Kia Soul was using up too 3 quarts of oil within 3000 miles. It started about 85,000 miles on the odometer. The mechanics at the Kia dealership told us that this was normal... I just replaced the PCV valve and I'm hoping this fixes it. I doubt it, but here's to hoping.
I bought my daughter a Soul , used with 42000 miles on it, always on point with oil changes, now at 78000 miles its consuming oil, Ill never buy another Kia, so many oil consumption problems with them and of course its not covered under recall or warranty. I was just going to buy a new optima ,but decided no way, engines shouldnt fail at 80000 miles
