Thanks, I am considering buying a camera too. Sony ZV-E1 is in my top list for now.

It's just a shame they put that low-res screen on it and all their cheaper bodies, sadly. With the A6700 you have a decent EVF at least... I had a ZV-E10 for a bit, but the low res screen meant I did miss focus sometimes in manual and couldn't tell til I got back. It also wasn't great when it was bright outside to be honest.
hey dude! WELLLLL I mean ... in comparison to other monitors, sure, it could be considered "less than" however if you're not comparing it directly, it's still a really decent monitor!

@@dandobi I think it's objectively bad. Just looking it up the RX100 had a 1.2million dot screen back in 2012, 12 years ago, and that wasn't great for focus. Putting a LOWER resolution one on a two thousand quid camera in 2024 is a bit of piss take IMO 😂 really trying to squeeze that margin!
>a legend has entered the chat< Thanks ole’ friend! Appreciate you! Nice! I’ll be on the lookout for yours when it comes out! So many people I know refuse to even consider this camera because it “doesn’t look pro”. So strange. Anyway, thanks again dude! 🍻
please suggest me i am a siger and i have to release my professional music videos i was planning for fx3 but previous days i got an opportunity to try this camera zve1 from sony that time i realize its giving same quality as fx3 coz of same sensor but only thing i am worried is Overheating i want to tell you i have a music studio and i have to shoot long Podcasts nd my music videos in very hot weather as i am from india and i am gonna to have only one camera atleast for upcoming few years so i just want to know that is it really fine for me to save my money and invest in Zve1 and use that money to purchase my other needfull equipments or Buying Fx3 is a right choise for me in Long Term so please do reply me i will wait and thanks alot for this amazing Video
Could this camera shoot podcasts for an hour at 4k24 or will it die and blow up from heat?! lol looking for a travel cam and everyday video cam along with filming podcasts. Maybe some sports pics here and there lol
@@dandobithanks! You noted that in the video too about change the battery I apologize but I don’t know what you mean specifically by that - if you wouldn’t mind expanding. 🙏 😊
sure - the battery gets hot then triggers the system to be like "oh I'm a little toasty!" then you swap the battery and it's all like "oHHhhhh that feels gooOOOOoood" and then it will cool the internal temp of the camera... I'm not a scientist but this is how I interrupt how it works 👨🏼🔬🔬🧪
Hah, thanks dude! I agree! I think some people purposely drag stuff out to please the algorithm… I’m like “nah, just say what ya need to say and be done, I got stuff to do!”. Appreciate you! Stay tuned for more *quick and to the point* stuff!
Absolutely true words Dan 👍🏻 I am not a vlogger, I normally Film with my Fx6 but since a few weeks I have this small cam beast too and I really love it 😍 perfect quality and awesome for holidays 😅 best cinematic greetings from a small german RU-vid filmmaker 😂
Hi Dan, first of all, thank you for this concise and informative review. I have a question though. I'm a bit torn between the ZV-E1 and the A7C II. I use my A7VI for 80% video and 20% photo, but for video, I mostly use 24fps 90% of the time and 60fps 10% of the time. However, I want to trade it for a more compact camera for everyday carry. Do you still recommend the ZV-E1 over the A7C II?
Hey there! first off, YA WELCOME! appreciate you! And yes, I think you can do more with the zv-e1 to be honest, I've taken a lot of photos with it and am still very happy with the outcome, NOT to mention you can easily up-res the photos in photoshop with a click of a button... I do like the a7cii however I feel zv-e1 beats it. hopefully that helps, happy to answer anymore questions!
@@dandobi Thank you for getting back! I'm SOLD. I just ordered ZV-E1 and will be arriving next week. Super excited! Any VND Filter recommendations for 24mm f2.8 G? 🙂
This type of video is exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for something small and decently powerful for my honeymoon in Italy in a few months. Thanks, Dan! Great to see a new video from you by the way. P.S. - Do you still keep in touch with Andrew Santino?
Hey dude! Yeah this is an amazing travel camera. Pair it with a small lens like a 24mm 1.4 and you’ll be cooking! I haven’t chatted with Andrew in a while!
Thanks for the video! When you shoot in slog3, do you use flexible ISO, such as 640-something for good light situations and 12800-something for low light? Or do you try to stick to the base ISO? In vlogging situations, flexible ISO is very important to me. Do you have any suggestions? Also, when I shoot in 12800 in low light, I still feel like I'm missing that buttery quality. Do you have any preferred settings for low light? Thanks in advance.
Hey there! When I shoot in S-Log 3, I always TRY and shoot at the native Iso's if and when I can. If i'm in a pinch, and the sun is BLASTING and for some reason I don't have ND, I will jump down to flexible iso's and just eat it. normally, this would only be the case for personal stuff or social content but if I'm on a job-job, I will really make it a point to land at 640. As for 12,800 -- it's not "set it and forget it", you still need to have your exposure correct and it's a little more sensitive here than it would be at 640. The second you underexpose at 12,800 your lack-of-butter may appear, but in my experience, i actually LOVE 12,800 and have no issues with it at all (rewatch the low light section of the video for more examples of 12,800). Hope this helps! : )
@@dandobi Thank you for your detailed response. One last question, You mentioned correct exposure, and for S-Log3, you suggested +1.3 to +1.7 for both day and night scenarios. Could you please elaborate on this? I understand that exposure metering in cameras isn't always perfect, but I'm curious how you determine the correct exposure in your case for both daytime and nighttime shooting situations. Thank you in advance once again.
This might be an oversimplified response but I turn gamma display assist ON and just ... make sure the exposure is clean! I just look at it by eye and if it looks good, boom, you're good!
Good vid, but man this camera was constantly talked about for many months after its' release - like every creators channel had it. It's a steal for a baby FX3 essentially. Just in Arizona the overheating too big an issue.
Watched all 5 minutes thank you for getting straight to the point and not expanding to much. Just one question man I’m really really considering buying this camera, and the overheating issue is messing with my head, I shoot video almost 2-4 times a week and there mainly short films for IG reels should I be worried
Hey dude! first off, thanks! secondly... the overheating thing is NOT really anything crazy. I've shot with it a lot and yes, it does happen but it's not as common as it's hyped up to be. there's also a setting to help out with this function as well but I'm telling ya, from someone that uses this camera ALL the time, it's really no big deal. hope that helps! happy to answer any other questions ya might have!
For me it's fantastic to be able to choose whether to use the ZV-E1 as it came out of the box or add a rig based on the situation to be shot. Anyway fantastic camera for many uses!
@ of course! I reached out to ask via Instagram but maybe it got lost in spam! Figure it would be okay considering I credited you in the video. Love your stuff btw!

@@dandobiyes probably lost in the spam! I would have replied that there were no problems using it! Very good content!
I Have 2, 1 black with 16-35 f4 PZ (fantastic lens) and 1 white with 24-105 f4 OSS. Is my video stup. I don't like active stabilization because of the crop. And with an 11MP sensor that's a problem. I use the 16-35 PZ with the RS3 mini. Great video. If it had a 22MP sensor it would be perfect for those who make professional videos (not cinema). And for those who have back health problems, it is perfect. greetings from Portugal.
I'm getting a bonus from work soon & I've been teetering back/forth on whether I should rent for 7 Days from Borrow Lenses to see if I even like it or purchase; your video just made me contemplate why waste money I could be investing in the actual product. I think I'm just gonna wing it & drop the $2,200 and I'm pretty sure I won't regret it. Especially when it makes me the $ back from some upcoming Travel Vlogs I'll be shooting third person for clients. Easy money. Thanks, Dan. Subscribing!
Hey dude! Oh yeah, if you’re going to rent for 7 days, I would 100% buy it and if it doesn’t work out for ya, sell it and you’d probably make out better if ya rented it to be honest. It’s a great camera with so many advanced features but if you’re new, it always has a really easy automatic “beginner” mode to ease ya in. Thanks for watching and commenting… and subscribing! Woo! 🤘🏼
Hey! okay so ... it's the SAME sensor so image for image, you're going to have the same exact "look". I think the ZV-E1 has better AF, slightly better with IBIS. In my opinion, this has more features than the a7siii however doesn't have an EVF (monitor for your eye). Also, a7siii has more customizable buttons on the body which might be useful but not really be a huge deal. Honestly, I think ZV-E1 is the way to go. Save money, smaller body, newer tech. Hope this helps!
Geeetings. I was stuck with the same decision. Going for the zve1 for music videos as well . What lens would you suggest for music videos ? Appreciate your time .Respect 🫡
@@jasenalapati665 hey! The lens question is super broad, I don’t think there is one that needs ALL needs, but you can’t go wrong with a 24-70mm (if you HAD to pick one)
Good video and completely agree with the: you buy the small camera to use as a small camera, not build a studio cine setup. It gives you mucht more candid footage to walk around with something people don't take very serious. The E1 is excellent for video, if you want a photo option: have a look at the A7CII, that Ai AF is really nice to have.
does this make sense for a tiny kit for photography? for full frame, and removable lens to clean dust, and tiny size, there aren't too many options out there. sigma's fp is an option. neither have a shutter curtain. how it it with banding? thanks for the great review!
Thank you! I wouldn’t let dust hitting your sensor be a reason for stopping you for buying this camera or ANY camera. Sigma fp is great and actually smaller than this camera however I feel the zv-e1 beats it. Banding is fine, no issues that I’ve seen. If you’re looking for a great photo camera and don’t need video, a7rc might be a better option. Appreciate you! 🤙🏼
my dude! thank you! LIKEWISE! I've seen a few of your videos and dig your stuff as well! (blackmagic 6kff video and others). Keep up the good work on your end! Appreciate your comment! 🫱🏼🫲🏽
@@dandobi For sure. Glad you're fan of the camera. I have an A7iv and love it but want something smaller. I was considering the a7cII but I know I shouldn't sleep on the ZV-E1.
@@Richard_Lutz You can't go wrong with a A7CII, I love it, leaving my A1 at home, it's a good combo of photo and video capabilities. That ai AF is a lot better than the A1.... if the camera locks on. This is the only thing that is different: the ai AF takes a while to lock.
