Everyone seems to forget miles is the one that suggested he be a teacher, during freeroam after beating the game peter says that he needs time to find a job to which miles said "you ever thought about teaching? You're pretty good at it"
Well that backfired. Honestly I don’t know a job he could have that’s flexible enough for him to keep. As much as Norman is a sleaze-bag, I would guess he would have flexible hours. But there is always the risk Norman might pull the same stunt he did to Otto if he hasn’t learnt his lesson already.
@@rechanted1291 “Do you see that? When I succeeded no one noticed or congratulated me on such an effort. But I make one small mistake and everyone notices.”
Also in spider man miles morales at the end of the game Pete says he’s looking for a job and miles say that he would be a great teacher and Pete said something that took interest into it
Peter calls Miles after returning from Symkaria with Mary Jane and tells him hes looking for a job instead of the photography gig. Miles responds with a suggestion as a teacher because of his teaching as Spider-Man to Miles. Peter seems skeptic at first but says maybe.
Peter pursuing a passion for teaching sounds so great in concept and I’d love to see it explored in another story, but the problem with this concept in any Spider-Man story is that Sandman won’t be the last city wide threat. This won’t be the last time Peter has to disappear right when the school’s being evacuated and he’s supposed to be responsible for keeping his class together. Peter would either need to abandon his students twice a month, or massively step back as Spider-Man and let Miles hold back the apocalypse by himself.
@@dallasbhowell8485 i disagree. and also, this is a theory from this guy so don't take it as the truth. peter probably just got the teaching job because he really needed money to keep aunt may's house and he had the qualifications and interest (mj mentions he was very excited for this job) for this career path. and in case you guys didn't play the game, a big part of the story is peter and miles trying to get a better work-life balance. i'm the end we can see peter takes a break from being spider-man to work on other stuff while miles goes to dinner with the game pointing out that he isn't wearing his suit. also he doesn't think crime only happens when he's teaching, that's the whole problem here. there's always crime but pete still needs money and time so his whole life doesn't keep falling appart.
@@bookiwohoo still, peter has many ways to get money, i mean hell with all his tech he could take a break from being Spiderman to go to stark and sell some of his ideas and inventions or just his web formula with changed polymers that wouldn't oxidate after two hours, or just get a job connected with flexible work management
So the plan was to just have Miles skip school constantly? Why would Peter get a job that synchronises his schedule with Miles? Surely it makes more sense for him to get a job with different hours to Miles' school, so when he's working, Miles is available and vice versa.
@@ksa7621 That's what I'm saying. Peter should have got a job that has different hours to Miles' school rather than making Miles skip class while Peter teaches
I feel like people aren’t really thinking about this as deeply as they want to believe they are. There was no “plan”. Peter needs money as always and is desperate because he might lose his childhood home to the bank. He has the qualifications for this job and took the opportunity. He may not be able to make it work (he didn’t) but he needed to try. Many people in the comments have thrown out short sighted suggestions for what jobs he could do without really thinking about the reality that there is basically nothing outside of full self employment that would allow for the freedom being Spider-Man requires. Miles also skips class all the time with or without Peter, plus there is no way he could have known he would be teaching a class with miles in it. It’s a full academy and there are likely multiple science teachers.
Peter being a Teacher is the coolest thing to me! He’s always been smart better never utilized it for others like his Spider powers so him teaching makes soooo much sense! God I love this game!
He did become a teacher in the comics! Twice actually - Science in a high school, and another training young x-men. Plus he also was a lecturer one time.
Honestly, I could see Peter Parker as a part-time physics TA, a freelance photographer/journalist for alternate web sources like the New York Times or the Danikast, or part-time scientist again for a different company, that way it can be flexible in which he could possibly have multiple jobs, pay the bills, and be Spiderman for a good amount of time while Miles could take over when he is busy with work or other stuff
@@Darth_Arashi Just have the game happen after the fact, so it can be mentioned in passing. In the first game Peter says something about the Avengers when you go to the top of their building, so mentioning Tony shouldn't be a problem.
I think one of the backpacks had peter’s TA badge and he said something about him thinking about going back to it. And then miles said that he would be good at teaching
I really want the next game to develope JJ like he is currently in the comics. In the comics it's revealed peter kinda sucks at photography but JJ keeps employing him because he understands pete is supporting his grandmother and needs the money while going through school. Its also later revealed that JJ hates spidey so much because of how the whole city loves him. His perfect son died nobly and was instantly forgotten by everyone but spidey runs around in a suit beating people up and everyone loves and remembers him. He bottled up his pain and anger for the death of his son and used spidey as an outlet. It even gets to a point that he admits to wasting so much of his life going after spidey that he's affraid he won't have anything left if he stops
I thought it also involved Peter being a good role model to Miles by being his mentor and teaching the ways and responsibilities of a Spider-Man in Marvel’s Miles Morales. I know Miles recommended Peter to become a teacher a few times because he felt Pete does it naturally and genuinely
This is also one of Peters dumbest moments of all time. Like you really think you can keep a job that requires 8 plus hours of full attention, and Spider-Man? 🤦♂️
Add watching and teaching kids during those 8 hours, honestly 10 years of Spider-Man. I'm thoroughly impressed that Peter isn't suffering from some major crippling depression
@@dallasbhowell8485...peter was a teacher in the comics he hasn't been a photographer for almost 40 years. Peter is almost always in some form of science field
In the comics from the early 2000s he's a teacher. This is nothing but accurate and should have been kept in the comics, instead of the photography gig coming back over and over again.... Either that, or the "Parker Industries" arc where he pretty much went toe-to-toe with Tony Stark in terms of creative genius, that one was really cool as well!
I wonder why Peter is constantly playing the damsel in distress in this one. Feels like a disrespectful way to hamfist miles into the next game as the main protagonist.
@@My_Favorite756 I mean... agree to disagree. Over half the story is just Miles just breezing through all of Pete's problems or saving Pete's life, then they retire Pete at the end. Which means the next game will focus primarily, if not entirely on miles. I don't really see another way to view it. With all the dei hamfisted into the game it feels like a deliberate attempt to hamfist a more "modern" spiderman into the spotlight and retire the problematic white one.
@@Lots-Of-People-are-Saying completely agree, definitely felt like he was pushed to the side a lot, and from a gameplay standpoint it makes sense. How do you make the Symbiote seem like a powerful upgrade? Simple solution: Nerf Peter and give him little to no ‘badass’ moments without the Symbiote. It makes sense seeing as you want the Symbiote to feel incredibly powerful, to reinforce Pete’s point of view of ‘it makes me a better Spider-Man!’. That being said they did it way too much, to the point where Peters so weak that, he’s actually right, he’s nerfed so completely that without the Symbiote he can’t keep up.
One of these days I hope that there is a comic where in an alternate universe Peter opens a web academy to specifically teach young spider people how to be a hero
I never got why Spiderman was poor. Especially in modern times. He could just start a Start-Up saying, "fund spidey, so he can worry about saving people and not rent!" and make millions.
It’s honestly funny how Peter Parker as Spider-Man hasn’t sued J Jonah Jameson for defamation because J J just tells so many lies about Spider-Man. This is way too petty to sue a news station for let alone someone who very obviously jealous of Spider-Man.
"Did you ever wonder" ...No, I played the games and heard Miles tell Pete he's a great teacher and should try that as a job followed by Pete responding enthusiastically about the idea.
Did anybody also mention that in the first game, when you're collecting the backpacks he finds his ID card for substitute teacher and he says he liked teaching and wish he could maybe come back to it someday?
i really dont see how peter thought he could handle teaching and spider-man at the same time, considering it's such a commitment where you can't leave because the students are your responsibility
Well also science is his first love. In the comics it was just that he likes science and teaching. He kind of fell into photography but always had an actual passion for science. That’s also why Iron Man and Mr Fantastic have so much pull over him, because they’re the scientific pseudo dads he’s always wanted
the reason peter is a teacher and not any other jobs its because in marvel spider man remastered(the first game) there was a call with miles at the silver lining dlc. they were talking about what job should peter have and miles said: “you should be teacher” and peter said: “i don’t know about that” miles said: “c’mon you make a good teacher”
This guy could’ve been the next Einstein and you’re telling me he chose to teach? The problem here is the fact that he has so much potential as a scientist, and teaching will clash so much with being spider man
Peter always wanted to be a scientist, not a photographer. He took the job to pay the bills, he didn't want to take pictures of himself his whole life.
I mean, Peter wasn’t a photographer anymore in the first game either. He was working with Octavius. And another collectible showed that he was once a teaching assistant, and that could want to teach again. So it foreshadowed this in the next game.
its funny after knowing that in the first game peter talked about if he has the chance, he will become a teacher after he lost his job at ock industry & was thinking about his career choice
I like this because at the start miles goes to Pete for help but at the end of the game miles is ready to take on the mantle of being the main/only Spiderman so pete can focus on his work. So we see miles’ character development from start to the end it’s just a nice touch to the story
To be fair he probably would still need help with something like what happened at the beginning of the game. Peter was experienced then and still needed miles help with it
Bro Peter is literally a genius who makes insane tech. Idk why it took so long to start EMF. He couldve started the comoany earlier, copyrighted the tech & just said he's spidermans tech guy. Literally no one would question it.
I always thought it was kind of selfish for him to teach at a gifted school instead of a public/poorer area one He’s giving resources to students who already have plenty of them instead of educating those less fortunate
It's so stupid. Bro could sell photos to a news source that LIKES him and help them and himself make bank while Jameson has no avenue to get good Spidey pics. Easy as fuck.
Wasn't slander, but it is yellow journalism. I will stand by that more than 90% of the Bugle's articles regarding Spider-Man during JJJ's time there was indeed yellow journalism.
I hate that he lost the job so quickly. Would've loved to have seen Peter's teaching style to break up the superhero stuff like it does with the MJ Missions.
In the age of cameras everywhere, it makes more sense to give him another job for story purpose. Obviously someone with a camera is better but new york would have enough footage
Im just glad they gave him a job in the end that makes sense. For some reason he always gets the jobs where being spider-man will get him fired when hes SMART ENOUGH TO BE HIS OWN BOSS. Bro could have been an Independent Engineer/Scientist fresh outta Highschool and sell his designs.
The fact is I feel Jamison eventually would of retracted that article since he doesn’t even try and bring that stuff up in the games to use against spidey and Jamison is the type of dude who will retract if stuff turns out to be false or fake.
peter should just have a go pro on him during the action and livestream it. make some money off the fans when he saves a kid or elderly? and the gov or city really need to start paying spider-man since it’s basically a full time job.
He's a photographer for the same reason Clark is a journalist. Both jobs allow them to pursue their 2 careers simultaneously while keeping their identity a secret as well. I haven't played the game (as I play on XBox One) but teaching seems like a more restrictive role since it's harder to just leave at any time
The beginning of J Micheal Strazinski's run had Peter become a teacher at the same time that Morlun was hunting him. (Over simplified.) I absolutely loved those comics and wanted to finish the rest of the run, its just a shame that it all ends with one More Day.
I still think it’s outlandish that anyone involved real or fictional thought that a 9-5 was a viable idea for “Where is…?” Peter Parker. Well, anyone who knows he’s Spider-Man anyway
Pete also didn't take a photography job because that's not what he wants to do in this story. In other stories that's what Peter wants to do, but in insomniac games he just wants to be a scientist. It's why he works with Otto for no pay, because he loved that work. It's why the EMF was such a big thing for Pete, because he'd be able to actually make money doing science. He likely became a teacher over a photographer to still work with science, and inspire future generations to love science as much as he does.
And also Miles on a “swinging through the city” call with Peter after you finish the main story told Pete he should be a teacher and Pete laughs and says “idk” AND I HAVENT SEEN THE SECOND GAME BUT OMG all of this is so smart
