Why is Richard, the Lionheart? 

The taxation for the holy war actually came during his father's reign king Henry II. Was good effort until your personal opinion came in to it . Richard is a fundamental cog in creating the peace and prosperity and very comfortable life you enjoy today . There is no reckless about it. Also english is a kind of broken French language back then and only developed in to the language we speak today.
