Great information, thanks. Our house is the highest place for miles around and in some weather conditions we can get a downdraft on our chimney, it is not serious but we have to be careful opening the door of the woodburner

Good info. I burn with a vintage Vermont Castings. The stove is constructed using plates and over time the cement that bonds them together brakes down and can cause leaks. With leaks smoke can come back into the room. Especially if any other issues are starting that you talked about. Have a good day.

Great video Case! Same with the video on firewood tips (I haven't commented on yet, what can I say, I'm a slacker). I knew a guy who would get smoke coming back into the room every morning when he tried to get the fire going. He finally figured out that his wife was in the bathroom and turning on the exhaust fan at the same time every morning. Once he figured that out, he started getting up earlier, and the problem was corrected.

My house has a fireplace Xtrordinair 36 elite and just started a fire got it going real nice for abou 5 minutes then it got real windy and smoke filled our house, did the flute not get hot enough? What do you think?

Without seeing your situation it’s hard to give a good answer. If it went well for 5 minutes then I doubt it’s a cold flue issue. I’d check the other things I mentioned in the video 👍

Depending on your stove type your inlet could be wrong with your inlet damper (or outlet damper for that matter). More than often it's damp wood.

My stove pipe go up about one foot away from my roof, and surpass it by 2 feet…but I still get smoke in, will try to clean it but even when I installed it, it s frustrating

The industry standard is 2 feet above the highest point/peak, or 10 feet away horizontally from the roof intersection imaginary level line. Total chimney height, location of house, trees surrounding house, other nearby chimneys, and number of elbows and reducers can also impact this
