@@RaitisRides absolutely. It'll be nice to see things more in detail. For some reason your camera seems to have a hard time capturing images in low light. I would've love to see the interior in more detail. Sometimes it feels like you are in a hurry and forget this is youtube no need to hurry. I do love what you bring to the table don't get me wrong. You are absolutely on point, just me neat picking. But, If you ask me, yes, look at the amount of comments with less than 1k views. Absolutely, classics are always a great watch but give us more visual content. You have to start using more editing trickery, that way you can give us more detailed content.

I believe a more important function of the front air dam was to keep the amount of air flowing under the car down, thus keeping the front of the car from lifting at speed. Ford learned a lot about this from the GT40 program; the early versions were acting like airfoils and threatening to take off!

Didn't have a Mustang but my first car build was a 68 Galaxy 500 and I put a Boss 302 in her. To this day she was the fastest car I ever owned she would literally fly. Going flat out she would rock up to 140/150 mph before I would be forced to let off. That was the point air under her would start making her loose and start to float. The sound of that engine was only surpassed by one other engine. The Merlin Rolls Royce that was used in the Other Mustang the P51

Would give anything to have her back who knew it would become one of the most collectible vehicles. When I had to get rid of her it was sad but at the time all she was worth was junk price. To put the port and valve size in perspective... The big block Chevy 427 and 454 have two different heads. The square port and oval port heads. Most people think that for street use the 454 is easier to drive with the oval port heads. The square port heads are too big for the 454. The ports and valve sizes on the B2 are almost identical to the BBC Square port heads, with 150 fewer cubic inches. The best part of the B2 is driving it. It is total junk just putting around but at 3500 RPM it starts to comes alive. Keep it over 4000 and it is magic.

Another great video! I'm old enough to remember all those awesome vintage cars, but still you at heart now to appreciate the new ones. I actually prefer the new cars, but still have memories, and appreciate the old ones, even some of the turkeys. They were all part of the culture that added color. This Boss 493 was s classuc, like the Camaros, Firebirds, Gtos, like the Red Goat with the weird fender decals, the Buick GSX, and the Mopars like the Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth offerings. And yes, you can forget the awesome AMC Gremlin, Pacer, and Matador. Lol My dad bought me a big metal mustang bump and go car that would not fall off the table edges. A real life car like that would be great for the Flat Earthers today. :D My dad had lots of older cars before I was born, but had a 57 Chevy my older brother got to drive, and a big 59 Buick LeSabre like the old Caddies with the big fin fenders and cone taillights. That was a cruiser. I later got to use my mom's 73 Buick LeSabre 2 Dr with the 455 engine. Not a GSX, but that car had power! Later I got to drive my dad's Pontiac Ventura 2 Dr. Hatchback, essentially a Chevy Nova. My first car was a fully loaded 77 Buick Regal S/R two door with a somewhat anemic 350 during the gas guzzler era, but it was the last if the big GM G body two doors, like the Monte Carlo, Olds Cutlass, Pontiac GP. Before they downsized those popular cars the next year. My car had the GEX chrome 15" rally wheel U shaped Shifter console and Bucket Seats. I got a high powered bi amp Sanyo AM/FM/8 Track with Jensen Triaxial 6x9" rear speakers. I flipped the Air Cleaner cover to get that loud intake sound until my friend later helped me put in an aftermarket 4 barrel carb, and higher profile 4" chrome open air filter. It had the full sport suspension, so it handled pretty good. I later got an 81 Buick Regal 2 door Sport Coupe, the predecessor for my 84 Buick GN. Then I had my 2000 silver Chevy Impala LS trunk monkey special, and that 2006 Impala SS with the 5.3 V8 and Flowmaster mufflers, before I got my 2011 Cruz RS. Remember that Olds 442 with the Hurst Lightning triple shifters? Lol Good times. Now, I am looking at getting car brands and models I would never imagined back then.. Wouldn't bit be great if you could get any car or vehicle from 1960 to now, brand new, however it was offered with today? With parts and service availability if today's cars? I wonder what everyone would choose? I would probably get my old 84 GN with the nicer interior, and all the aftermarket parts available for it.

FYI Mr. Raiti, the front "spoiler" is NOT for cooling the engine. It is there to reduce the amount of wind drag by diverting the turbulent air flowing under the car, thereby increasing the speed of the car. Hence the name "spoiler". Also, the " shaker" scoop was never used on the actual Trans-Am racing cars. When Parnelli Jones was piloting these Mustangs, he was road racing NOT drag racing, no need for ram air scoop!

That "orange" color Raiti was talking about is "calypso coral ". Fyi, that front "spoiler" is designed not so much for cooling, but to lessen "air turbulence" under the car to a minimum so that there is less air drag to deal with at high speeds.

I'd also thought I'd put to rest the question whether or not those Hood pins came as a factory option ,...no no no and no you could order it, and have it dealer-installed and it was deemed to be a better option to have the hood pins so that the hood wouldn't fly open at speed and wrap around the windshield because he pre-existing pull handle mechanism often did have problems where it became unlatched suddenly that's why having the additional Hood pins is a very good idea

1969 is the car to own - 2 1/4" intake valves, 780cfm ... basically a big motor configuration in a small motor ... and cross-drilled crank. I owned the 15th one made, first day production. It was more focused on its TransAm roots. Not much torque, but when the secondaries opened up, pulled to 7 grand like no other V8.

I believe it was called a "shaker scoop", not shaker hood. It was the scoop, after all, that did the shaking, not the hood. Just a point. I'm a bit surprised that you didn't comment on the greatly understated horsepower by the manufacturer - Ford rated it at 290 HP. This by the way was common practice by GM and Chrysler too, as a result of both government pressure and the insurance companies, to try to reel in the horsepower wars between makers. I have read actual output was closer to 375 HP. In Trans Am racing trim it was around 430 HP.

Is there anything that you don't "Love" about any car? Spoiler is front wasn't for cooling, it was for down force. Trans Am racers didn't use the shaker hood. I owned a 69 Boss 302 new and later in life a 70 Boss 302. Great cars.

Geeze Joe. I thought I could throw curve balls. TWO uploads!? My bullet throwing Fountain Pen isn't quite cooled down from the first upload. "Heat" is not my friend. LOL Oh yeah, don't get carried away and start throwing knuckle balls as well. 😍 Okay, have to shoot some bullets now. 1. You mention the Trams Am Series/SCCA and that the Javelin was part of it. Not the AMX? 2. So Ford gets the credit for Shaker Hood, not Mopar? 3. I saw the Hurst shifter. Was this from the factory or from the current owner? 4. The name fits this Mustang, it is certainly "BOSS!" Damn, only four bullets. The Fountain Pen jammed. I guess I gotta let her cool down overnight. Lastly, kudos to the owner. You need to keep track of this Mustang, I'd love to see a more in depth review with it on lift and listen to it. These Mustangs did have a sound onto themselves.
@RaitisRides
@RaitisRides 5 лет назад
I have to keep you on your feet, I mean your hands Peter! I thought heat would be your best friend since you live in the Arctic Tundra! LOL 1.The Javelin & AMX were both part of it. The factory AMC team were the first to run the AMX. 2. Yes for beat them to the punch, although Dodge is the one that brought the name back when they reintroduced it on the 2014 Dodge Challenger. 3.Yes sir! Hurst from the factory! 4.That is so true! I am going to rack him down at the next event and also try to bring more Muscle Cars to the channel! You better be on your toes, I mean fingers! Until we write again!
@petercarey6883
@petercarey6883 5 лет назад
LOL. Ohhh, the agony of da feet, I mean da fingers! lol I do live in, or I should say, on the Tundra, but once the permafrost sets in, I'm dead in the water, or more to the point, frozen in time. :-) But unlike years past, pre-Raiti's Rides, at least now I have warm hands with my glowing hot pen. LOL Thanks for Shaker Hood history. I always thought it was synonymous with Mopar, but as I look back, I didn't have too many friends with Fords, they were mostly Chevy and Mopar guys. I am aware the new Challenger brought it back and technically the new ZR1 jumped in, or should I say, shook themselves in with it as well. FYI that's ZR1, like in CORVVETTE! Even you Ford guys must remember the CORVETTE. Keep Dance'n with Rides. I'll be Dance'n With Bears, POLAR BEARS that is.
@RaitisRides

I think why everyone associates shaker hood with MOPAR is because they used it the most compared to Ford or Chevy.

Oh my God talking about Ford is talking about the great History of automotive,starting with the model T,the great contraband of alcohol , thanking Mr. Henry Ford for his cars so good and fast , the GT40 in Le Mans , American car primet winning nothing more and nothing less than Ferrari , Mr. Henry showed him who he was to Mr. Enzo . And then Carroll Shelby with the 350 and 500 , and let's not talk about the Cammer engine , and the F150 with a lot of History , Oh may God l love Ford cars . In my Coutry Argentina there is much rivalry Ford and Chevrolet from 1937 until now, Ford has much more won Championships , ok my friend greetings and very good video .

@@dougfa3515 That's right , in Argentina we are very fanatical about car racing . In the US they will be 71 years old with NASCAR , and we will be 81 years old with the TC [Road Tourism ] The cars are Ford Falcon , Chevrolet Nova , Dodge GTX and Torino , which for you would be Plymouth GTX and Rambler 440 , these two last redesigned . We go to the races with the flags of each brand , which measure about 30 feet , plus the drums, similar to football but without violence . OK GREETINGS . Keep in mind that in the 1937s it was only Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet Coupe and from 1962 the other cars .

I have mixed feelings about muscle cars from that era. Modern muscle has made old muscle cars obsolete in nearly every category. If it wasn't for the ease of repair and timeless styling, this era would be forgotten. Hopefully kids growing up in the age of Teslas, ZR1s, and Hellcats will continue to cherish our heritage.
