I've been in the bike business 24 yrs now and I can say for a fact, the people who scream NO have actually never ridden one. It's in a class of its own.
I own a 2018 DCT Tour and a 2023 CVO RoadGlide. Two very different bike. Performance, handling and comfort Goldwing wins no contest. The new CVO is surprisingly pretty nimble but very top heavy. Power and acceleration it’s hard to say which is faster, I believe the Goldwing might have the edge with the DCT. I bought the 23 CVO to replace the Goldwing, honestly because I got board with the bike and the constant that’s an “Old person bike” and the “I need a clutch” comments, but I can tell you now nothing can hold a candle to the Goldwing. I will be keeping both for now. Goldwing is like a Tesla Plaid and the CVO is a Hellcat, both are fun for different reasons.
I'd have to reply back. How many old person bikes accelerate this fast? And, exactly why do I need a clutch handle? Or, I DO have a clutch. Two clutches to be specific.
I had only Harleys for 20 years before I bought my DCT Tour Wing last year, and while I still own 2 Harleys one of which I bought used as a nostalgia cruiser after the Wing purchase, the Honda is outright the most incredible bike I've ever ridden, and I've also ridden the BMW R18B and K1600GA.
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA New one or Old one? Curious. I have a C10, ZX11 and ZX14R. And an Ol wing GL1100. I just hate rappiong my shin on the Wing engine happens ALL the time and Love the Connie tourer. The other 2 are just RIPPER's.......and I do love them yes.
I test rode one a couple of months ago, DCT model, and it was amazing! I own a Indian Chieftain and honestly if the numbers were better I may have traded my bike that day! I love my Chieftain and they didn’t want to give me fair money for a trade so I walked away. But it had nothing to do with the Goldwing. The other thing is I’ll be turning 61 next week and the Goldwing, while heavy standing still felt like a sport bike once it was moving. And not having to shift gears in my older age is definitely a plus. I like the look of many bikes but it all comes down to what fits you the best.
Love my 2022 GW Tour..and...I am 74...reduced weight of bike and low center if gravity make it very manageable. I drive it in manual mode..95% of the time..!!
All bikes have good and not so good points. The rider/buyer needs to decide how well the bike they are considering meets their use cases. Goldwing riders do get a fair amount of anti-wing bias from other brand riders. For me, all bikes are cool. The more important things are how you treat your fellow riders and the larger rider community. Stay safe and keep the shiny side up!
Love your videos. I've wanted a Goldwing for decades and finally made a dream come true this December. A brand new 2024 green bagger DCT is waiting for me and for warmer weather, at my local Honda dealer. Watching your videos allows me to vicariously enjoy my new bike through your rides - thank you. Btw, I'm in Ontario Canada and it'll be March before the weather improves enough to take my wing home and start riding again. 🎉
I’ve been on Ultras since 1990 and 220,000 miles. I rode a 2021 DCT in 21, and I’ve been trying to get one ever since. When I find the right deal, my 2012 FLHTK is history. The new GW is way more than just the DCT. Like the OP said, “Ride if before you blast it”.
I traded my limited on one last year. Part of the reason I bought it was because it was different. After three Harleys in a row. I found it to be refreshing. I love it.
I was a bit younger when I wanted my first new motorcycle back in 1999. I ended up getting a new Honda Valkyrie and still have it to this day. I pull out the now antique Valkyrie for a ride and it’s still outperforming every bike in the group in stock form. I added a new KLR to the garage last year and do enjoy most of my riding with fuel injection but still. Once in a while I pull out the Valkyrie and open up 6 cylinders attached to 6 carburetors and my need for speed has been satisfied for a while.
I love my 22 Tour DCT version. Came from Harley's and BMWs previously. I do wish there was more starage in the side bags, but the top case is huge and I bought a luggage rack to strap things to the top of it if needed. A few things I wish it had: a touchscreen navigation. There are so many buttons and remembering what does what is confusing sometimes while riding. The center pocket storage tray gets very hot, which is where the phone goes when plugged into the USB. That poacket should also be lockable. Too many PROs to talk about, but power, handling, smooth shifting and ride comfort is 2nd to none. I will get another bike (smaller) to crusie around on, but to tour and be comfortable this is it.
DCT isn’t something I think of as a “pro”, but I don’t think of it as a “con” either. I think I would prefer a clutch, but I’ve been on an Africa Twin DCT, and it was a blast to ride!! The idea of needing to prove anything because I have a clutch and shift lever is behind me. (I guess you could say I’ve grown up😂)
I personally think the new versions of the Wing look fantastic. I am sure I’ll own one eventually. The only thing I find a bit of an issue is passenger comfort, and smaller storage capacity…
Bought a 2018 DCT Tour, my third Wing. Best Wing ever, until the next best Wing comes along. It’s not without its faults, but no car is for everyone either. I did replace the seat with an Ultimate, and have Helibar risers along with highway boards. I use the onboard GPS without issue. You have to learn it, and be open minded about how to use it. Not everywhere you ride is going to have a cell signal to keep apps running accurately. I use Scenic app and make sure that I also dump the routing to the onboard GPS. Keeps everything covered. All of these things make the bike very non-stock, but also make it perfect for me.
Good Vid man. I have a 22 DCT, heavily experienced on Goldwings for many years and harleys and yamaha's. I bought my 22 and put in sport mode my first week. and well it scared me!! Yea get those nay sayers saying its a car, to get on one of these and put in sport mode and "try" to take off by barely twisting the throttle and not be thrown off. Then they will change their perspective of this bike. I took to the dragon and kept up with alot of the faster bikes. cant really turn to deep due to some outward features, but it did very well! I love mine! I would buy another. I wanted to keep my 2016 GW that I traded but alas no room in the garage to keep both. BTW, I bought the non-tour because I had a tour and didnt need all that stuff on it all the time. with this one, I can lower the shield for a free air ride on very warm days, up for cold days. My only complaint, the 2018's and up are narrower than the 2017/below. My legs get wet in rain, my old one, not so much. I would stay dry.....well almost, some rain days are soaking....so...you WILL get wet no matter what. I cant wait to do a tour again on the PCH(twice for me on the old bike), when I get some time off and travel from texas to San fran. takes about 2 to 3 days to ride the pch from L/A....if you have a goldwing this is the ride to do..... Back to the DCT, for the money, you get alot of options that you couldnt get on the older GW's. I have the base DCT (matte blue), wicked looking bike, compliments all the time! Some people ask me what it is...LOL. You get the Nav, ABS, Sirius XM(with subcription) Car play(with the purchase of a headset-ugh). sport bike bike type prowess, and guranteed to give anyone wanting to play a run for their money at the lights or on the twisties. I really enjoy mine. If want to go fast I take my bike out, and I have 2 corvettes!!! LOL one more thing, I did update mine with back rests, for comfort on long rides. and passenger for the wife, to keep her on the bike. heh and a rack, on trips to the dragon and to Arkansas, I use a large trip bag and strap it to the rack perfect!! I have taken 3 long trips on this bike in the last 2 years and its awesome, my 2016 was more comfortable i think but this one likes the backroads. its quiet and fast. and really quite good on gas. sometimes over 268 miles.
I used to say I never liked the way they looked. But I was in a Honda dealer and looking and one and sitting on it changed my mind. In person I think it looks great. And the low center of gravity is awesome. With reverse. I'm a short rider and I ride a Road Glide now - trading it for a Honda Rebel as soon as the 24's hit the dealer in the next couple weeks. Maybe in a couple years I'll switch back up to a Goldwing
For the cons: I've found the GPS to be sub-par. My 12 year old VW Passat has a navigation system that is easier to use. I'm 6'5", I wish the mirrors were a little wider and I wish Honda offered a "tall boy" option for the seat that came with the GW. I also wish floorboards were an option available from Honda, right out of the box.
I'm also 6'5" and looking to pick up a 2024 Goldwing DCT Tour next week. I've looked for tall GW owners to get some insight on the GW comfort to no avail. Maybe you could share some of your thoughts into what mods a tall rider needs to do on a stock GW. Have you raised your handlebars? Custom seat (I read that the Corbin seat puts you back 2 inches which would be good)? Taller windscreen? Anything? I'd love to get your feedback.
@@timosaarelainen8431 - I'm fine with the handlebars as is, but I wouldn't mind if they were a little higher. 2 inches back on the Corbin seat sounds awesome! I will have to look into it. The taller windscreen is a MUST!! You will absolutely need it. My previous bike was a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50T and it took me about 3 - 4 rides to get used to the GW. If you can afford the Corbin seat, I would get it. I've put 10k miles on my GW this past year, and at the end of a long day of riding, the only thing on my body that hurts is my heels, which is due to the way my feet rest on the pegs (i got the bigger pegs, btw, I forgot to mention that), I'm guessing the Corbin seat being 2 inches further back would help.
I made some changes to my DCT Tour to fit my 6’5” 230lb self. Corbin seat sits me back 2” without giving up passenger space. Klock Werks 20” wind screen is same height as stock, but it has a recurve lip so I can keep it low and look over the top. Also put on highway pegs. Toured around the western U.S. and the bike is extremely ergo friendly.
In my opinion AB, you are sitting on the best all around motorcycle made. Honda screams reliability. I owned many other Honda's in my time, bulletproof. I would also mention the Eas ability of removing the rear wheel on the Wing. Excellent video.....
Wow! Your bike looks absolutely sublime! It’s STEALTH! You nailed it. I own an ultra blue 22 DCT Gold Wing Tour Airbag. Sport mode rocks! Woohoo! The engine when ripping on it really does sound similar to a Porsche flat six. Anyway. Love the look of the stripped down Bagger or as it’s called, the Gold Wing. As you said Storage is easily handled with numerous offerings for either the passenger seat-bags that can serve as a back rest or go with a rear rack bag. Never heard that about a dealerships not working on a bike after so long. I’ve owned a new 84 GL1200 and 96 GL 1500. Never was an issue. Well done with your’s. My bike can be seen on Middle Age Road Rage’s video Gold Wing of the week. Nice job here. I likey! Enjoy that beast.
The Goldwing felt very strange to me coming off 10years riding a Victory Cross Country. I managed to put 5300miles on the Wing between August when I got it through November when I put it away for winter. The Honda completely won me over, once I did a few things to get it setup for me and got settled in with the riding position, feel and sound I realized Honda knew exactly what they were doing designing this bike. Yes, it has power, handling, comfort and reliability. I do my own maintenance and I'm not looking forward to the air filter change and it is a bit of a pain to work on in general, but I don't feel I want to "do things" to this bike, its a rider not a wrencher.... ;)
So many ppl just hear and regurgitate the "Hondas have no character/soul" or "they're too good/refined" nonsense! 🤦🏽♂️ Honda has ALWAYS and continues to make some of the best bikes in the world! AND, I own a DCT and manual bike. It takes a little getting used to but once u do, it's awesome!
I just bought an 1986 Honda gold wing interstate. It runs really good for 38 years old, it has 28,040 original miles. I think the gold wing is the best motorcycle ever manufactured in the history of motorcycle manufacturing, I you keep up with all the maintenance on time, the gold wing has been known to go over 400,000 + miles before it needs a rebuild. That's how well made the gold wing engine is made. You will not find a better motorcycle.
Your low tire pressure light is blinking. And changing the air filter is a total pain. The engineers need to figure out how to make it so you don't have to remove the whole top of the bike. And did I mention the paint scratches way too easy and so does the instrument cluster cover. There are quite a few minor things that could be improved but this bike is a stunningly good piece of kit.
How tough is a Goldwing? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QJG7SiPg9Ek.html Still not convinced? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VNbcTorZn3c.html
I was going to buy a new Goldwing but a simple bolt called the UBS bolt is causing a lot of engine failures and also preventing me from buying.. I bought a Mazda MX-5 instead..I hope Honda fixes this problem or at least address it..
ONE more comment. I currently own a BMW but once I owned a GW. I’m a one pony owner ($$ & lack of real state) but if I could have more than two at a time one of them would always be a GL.
People who have a problem with the Gold Wing are as we say in Australia are just drop kick’s and there are an awful lot of them in the USA right Trump😅
I dunno about the sound complaints. Listening to you ride the bike in this video, I think it sounds pretty cool. I’m about 57 years old and appreciate bikes that are a little more quiet, while my son prefers the “louder than hell” sound of triumph triples with unrestricted exhaust.
Great video. I rode a 2019 blue tour dct, I made a slite error while waiting at a red lite, i hit the Mode and went into sport mode to see how it worked. Lite changed n i was doin 45 mph through the inter section, what a thrill that was. I WAS SOLD. I searched for weeks into months trying to find a 2021 BD . I found my bike at a dealership 30 miles from me put down a deposit and rode it home on my next day off a week later, in the rain.... i have enjoyed this bike more than any other big big i have ever owned. I have ridden a lot of motorcycles over the years from my 1st harley to my k1200 bmw lt. All the nay sayers are wrong.... this IS the best bike ever. I remember a few years ago goldwing riders crying about only having a 5 speed, Now the manual comes with 6 gears or the dct 7 speed trans. True NO bike is perfect, But the Honda Goldwing comes very close. I have made over $ 3,500. In what i call farkleing but 90% are for safety, n the rest for MY comfort. Makes it MY perfect bike. I DONT care what others say . Really They dont know what they are missing. For me and thousdands of other converted goldwing riders its the only way to go... Oh and this is my second wing. Had an 81, 13 yrs ago... Turtle...
Hard to beat a Goldwing. I've previously owned Indian Pursuit, Challenger, Chieftain Elite, Roadmaster and now have a 2023 Springfield I purchased a few months ago. Since I wanted variety in what I drive, I also traded my Indian Vintage on a 2024 Pearl White Goldwing Tour DCT. This will be my 3rd Goldwing and the best by far.
@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA I was blessed to have a very successful business that allowed me to own these bikes. I do have a question for you regarding the road sofa seat. I'm 5'6" with a 29" inseam. Does that seat place you lower on the bike than the stock seat? By the way, you have a beautiful wing!
@@brianleiva4346 it's more narrow for sure and i feel it does place you slightly lower my inseam is 32/33 and i have quite a bend in my knee thanks for the compliment!
I've been riding motorcycles for a grand total of 1 month now. Picked up a 2009 Honda Shadow Aero back in December and started riding in February. Surprisingly, I've had very nice weather for winter where I live. Before getting my bike, I had watched, and obviously still do watch, motorcycle videos for years. I always loved the sounds, the freedom, and it just looked like a lot of fun! I can definitely say without a doubt that I have absolutely no regrets buying the motorcycle! My Dad got an HD Road Glide Limited (2022 I think) about a year or so ago and after working my butt off, I'm able to ride with him now. We've already got a trip planned out to Yellowstone this summer and I've been in the process of making my little Shadow a mini bagger/tourer. My motorcycle came with some very nice aftermarket parts installed by the previous owner and that, along with riding for little while, has given me a feeling for what I'd want/look for in my next motorcycle. First of all, I'd certainly want a quiet motorcycle for long trips. Don't get me wrong, I love the way my bike sounds! It has the Cobra Streetrod pipes and that's the exhaust I would've wanted on a Shadow ultimately. Like I said, got very lucky when buying this bike. I wear earplugs and it's just loud enough so I can hear what the engine is doing for speeds below 50 - 55 mph, but quiet enough to where I hear just as much wind noise as I do exhaust at highway speeds (65 - 75 mph). I have a 21" windshield for reference. I'm not incurring any sort of hearing damage, but for long trips, I think a quieter motorcycle would be one less sensory input to tire me out. Secondly, the seat is a Mustang with a backrest. Absolutely amazing! For about 2 - 3 hours. After that, I need to get up and stretch out a bit. I think a more neutral riding position with the pegs under the knees (like on a dedicated tourer) would be very beneficial for standing up every once and a while. Third point. I can already see the appeal of a front fairing. I have lowers and a massive windshield already and I'm still getting hit with wind at 70 - 75 mph that comes around the sides. I have some wings that I'll be installing on the sides of the windshield once my bike gets back from having saddlebags installed. I love the feeling of the wind! It's fun! But at 70+ mph, it starts to get old after a while. I wear full gear as well. The adjustable windscreen on a Goldwing would be awesome! Fourth thought is about the weight of the motorcycle. My little Shadow is definitely not the heaviest, nor the lightest motorcycle on earth. I think it's very manageable/flickable. Very easy to ride! I've sat on my folks' Harley Road Glide Limited and after doing so, I don't know if I'd ever want a V-Twin style tourer. I get that skill is a massive factor when it comes to controlling a motorcycle, but at some point, heavy is heavy. I'm 5'8" with a 30 in. inseam for reference. I can flat foot the Road Glide, but there is very little room for "tippage". It... is.... soooo.... heavy! The thing weighs almost half a ton and much of it isn't that low to the ground. Look, I get it, thousands upon thousands of people have Harleys and can ride them just fine, but if I can make life on two wheels easier, why wouldn't I? The Goldwing Tour DCT Airbag costs basically the same as a Harley, weighs almost 100 pounds less, the center of gravity is very low, and it has a reverse/crawl function for parking (or just moving in general). Fifth point. Maintenance. My Dad's Road Glide has about 12,000 miles on it and is already leaking oil. The bike has been babied and the maintenance schedule has been strictly adhered to. It's had a Screamin' Eagle torque cam put in it, the Screamin' Eagle auto-tuner, a better airbox, and new header pipes. All under warranty. It's not exactly a racing motorcycle. I've read some forums saying that there's a breather tube that can be adjusted and that'll stop the leak, but that just seems like it's masking the problem. It's not catastrophic oil loss or anything like that, it's just a bit concerning. My 15 year old Honda hasn't leaked any fluids since the day I bought it. From what I've seen from the Goldwing flat 6 over the years, all I hear is people singing its praises for being a smooth, well-built, relaible engine. As much as I like to tinker, I'd rather spend my time riding than working on/worrying about bike maintenance. Finally, the brand image. Harley vs. Honda. Harley is almost more of a lifestyle than it is a motorcycle manufacturer in my opinion. Don't get me wrong! They make really cool motorcycles! I jokingly call my Honda Shadow a "mini Road King". I always thought a White on Black Road King or now one of the new 2024 model-year Road Glides would look killer! But, for better or for worse, Harley Davidson has an image associated with it and unfortunately, it's not particularly an image I like. When I hear "Harley Davidson riders", I think of old guys with a bunch of tatoos, smoking cigarettes in a bar, not wearing any gear while riding, trying to look hard/cool because they have fragile egos. Is this always true? Aboslutely not! But that's just what I associate with Harley. Probably doesn't help that I had a neighbor with a Harley who'd start it, rev it a bunch, then turn it off right across from my old apartment. I guess it could've been any motorcycle, but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. Honda on the other hand has an overwhelmingly positive image in my experience. Reliable and well-built motorcycles with riders, who are in general, very friendly people. They are like the Toyota/Lexus of the motorcycle industry. Might not have the most up-to-date tech, but they're bulletproof and comfortable. This is accentuated with the culture around the Goldwing. When I think of Goldwing riders, I think of people who live in a nice neighborhood, meet up with their friends at a local gas station to go riding somewhere for the weekend (I guess that's not too unique to Goldwings, but it's what I think of nevertheless), are well mannered, and wear full gear. Is this perception true ALL of the time? Of course not! But it is the image I associate with Goldwings/Honda. I am training to be a professional pilot and my ulimate goal is to fly internationally with a major airline in the next 10 years. There isn't much leniency with regards to breaking the law (aka opening up the throttle a bit too much) or even associating with the wrong crowds when it comes to hiring with the airlines. Anything remotely negative you've done can be a reason not to hire you. The Honda Goldwing is not only the better motorcycle, in my opinion, but it also doesn't come with the negative image associated with Harley Davidson. I love the styling of Harley motorcycles, but the culture is just off-putting to me. Don't get me wrong! I bleed red white and blue and consider myself very fortunate to be living in this great country! I feel like a lot of people think that, "if you don't like Harley Davidson, then you're not a true American!". First off, I think that's a bit shallow, but secondly, I love American things! My dream car is a Superformance 427 Cobra. I guess technically that's a based off of a British thing with a big ol' American V8 engine shoved in it, but I digress. It was good enough for Carroll Shelby, so it's good enough for me haha! TLDR: How many words am I at now? Holy.... 1,355... I've written an essay. I guess I'll end with this then. I haven't ridden the Goldwing, but based on the videos, including yours, I've seen as well as my limited experience with Honda as a brand, it'll definitely be my next motorcycle. Great video and thanks for sharing your experience!
I HATE your videos of the Goldwing because it's gonna make me buy one and get me into a payment situation I don't want to get into. 😊 My opinion comments coming later.
@@ccohen1965I totally agree with this, but just because you can doesn’t mean you should. With some of the ridiculously low rates some manufacturers offer it’s better to keep your money in investments. I despise making payments on anything but just last year I made a large purchase with 0% interest. It would have cost me more to pay in cash.
I would like to add a positive note to the reliability aspect . I bought a 2002 Goldwing in November 2022 with 7800 original miles from a friend who's uncle pasted away. Both unfortunately and fortunately I have only been able to ride it for a couple of months because when I brought it to my local dealer for an oil change and a "go-over" they found recall work that had not been done to my bike. The dealer made those repairs free of charge. Further more they also under "warranty" re-welded the frame from the factory recall back in the day. So from my point of view it is very rare to find anyone or any manufacturer who would stand behind a product of any kind that is this old. And, I give the dealer a lot of praise for doing the same. Now I cannot give a fair comparison because I have not ridden any of the other "bagger-style" motorcycles but because of my short amount of experience so far with Honda I would definitely consider another Gold Wing.... if my wife would allow it!
Watched your video a little late but.... You asked what people think of the Goldwing. I currently ride an FZ-10. If you're not familiar, it's a FANTASTIC naked bike that's a blast to ride. I have found myself watching many vids on the '18+ Goldwings. I know one will be my next bike... Whether I keep my Yamaha and get one or sell and get one. I've had interest in an F6B until I discovered the 2018+ model years. I've never ridden one but look forward to doing so. I think it's a great looking bike. Thanks for the video!
Not true regarding 'only get DCT' in 2024. Literally went to my Honda dealer on Saturday July 20th/2024 (Toys For Big Boys, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada) and they had the beautiful green 2024 base (bagger) goldwing with regular manual transmission as their demo bike.
Goldwing = Gold standard, expensive ? Maybe... but the best CVO still does not compare in touring performance . After many motorcycles (27) and thousands of thousands miles, (cvo, ultra, roadking, and lots of Jappy bikes. The wing rules. A new seat would help for sure, but my first pick I'd ride my Honda . So much fun and reliable too. Just no comparison... Ride fast Ride safe.... Fasteddie.
Do the DCT haters also consider the new electric bikes (Zero etc) to be cars too? Pretty sure they won't have a clutch lever but they will have stonking acceleration just like the GL1800 DCT. I think it is a kind of inverse snobbery born of the fact that most sport bike riders are younger with kids and mortgages/rent to pay so owning a modern Goldwing is not an option and so they have never test ridden one. I had a 5th generation GL1800 which I rode for 2 years and dearly regretted selling - a Ducati Multistrada, BMW R1200GSA & Triumph Bonneville T100 later and I'm waiting on my 2023 GL1800 Tour DCT Airbag being delivered on Saturday. Can't wait to be back on a Wing!
My friend has 350,000 miles on his older model. He has a 2022 as well but has kept his old gen 4 as well. They are built to last if you service them regularly and use good oils etc.
Bought a Pearl Brown 2018 Goldwing bagger with a manual when I retired. Sometimes wish I had got the DCT when I have to maneuver the bike backward or slowly forward in a tight space, but do love shifting a manual, so no great regret. Performance and comfort are amazing. Came off of a BMW R1200R: that sounded like a sewing machine; in comparison, the wing sounds great. Looking forward to riding season in NY.
Having owned 25 motorcycles over 40 years, I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the subject. And yes, I ride a Goldwing, a 23 6 speed tour model. No bike is perfect, but overall, it’s an amazing combination of features. Speakers, Apple car play, and paint density are all weak points. Air filter placement sucks. The rest rocks.
I know this sounds ridiculous but I am 5` 5"and find the gw cramped especially with the bars, love the 6 cylinder boxer motor, don't like the dct, especially in the sport mode, to notchy, seat hurts my hips , honda raised the seat height and cut luggage storage,, high 20s in money and then you need to buy another $1000 seat, I loved my f6b, gw are very well balanced, non touring, no trunk, no reverse, no heated seat, no electronic suspension adjustment,, price not bad considering u get a lot of bike, harley cvo $50000, indian chieftain 30000, bmr 1600 rt, big money, good review, just about covered everything, didn't miss much, non tour for 23 is dct only, 24 non tour will come back as optional manual in olive green
The looks of the goldwing are like you said subjective. I've always liked the looks of the goldwing and the new spaceship sleek looking goldwing that they come out with makes me almost drool. But I can't afford anything so fancy so I ride a 1999 Valkyrie it's kind of the Gold wings little brother. And it's true that I can't get any Honda dealerships to work on it in my area Houston Texas. However they're easy enough to work on that with the help of RU-vid I've been able to do anything it needs myself. And if anything ever comes up that I can't handle I think I'd be able to find a traditional motorcycle shop that would do the work, just not the dealership.
Test rode one yesterday never been on one before got back to dealers in Blackpool England, traded in my triumph rally pro, picking up the wing tomorrow can’t wait fantastic bike like nothing else I’ve ever ridden or owned and I’ve been riding motorcycles for over 30yrs
Dealers not working on 10 yr old Goldwing is not even a small problem with me. I do my own maintenance, even the dreaded air filter swap, and for bigger issues (not that I’ve had any), there is a great independent shop 30 min away with mechanics who know Goldwings better than any dealer.
Have you loaded any custom Maps into this navigation system? Ability to pre plan trips and custom routes, usually off main highways, is something that's important and usually done on a computer then transfered to the bike. Have you done this yet and if so, is it Idiot proof, as it should be?
I live in Michigan. There was not a dealership around except for New York that would let me ride one. They all asked if I was going to buy it and I said how the hell do I know I haven't written it yet and they said well we can't let you ride it unless you buy it! So bottom line is fuck honda. BMW opened up their doors and said come on down. So guess what I am Riding. I know that all boils down to shity dealership
I think you mean "lightning". "Lightening" is defined as the movement of a fetus into the pelvis, or to make less heavy... which is what I believe Honda did with the new GW 😊
There is a recal on the new models, 2018 and up for a bolt that breaks inside the motor and completely destroys the engine. Sounds like a mounting bolt or so.
If this posts twice apologies. Having some RU-vid issues. There is a workaround for CarPlay if you don’t want to use a headset. You can buy a Bluetooth usb adapter cable and plug it into your pannier. This fools the bike into thinking there is a headset. I bought the wireless CarPlay box cruiseman showcased a while ago and you can plug into your tank usb port (or topbox if you have an airbag). This means you can keep your phone in your pocket at all times. Works flawlessly every time. I just had to set a delay on the CarPlay box of 20 seconds as the bike needs the Bluetooth headset to come on first.
That is one good looking Motorcycle, That is why I own one. I really like Your seat.I have added Kuryakyn floorboards as well as the hand Grips and highway pegs along with the engine crash guards. For me personally the technology was what really sold me on the bike. Maintenance on the bike is a breeze with the exception of changing the air filter. I think that the sound that comes out of this engine is absolutely amazing, is it loud No , But it sure sounds good when you get it wound up. I solved the storage issue buy buying a tour bag that sits nicely between the the tour pack and backrest. There are aftermarket tourpack and saddle bag doors that are color matched to Your particular year model bike that will allow for more storage, but the bag serves the purpose just fine.
I think u would really like the f4 customs 20 inch tinted windshield it’s one of the best mods I’ve done to mine however I gotta get that heated seat u have 😂
I haven't been on one but am going to purchase one.I am flying into another state to get a real good deal on it.I live in Florida where they don't let you test ride ones that's why I am flying out!
Will be my next Bike, I have the 2023 Rebel 1100, Manuel version and enjoy every mile on it. I feel now I need something big for long ride.also would take my wife on it. Note will only get it with a Manuel version.
I found out about the 10yr thing when I took my 01 Valkyrie in for service, it seems they are not keeping their computers updated for bikes older than 10yrs is what the service manager told me.
First, congrats on hitting the 5k sub mark. Slow and steady kinda like the Goldwing. When I was a young rider I was one of those, if it ain't a Harley you're not riding a motorcycle. Oh how I was brainwashed, As I've grown much older and hopefully become more wiser. Now all I want is the reliability factor and I don't care what brand can deliver it. All I know is that every Goldwing I see on the road they are hauling tail and I get kinda jealous. They look awesome! Loved the video! Ride that Wing and stay safe ABUSA!
I give the thanks to your gorgeous Scout! Scout vids were me looking and listening to riders who owned one. So I could make a better decision to buy or not buy one for myself. You and your videos were a major deciding factor for me! Thanks ABUSA and have a Happy New Year!@@ANONYMOUSBIKERUSA
Jd still think the scout is a phenomenal and fun machine! always love riding mine! happy you enjoy yours as well! big rides ahead sir! Happy New Year !
For me the two biggest things Ido not like the new Goldwings are the styling and the engine configuration. The cylinders are where I would like to put my feet. I have sat on a few Goldwings. I found them to have a high centerof gravity. To me paddle shifters are just like playing nintendo. The shift is still controlled by the computer. If it wants to over ride your command it will not shift. I think the Honda V4 engines were their best ever. The were smooth and had great power and that Honda reliability.
I have not been on a 2018+ Goldwing, but I’ve had three during my riding career. I am currently riding a 2010, I had a 93, and before that an 85. I agree, the reliability is just phenomenal, and the athleticism of these bikes is amazing!! The Sport bike in a touring package is a fantastic description!!
