SOB #486 Why Is the IMF Afraid of Cryptozation?
The IMF has outlined yet another set of concerns it holds about crypto. Is crypto really the problem, or is the IMF just afraid of the things it cannot control?
Join hosts Adam B. Levine, Jonathan Mohan and Andreas M. Antonopoulos as they dissect the October global financial stability report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) subtitled “COVID-19, Crypto and Climate: Navigating Challenging Transitions.” An entire chapter of the report is dedicated to destabilization factors crypto poses, at least as identified by the IMF. It even coined a new term, “cryptoization,” to refer to the introduction and/or substitution of crypto in emerging markets.
Although worries of supply shocks, supply chain inflation and stagflation fill headlines, the IMF placed crypto in the top three stability concerns. Is the organization gearing up to poise crypto as the scapegoat in case of an oncoming financial crisis?

Excellent book! Recommend everyone read it! Like the Petro-Dollar I suspect that exporting USD denominated debt to developing nations was a way of ensuring further future dollar demand. And in the event the country happened to default? Oh well, they just use it as a tool of political cohersion instead. Either way, the US wins.

To play devil's advocate, what they are afraid of is the rigidity of crypto and the constraints that it creates on what policies they can enact under times of stress. Hard money makes sense during periods of stability, which it may or may not help to create given technological and demographic change, but even if you assume the economy would be more in equlbrium what happens when something with a non-economic cause like covid strikes and suddenly money needs to be distributed or parameters to the system need to adapt and the central banks have no power to intervene? Is this a topic that crypto people need to start taking about?

Here's my big worry with the future of the crypto space in general. We are now at the point where crypto's challenge, as you clearly cover in this video, to the intrenched controlling elite's power is materialising at an exponential rate and if it carries on at its current trajectory will make them obsolete very soon, but I just can't see them giving it up without the most almighty fight. Very very interesting times for those that understand this already.

Yes, you are correct, they will most certainly fight it…… and we must be prepared to fight back! While bitcoin may be the most significant non-violent macro economic and Geo political revolution the world has ever seen, that doesn’t mean that we just get to kick up our feet, sit back and each popcorn while we watch the story unfold. Perhaps it will be less of a head to head combat, and rather more like a covert resistance that moves in and out of the shadowy corners of the web? Either way, First shot across the bow has been fired so we had best prepare our defenses!

You sound exactly like GPT-3 lol dollarization is America Inc, or rather the FED and it’s hold over other countries that have there economy’s tied to our dollar, which has/had a planned inflation of 2% per year. It’s a tidy arrangement between the FED and the Bank’s, a borrow and pay back system based on absolutely nothing!! (Was supposed to be based on how much gold is in the reserve) Long story short here’s the catch nobody knows exactly how the system works now, and nobody knows exactly how much gold the reserve actually has, because you see they don’t have to open the registers to anyone and They don’t. Now if you think that true decentralization still exists then your living in a box marked “Sold” and stacked nicely with the rest. If they wish they could make a smooth transition and extend the game even further because of the ability to fractionate the dollar even further (and on a side note I’m working on a token tumbler that will make it seem like your coins are clean but actually add identity to them by utilizing the n-th digit(yes Evil mwhahHa) sry)
