We are already in the big crash, Inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt, the FED will have to pull all the stops. The unfortunate issue is that other markets are being decimated. If you want to stay green, you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 14% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.

People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyper-inflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.
@rogerwheelers4322
@rogerwheelers4322 10 месяцев назад
Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

Hello. I am also a scientist who left in 2014 to Singapore. I highly advise you to go visit those countries before considering your move. You have to do your research properly of whether those places are really suitable for you to live for the long-term. You should be considering the work aspect, and the whole picture as well (e.g. culture, ease of travel, costs, tax, housing prices, political system, history, society values, religion, language...etc.). Needless to say, I regretted tremendously going to Singapore. It took me around 8 years to return to the Western world. Once you leave, it gets much harder for you to return to your home country. The UK has been in and out of recessions and crises now for 50 years. 3 day week in the early 70s. Miners strike and 3 million unemployed under Thatcher. Recession early 90s, when I left the Army and went back home to the West Midlands in 1993 unemployment there was 45%. Late 90s not much better unless you were in London but Blair opened the floodgates to unlimited immigration. Credit crunch 2008. Shite wages after mass EU immigration post 2004. And on and on. You got it in a nutshell. You're probably as old as I am (mid fifties). I remember everything you mentioned in that order. You absolutely hit the nail on the head. It makes me think now at this age there is no future in the UK. It will always be like this. It's a crying shame because the British have SO MUCH potential but all of our potential is being spaffed up the wall because the government see more reward for themselves and their mates in big business than creating a reward culture for hard work for the average small business owner/s who for many years will struggle just to get by. Go abroad and the situation and the comparison becomes stark just how bad it is here.

As a Canadian, I am not sure about this comment. People are moving around to other provinces to a certain extent looking for a lower cost of living, but there is no mass exodus of folks leaving the country. It's actually the opposite, the population growth rate is +2.7 percent . In 2022, the number of Canadians rose by 1,050,110. As of June 16th, 2023 Canadian population is 40 million. The housing supply and demand issue is driving cost on top of inflation and recovering from the impact of covid. Within my personal circle I have two friends that moved from the UK. 1 just got their landed status and plan to pursue getting citizenship. I have a neighbour who relocated his whole family from Houston, Texas because he hates the direction of America. The government needs to address the housing crisis if they continue to expect this kinda of growth. Especially in big cities like Toronto and Vancouver.

There is a shortage of people or in capitalistic terms workers. Canadians are not having big families. Who is going to fill the jobs that need to be done, prop up social insurance, etc. Like many developed countries experiencing stagnant growth rates, immigration is the only solution right now. Anyhow, Canada is a land made up of immigrants whether you like it or not.

That's really difficult. There is always the discussion about languages, and integration. If you look at other English speaking nations (as a first language), a lot of them are having similar issues right now. But the UK have recently enacted Brexit, which, I am sorry to say from my personal experience living in the UK for most of the last 20 years, was heavily based around racism. None of the other English speaking nations have divorced from the worlds largest trading block on the basis of wanting to explore "better" trading opportunities, and yet are looking at GDP declines, and dropping down the league tables of the OECD / G7, in such a spectacular, and stupid self-inflicted manner. I would not recommend entering that racist-infested pit called the UK, until such time as they grudgingly return to the EU. You would be far better served going to one of the EU countries where English is a second language, or, learn their national language before you go. And, obviously, there is the question of visas. I don't know your situation, and I dont want to know. I am confident you will be able to figure out what is best for you and your family. But please be aware of just how serious the Brexit situation was, and what was behind it. @@hammadahmed725 The Indians you talk about are very small in numbers compared to the number of skilled and highly qualified and experienced Indians moving to the UK. Apart from that, Indians work hard irrespective of their background and skills. They are honest, hardworking and best of all, they integrate well into British society, are law abiding citizens, pay their taxes and contribute to the British economy. That is why you have an Indian origin PM Rishi Sunak heading the UK. Pakistani immigrants on the other hand are mostly illiterate, the majority of them being taxi drivers in the UK. They live in ghettos in places like Birmingham where they live exactly the way they live in Pakistan, they don't allow any non muslims to buy property in the areas they live in, and they contribute very little to the local economy except negatively as criminals and members of drug gangs. The Pakistani origin grooming gangs of Rochester and Rochdale who preyed on predominantly young vulnerable white women is a good example of their negative contribution to British society and their toxic culture. The recent incident where about 300 Pakistanis drowned in their attempt to illegally enter Europe via boats is an example of the kind of people who move to the UK and Europe from Pakistan. Illegal and illiterate. Apart from that, Pakistani origin immigrants don't integrate, they only mix with other Pakistanis and being uneducated, they prefer to live on benefits and sponge on society. They bring their toxic culture and religious beliefs from back home with them to the UK, marry their illiterate cousins from back home and bring them to the UK instead of marrying British women, because they find it hard to dominate and control them. They keep fighting for Sharia law in the UK while destroying churches and temples in Pakistan, which makes it evident that religious zealots originate from Pakistan. . Why come to the UK if you want to marry your illiterate cousin from back home in Pakistan and introduce Sharia in the UK. You guys should stay home as you are unfit to live in any civilized society. Sadly your home country is in an equally big mess as Pakistan is now both politically and financially bankrupt and has become a terrorist haven in the world. I am sure you are aware Osama Bin Laden was found and killed by the Americans in Pakistan. And all this while India goes on to become the 5th largest economy in the world. Based on the above, it is not hard to guess who is more welcome in the UK. You guys are not wanted there.

I think it's temporarily. In 2024 we'll see the start of a slow but steady recovery. Remember 2008? Come back in 2024 and leave me a 👍🏽

Arguably, we never recovered from 2008. We have suffered from high debt, high taxes, and low growth ever since.

Nuh. This will be a global recession from 2020 to at least 2031-2032. Just look at historical trend. 1870s market crash that only recovers in the 1880s. 1920s great depression, 1970s oil crisis and now it's 2020s commodity crisis. The global economy is planned and we are all screwed.

It’s only going to get worse as Brexit comes into full effect. Poland is projected to catch up with Britain in gdp per capita by the end of the decade. The symbolism of that is huge.

the first cause is that we still haven't fully recovered from 2008 the second was brexit not as bad as most people in london clame the third was the covid lockdowns caused massive shortages of goods then the war in Ukraine affecting us because we import a lot of energy also liz truss and her awful mini budget tanked the pound these are just the main points

The UK is doing okay. The unemployment rate is very low (3,9%) and there's a lot of activity in many fields. The government could always decide to pour more money in the housing sector if that is the main bottleneck that's causing economic stagnation tbh.... or promote legislation so that it is easier to build more flats in London.

what good is a low employment rate when salaries are MINISCULE?

@fgcpeak9591 in some countries, you can't even get a job + salaries aren't "minuscule" in Britain.
