I pray the transmission issues have been taken care of.. my kia soul exclaim is stupid quick but daily driving is TERRRIBLE! Rough shifts when it's cold it flat out slips in the odd gears i had to manually shift to even gears last winter.. and the air conditioner has failed 2017 kia soul exclaim 1.6T 7speed DC 81k miles. Other than this I STILL LOVE THE QUALITY JUST WISH IT DIDNT HAVE THE ISSUES IT DOES BECAUSE ITS A NICE CAR.
David S not really. I’m only 21 and I’ve had 2 cars that were over a decade old and were manual only haha. Eventually, I’ll try to learn to use automatic but right now, it’s no biggie for me.
I just bought this 2021 Forte GT today. Same color and wheels. 7-speed DCT is interesting. You get some feelings from it but I like it. Cool that it has paddle shifters if I ever want to have some fun. This ride is stiff but no bad vibrations from it and no WIND NOISE!!! You can feel the hard tires though the steering wheel but it's not defect it's just feeling. No steering wheel shimmy! YES!
The Racechip intercepts the readings from the sensors and gives a different reading to the car's ECU. This causes the car's ECU to increase boost thus increasing power and torque. A word of warning - the 2020 Kia Forte GT shown uses a D7UF1 7 speed dry Dual Clutch Transmission which is rated to a maximum of 250 foot pounds. Raiti stated that it puts out 290 foot pounds with the Racechip. I'll leave you to come to your own conclusions.
@@MrRtHemi I have the 2021 Forte GT 6-speed and am trying to boost the power and would love to know some specifics for who i can purchase one of theses chips from. Seems smarter and more affordable than all the money I’d have to dump to do a proper ECU upgrade. Would truly appreciate your feedback.
@@TheJamezon77 you can go to racechip.com or go to pandamotorworks.com also try sxthelement.com these guys perform on our vehicles. With sxth you can ship off your ecu they can tune it for you.
I have one. I wished it had an LSD, but putting better tires helped with traction a bit. Now the 2021 GT comes standard with the PS4S. It was hard finding a 2020 with the PS4S option. Just buying one tire is over $200 and KIA only charges $200 for all four.
The bit about the 2021 GT coming with PS4S standard is just not true. I'm shopping for one of these for my mom and your comment almost made me cross it off the list (who wants tires that only last 6-8k miles and turn into hockey pucks at 40 degrees?) But, blessedly, you can still find many 2021 GT's with normal tires that function all year round.
Just had a new 2021 Forte for a rental on our vacation in Utah/Wyoming week before last. It got amazing fuel mileage and drove great. It was hurting for power a little driving up in the mountains so I would imagine this would make it perfect. I love the looks and they did a great job on them in my opinion.
Honestly, KIA has been releasing some pretty nice designs in the past couple years. If anything, I'd probably lease one for a personal experience to compare to other companies I've had already.
I love the fact that he has the perfect sleeper! He can blend in with all the traffic around him until he lays on the throttle and leave them all behind.
Sadly kia doesnt plan on a n version instead Peter shcreyer is giving Kia gt variant of cars with sports look and some power but nothing compared to Hyundai's N variants decided by albert heiman from bmw m division. So kias not planning on being deep into the performance scene
In Australia these are called Cerato. I bought one last year, same beautiful colour as the one in the video. It is an amazing car and had heated and cooled seats etc. as standard for the GT. I compared many different cars of the same class and the Cerato won hands down in terms of performance, standard equipment, price and warranty. I drove it for a year and loved it. It is a pocket rocket and handles any type of road with ease. Brilliant on long trips. Put on your favourite music and turn up that fantastic JBL sound system and it is pure driving pleasure. It broke my heart when I traded it in for its big brother, the Stinger GT this year. My broken heart got better instantly when I got my supercar, the Stinger GT. I can't recommend the Cerato / Forte highly enough. If you are in the market for a great value for money car, test drive a Cerato / Forte. You won't regret it.
Thanks for the review Joe. Got my Forte GT just 3 months ago. You hit it on the nose, great car, quick, stylish, great bang for your buck. Think I'm gonna grab one of those racing chips and up the horses!!! Thanks for all your great reviews!!! Joe H. - NY
@@fleiteae im in the process of picking the same as Anthony, same options and everything but a 2021 model year with the pearl white color for about $25-26K out the door after taxes and everything
Freaking awesome review Raiti. I test drove a black GT2 and its an awesome ride. It handles great. I think Kia should get rid of the base 2.0 liter engine and let the base engine be the 1.6 liter turbo 201 bhp on the LX, LXS, GT-Line, and EX. On the big GT, the engine should be a 2.0 liter turbo 260 bhp.
Hello from Australia. My girlfriend bought a little Kia Picanto GT Line after I showed her one. She loves it. Dealer is great too. The Forte GT is on the list buy next year. Thanks for this.
My only zonk with this car is the taillights not saying they look bad but that reflector in the middle should light up as well it would look a lot better it's just annoying having a reflector as big as a taillight but doesn't light up
Smart guy, Dillon; _not_ opting for the power seats. Manual adjust is just fine. Especially if you're the only one driving your car. Set the seat literally once the entire time you own the car, and done. (Okay, and the times a mechanic gets behind the wheel too; and you have to adjust it again. But that doesn't happen very often.) Plus, guess what costs a horrendous amount of money to fix if it breaks down. Yup, you guessed it. Manual control seats don't break down.
I work at a kia dealership and these are fun little cars, I've heard rumors that they'll replace the 7 speed dual clutch with the new 8 speed but nothing concrete Edit: the race chip is neat, but careful with the torque as the 270 to 280 range is where your stock clutch can start to slip
It would be nice to get that 8 speed wet clutch dct but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Forte gt is still a pretty affordable basic car still even with gt2 package.
Ive had this car for a few months with the gt2 package and it's amazing and I love it. I watch all your videos on this car specifically over even though I have the car just cause I like it that much
Love your vids....Just picked up a gravity gray 6 speed manual two days ago and I absolutely love it. Not just a great value, but a great car all around. My top pick for a compact sports sedan and it is so damned fun to drive.......
I bought a Forte GT in fire orange at the end of July. Love it so far! Great car to carve up your local back-road. I took a road trip in it last month and averaged 38 mpgs as well.
Man I can't wait till I get my license in March and I get one of these. I really hope the price can come down to the 19k range with the GT2 package lol!
You're really gonna have to work at it. The Forte GT2 is already a bit of a hard find. Maybe you can sucker a dealer into one at the end of the year. Good luck!
Hey joe great review as always. i hope you can do a review for the upcoming 2021 elantra and the elantra N line sedan. choosing between this car and the N line is going to be hard
@Richard Favreau Do whatever you want. You'll be the old guy with the white walking shoes, combover, and your best years behind you. Also, the Kia's got a 10/100,000 powertrain warranty and the 1.6T has been used in literally hundreds of thousands of cars over the past few years without reliability issues. DCT reliability is just fine; they're definitely jerky at low speed, though.
@Richard Favreau Definitely agree there. That said, the current Corolla's pretty lame compared to its competitors. That said, the word on the street is that Toyota's working on a "GR" or "Gazoo Racing" version of the Corolla which is supposed to compete directly with the GTI. I'd be all over that, personally, especially with the interior on the newest model.
@Richard Favreau Let's not go crazy here. 200-250 HP is not anything like the 600+ HP in the Porsche Walker was driving or the 592 HP in the McLaren. I'm talking about having enough power to merge safely onto the highway with 4 people in the car when getting onto a highway with moving traffic. I guess this is the world we live in - where people think there's Corollas and super cars but nothing in between.
Forte GT GT2 Package is where its at. Heated and cooled seats, improved stereo, remote start is an ad on. Only available with the 7 speed DCT. I have heard some bad things about the Hyundai/ Kia DCT, but hopefully by now they have worked out the kinks and make it a smooth operator.
Test drove this one and elantra gt Nline, but decided on 2020 Kona, same engine, but with AWD, and cheaper insurance. Love the 1.6T DCT engines! Awesome review Joe!
The 2020 DCT makes a lot grinding and clunking noise. I try to follow best practices for owning such DCT, but sometimes it worries me. Any comments from anyone experienced in them?
I have race chip, sxth down pipe, ypipe exhaust, injen intake, run 93 octane, 6 speed manual. The last time I ran the numbers 252 hp 270 lb tq not bad for a 1.6t
Kia is currently making very underrated cars. I love my Forte GT 6sp. But don't be fooled in thinking it's that fast, at least stock. What I will say is that it handles better then expected. The engine takes a bit to get going. I'm sure a tune will help that but stock.... I'll say it's just good enough. I also am not a big fan of the brakes . Daily driver they are fine but when tested they are just ok. I'd love to get the tune but I'd hate to void my warranty.
Mario Valdizon good question! It doesn’t affect the warranty at all since it’s doesn’t affect the ECU. When you take it in for maintenance, simply unclip the racechip and it goes back to stock.
I bought a Kia Forte GT 3 weeks ago in gravity gray! It's also my first car and I only got my driver's license a month ago haha! I love it and love your videos Joe! Now how do I get that race chip like Dylan?
I've had my forte 5 GT ltd for a few months now and its great! I just ordered a intercooler resonator delete replacement for mine, want to get a jb4 for it!
Hey Joe, great review as always. I love my 2020 GT Forte. Car is such a great bang for the buck! Can you please find out what kind of chip was used on this Forte. Would like to get one and get up the ponies on my GT. Thanks again. Joe H. - NY
Well if you compare a stock Forte GT to a Civic Si it’s be a different story. If you wanna put upgrades on the Forte GT then you’re making it more like a Civic Type-R.
The KIA brand still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but it shouldn’t. They’ve really stepped up their game. As a Honda fanboy and a Civic Si owner, I think Honda has some things to learn from KIA for the 11th gen Civic. I especially love the steering wheel and old school handbrake.
@@RaitisRides what system did he use? And awesome review dude I have a grey one. People are really sleep on these cars, if they looked into kias engineers they would stop hating
Take those numbers with a grain of salt. The car shown has a D7UF1 dry 7 speed Dual Clutch Transmission rated to an absolute maximum of 250 foot pounds of torque. The manual transmission variant can take more torque. Sounds like the owner is stating the torque upgrade possible with a manual transmission. I own a 2020 Kia Cerato GT (New Zealand) with the same transmission but in hatchback form. A great car.
Great review Joe. This inexpensive sleeper is very cool. Would love to see a modified civic si with hondata chip sometime. Keep up the good, down to earth reviews 👍
Drove off the lot 40 minutes ago with a 6 speed 2021 forte GT. Love it, was looking at a 10th gen SI used but loved the way the Kia drove and I got one new for a cheaper price than the civic.
Me too! I'm a college student so I am considering this or the Stinger to be my first car since I live in NJ & with the snow & rain we get in NY & NJ I might need a car with AWD
@@adsmith12345 Can you explain to me more about the chip and if installing it can damage the engine etc because of what it's designed to do? Asking to know because I don't want to damage the engine and void the warranty on a 2021 Forte GT that I'm considering buying.
@@caseydawson473 hey man, search “Kia Forte GT racechip installation” and they have videos from the company explaining how to install it. No damage to the engine, and even it it does, Racechip offers a warranty if it’s due to the chip itself, so they will cover the costs.
@@adsmith12345 Hmmmm Can I put a chip in the Kia k5 GT-line so I don't have to spend the extra money on the higher priced GT? Just curious how much HP I'll get.
My girlfriend has owned one with the GT2 package for close to a year now and it really is a fun car. The best part about it? It has a better exhaust note than my Type-R 😂
Another great review, I saw one of these today in White, it looked awesome, I was taunting him from stop light to stop light, but he wouldn’t go for it, at least now I know the capabilities of these cars. I’m Stoked to say the 2014 Fiesta ST started this revolution. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺🍺🍺
I recently bought a Kia Forte GT manual and I love it! It’s an awesome value (especially with all the deals) and has enough power to be fun within the speed limits.
I have a 2019 Elantra Sport which is essentially the same car and it is endless fun times drive. Anyone know where I can pick up one of these sport chip piggyback systems?
You cannot use the same chip for your elantra, your compression ratio is lik 9 something. Forte gt and veloster turbo are in fact the same motor due to compression ratio's of 10
