Why is this LEGO Star Wars Set so special? 🧐

I wish they would give this many minifigs in ‘normal’ sets like this

I remember seeing this set in the old lego star wars book that had all the sets up to that point. Always wanted it (along with everything in that book lol)

I think something interesting of note is that the Imperial Shuttle in this set is nearly identical to the same Shuttle set from 2001, although some elements are different like the light bluish gray instead of the old light gray pieces and the hinge piece holding the landing ramp door.

The "Original Trilogy Edition" sets were to celebrate the Original Trilogy coming out on DVD. Which happened fall 2004. This one of the few exclusive sets that only have this logo. Many sets that been released in 2004, could be found in either the 2003 style box art(an Attack of the Clones inspired design) or the "Original Trilogy Edition" style.

I found parts of this set at a garage sale! Not all of it, but enough to build it and have most of the minifigures. Great Set!

I got a bunch of Lego Star Wars sets from a friend like half a year ago and didn’t think anything of it. I recently got super into Lego Star Wars and looked through the bin yesterday and this set was one of them!

Man I wish there were more episode 3 and 6 sets, they're my personal favorites in the franchise and I just love everything to do with them

I don't normally leave comments like this but I just wanted to say that I appreciate the effort you put into your videos. Because of your channel I am allowed to share my love for LEGO and Star Wars with someone who can show me stuff I would've never seen. This set is awesome and I didn't get it when I was a kid but your video on it brings me great joy. I'm rambling but I just wanted to let you know that I'm a big fan!

This is hitting a memory I haven't had in a long time but I think I had this set. I would have been 13. I particularly remember having Palpatine with his cane and the little cargo speeder. I also had the imperial shuttle but I don't recall which version, if there were multiple back then. My Lego sets from back then ended up loose in a bin all mixed together then eventually made it's way to my brother's and Idk what he's done with them so it's safe to say it's long gone.

I have a bunch of these early 2000’s sets all broken up in bins at my parents place, and I kept all the directions from my childhood. I really need to take the time and rebuild them.

It's so cool to me that we both were born in the same year and got brought into Lego around the same time. I always thought you'd be older than me as I remember watching you during building kashyyyk series. Some of the first Lego sets I ever had were the clone turbo tank, arc 170 clone scout walker, Darth Vader transformation, droid tri fighter, General grievous chase, and wookie attack. Looking back I had a lot of the major eps 3 sets.

So crazy that this set is so highly valued- I had it as a kid and loved it, I think I have most of the figures still in tact.

I was also 8 when this came out. I never had it but my best friend did and I always remember the printed leg stormtroopers. Wish I would’ve gotten it back in the day, pure nostalgia

I know they would never do it but I wish Lego would do limited edition run of old sets. Same box and everything. Maybe make it a VIP thing.

I had this set! its the reason i love that shuttle design! God I endlessly re-used pieces of that set for YEARS, the wide flat wings, the cockpit, those printed pieces? all perfect for MOCs and play! now im tempted to go see if i can find one!

The Zam Wessel Speeder Chase set came with the heads already on the minifigs. I recently built the set from a sealed box and it was the first time that I had ever seen it (or heard about it). Currently waiting on a sealed Imperial Shuttle set bought on BL at a price I couldn’t pass up. So it’s really cool to see that you posted this today!

Old sets were much more fun, new sets look much better and don’t fall apart *all* the time. I think this shuttle is a rerelease as well, but the accessories and figs are new.

I always wanted the classic grey emperor figure ever since I played lego star wars the complete saga. So many great memories.

I made my own throne room set that I loved. Complete with sliding doors, collapsing platforms, rotating throne and window with a cardboard star field background…. The elevator and drop shaft. Was one of my favorite things I made from many special pieces I collected to do it…. Really wanted Lego to make this someday and never saw it. I wish I would have documented it and took pictures of it to share cause it really was a personal favorite thing I made from my childhood.

I found this set at Atlanta Brick Co last month. It was used but complete and the figures look brand new. So happy to find it!

Oh wow. Such a good and sad memory for me I remember getting this set when I was 11. The coolest thing I owned and I had really good memories making stop motion movies with my brothers and these minifigures. I dropped the shuttle maybe four hours after building it. Perhaps its nostalgia but thanks for reminding me of this set and the happy memories it brought to my childhood.

Hey, this was my first ever Lego Star Wars set! I still look back fondly at it, it's amazing how different the Lego world is now compared to 20 years ago.

I finally got into getting retired sets from 2014-2020 era. So painful to open them to get the stuff inside. Can’t imagine what opening this one was like.

The emphasis on the set being fun is what is really missing from modern sets. The sets look great, they're very well detailed, but the inflated part count doesn't lend itself to more functions being added or inspiring play as much as the older sets did. This shuttle is almost a 1 for 1 recreation of the shuttle from 2001, basically just swap the grays and browns for bluish grays and reddish browns and you're set, there was no real need to change it because even though the original was not perfect, it had all the necessary details to differentiate it as an Imperial Shuttle, and it had the basic features, too. Adding the cart and the little station also lends to new play opportunities, even if they aren't 100% accurate to anything we see in the movies. That wasn't what was important, it was the opportunity of play. Don't get me wrong, new sets look incredible, but they end up being more or less just replicas of things from Star Wars that happen to be made out of LEGO than something from Star Wars being given the LEGO treatment.

I love watching unboxing videos of rare old Star Wars sets! I recently opened a sealed 7186 Watto’s Junkyard set from 2001 and it was so cool to open up a piece of history like the set you just opened.

There were 5 sets I really wanted and I got 3 of them: the E-Wing, the Republic Y-Wing, an AT-AT, a Republic Gunship and The Ghost from Star Wars Rebels. I'm just missing the last two, but the Gunship is releasing this year and, honestly, I'm glad it'll be the red version

I remember scraping up the money to buy this kit back then, I remember thinking $50 was a lot but I’m glad i got it in time before it was gone from shelves.

I remember coming back from a holiday to Portugal and not having spent a penny. My mum took me to Toys R us when we returned and this set is what I bought. I still have the complete set to this day. Although I wish I kept the box. The Palpatine is absolutley awesome!

Gotta be a Star Wars nerd here really quick - The shuttle in this set isn't the Tydirium, the Tydirium was the shuttle that Han, Leia, and Luke flew to Endor with the "older code sir but it checks out" to deactivate the shield generator on the Death Star II. The Emperor's shuttle was still on board the Death Star as the rebels were landing the Tydirium on Endor

3:08 I have one too, or maybe it is a "Dust Star" as mine is old and covered in dust lol. I love the old set you showed and would love to get it one day too. The only old set I have rebought years after is the Battle of Endor, I got it 1 year ago as it is so nostalgic to me 🙂

This is why the 6211 star destroyer is my favorite lego star wars set of all time. The building methods may be more advanced, but i dont think any modern set beats the classic play functions(of coursenot counting "swooshability"). I'm glad I'm not the only one that appreciates play features almost more than screen to set accuracy.

The shuttle is a Lambda shuttle, the Tydirium is the name of the stolen Lambda shuttle the rebels use.

im not the type to keep boxes or whatever, but any SW lego set before like 2008-2010 box arts were just so clean and well printed

I got this as a birthday present the year it came out. It was a ton of fun as a kid.

If lego put out a set like this today it would be on back order for months because it would be so sought after, strange that lego doesn’t want to generate that type of revenue

I had it and still have those mini figs it was awesome! And those mini figs are how I view those character in legos. because I did not know this was a rare set when I got it at ten. Which yeah that may be why I'm disappointed in modern sets... Just not of an value then what I grew up with... Although Mini craft, Leggo mario and Duel on manlore still have it even if most of lego dosn't...

I managed to get a great deal on this set a few years ago on eBay, without even knowing much about it. He is 100% right when he says it's rare. You never see it listed new, and when it is listed, the set is missing figures. Good luck to those trying to get it 100% complete

Those stormtroopers are actually insanely good, the hip printing is just amazingly good and honestly ahead of its time imo despite its misalignments. Definitely a great set that needs a remake for depicting a very iconic scene.

I don't have a lot of pre 2014 sets when I got back into Lego, but probably 5 years ago I picked up the endor bunker and thought it was crazy compared to today. 12 minifigures, a large cloth element, a decent sized building, side build, two speeder bikes and AT-ST for $99. By comparison I just paid $80 for...2 speeder bikes and 3 minifigures lol.

I just randomly clicked this video, don't even watch that much lego content, and it feels weird listening to you talking about how special this set is, because I got this for christmas 2005. I was just a kid, having just seen Revenge that year, excited about christmas as my parents used to gift me one or two lego sets for christmas. And then I opened this exact set, with my dad being almost apologetic not having found any sets related to Ep3 (apparently every shop nearby was sold out of star wars lego). This was the only set he could find, but I was super excited anyway because Star Wars. The set is probably still at my parets house (in pieces ofcourse), but now I feel like I need to find it.

I dont know if I could bring myself to open a sealed box like that for such a rare set. Hope you enjoyed
