My horse is so well mannered and schooled but when I’m working around him, he’s 16’2 gelding, Hanoverian, I always run my hand down his back then around his hindquarters so he always knows it’s me , trust, he’s a soft gentle horse but not with people who don’t know what to do, he picks up their anxiety when I try and tell them to relax , as a little girl 5 years my grandpapa always had me walk behind my pony close running my hand behind their hind quarters and chatting, if she were startled being closer was safer
