If you'd like to try any of these out i've typed up the recipes in my own words with some tweaks / notes here barrylewis.net/recipe/chicken-recipes-tiktok-is-obsessed-with/ For more chicken recipe ideas, here's a playlist with more videos ru-vid.com/group/PLfItiEY3o1muWFG9PwrVLE1-YVR4Qx7VR
You should pour the honey back into the honey bottle once it cools down and save it. I'm sure you'll find a million uses for it and the bottle is convenient 😂
Annatto is a harmless dye, obtained from berries. It is most commonly used to colour cheese - Red Leicester, Double Gloucester, Dorset Red, amongst others. It's a natural dye, and very possibly replaced Cochineal, which is obtained from a specific kind of beetle. The making of the dye kills lots of these beetles, which are dried and crushed to a powder. Replacing cochineal means that vegetarians can use Annato.
Annato is a berry and usually used dried and rehydrated. Used a lot in Filipino cooking and is used mostly as something to colour but does also add a botanical flavour too. One of the biggest usage is a dish called Kare Kare. Interested to know what you found going down the rabbit hole of google about annato that seemed to spoke ya as it’s been a fair staple in Filipino cuisine for years I gather 😂
Annatto is a NATURAL condiment made from the seeds of the Achiote Tree. (here in mexico we just call it Achiote) Its scent is described as "slightly peppery with a hint of nutmeg" and flavor as "slightly nutty, sweet and peppery" The condiment is typically prepared by grinding the seeds to a powder or paste. Similar effects can be obtained by extracting some of the color and flavor principles from the seeds with hot water, oil, or lard, which are then added to the food. Hope this helps Barry
@@Pravculear There is NO such thing as MSG allergy. Science studies have shown that there is zero evidence or proof of its existence. Nor is there salt allergy. The problems people have had have only been misattributions or wrong handling such as adding insane copious amounts of it - in fact, the "symptoms" people tend to always display when they say they have problems with it are the exact same ones humans have when eating large amounts of regular salt.
The algorithm isn't in his favour, I've been subscribed since 2015ish and he doesn't show in my feed at all, I have to search Barry to make sure I see his stuff.
Goya is the company, Sazon is the spice blend. They carry those boxes of Sazon packets even at the local Dollar Tree stores for about $1.32 with tax, or 16.5 cents per packet. You can rent a motel with a kitchenette relatively inexpensively, just in case you want to try. I'd suggest Boston over NY, b/c it's less expensive.
He could come to Disney World with the family. We have entire Spanish communities all around. Multiple flavors of Sazon carried in all of the grocery stores. With and without annatto and msg.
Annato does have more than just color. There's an earthy taste as well. Amazing you couldn't find the "sazon." Goya is a Spanish brand, though those seasoning packets tend to be more Puerto Rican and Latin American in general. The "juicy chicken, " shredded, looks like it's pollo tinga in origin.
@@stanwbaker Their products are occasionally available in Poland in Biedronka stores. They have themed weeks (Italian week, Portuguese week, Asian week etc.) and during South America weeks they often sell adobo seasoning, "Sazonador Total", jars of anatto, chimichurri and some frozen products, like fried plantains or cheezes.
This batch of recipes looked so so good especially the Alfredo were you can tweak the recipe like add bacon instead of penned do tagliatelle maybe add some red leicester for bit of colour but sooo cheesy as people put philadelphia or boursin instead but can go many paths but these looked yum yum indeed, good job Barry 😂
I love how, with all of the amazing, intricate, and diverse things you've made, a pile of chicken, cheese, and cream might be one of your personal nicest things. Don't get me wrong, all of those things are delicious! I'm just surprised that would be ranked so highly given all you've done. :D
Also an idea I saw when you're coating/frying stuff like this -- instead of resting the coated protein on a wire rack, you can rest it on a plate which has some extra panko/breading mixture on it. It'll soak up the excess still and make sure you don't lose any breading!
As other may have pointed out... The second recipe is so yummy because you added a literal tonne of MSG. Parmeggiano (and any matured cheese for that matter), tomatoes, mushrooms, all contain MSG and that's why they enhance the flavor. In Europe we using a lot of MSG just not in its clear form
My favorit fast recepy was chicken, a bag of onion soup, cream and cheese, put it in the oven for around 20 to 30 minutes. I made it with hole wheat rice (brown rice)
I think we need a "Barry's top ten", The top ten favorite recipes you've done throughout the years. Maybe its the recipes you took and now use on a regular basis. It could be a new series or just a special episode.
Hi Barry! Sorry I know everyone has an opinion online but mine is intended to help - I ‘think’ you put the lime wrong into the squeezer thingy…. You’ll find if you put it in upside down you’ll get way more juice out of it. Hope that helps. Love your videos - thank you!!!
Took a shot every time you said chickin'. I am SO drunk rn. ;) Also, Mrs. B's worried face at ~10:40 was hilarious. "Oooh, no, i should not be around this food." :D
@@annother3350 it's not bad for you either. no studies have shown it's bad if consummed in recommended quantity, like salt. the myth of msg being bad stems from racism
Sazon is amazing Barry. If you can get to a Hispanic food store it's well worth getting a couple boxes. That one little packet can make everything taste better. Beans, beef, even fish.
It's easy to dial down the richness of the pasta bake. Just use whole/semi skimmed milk and a smaller amount of cream you can use bacon or mushrooms and make the sauce more mushroom based
Adding a teaspoon or two of Dijon, English or Wholegrain mustard to the sauce, would have also elevated it's cheesiness and given it a bit of a kick. Also, adding either some smoked ham/bacon, mushrooms, spinach or onion/leeks, along with a few mixed herbs, would also likely made it taste even more delicious.
So as someone with Hypertension I've found a few brands of Salt free broth mix, Knorr makes a fantastic garlic and chicken stock. Herb OX is also a good brand for both beef and chicken, then you can just add salt or potassium chloride as you like.
6:17 gives us a Mario empowered with the rare and elusive Barry Leaf. Jokes aside, that clip would be perfect for a "Barry Lewis with no context" compilation video, like the one we got for Ross Scott. ...there's even a Hidden Luigi, like it's an Eltorro64RUS video. *_what is happening_*
Chicken Spiedies : marinated grilled chicken( I have used an air fryer at times in place of grill), placed on a toasted sub roll and drizzled with creamy sauce! It’s delicious. I would recommend using Americas Test Kitchen recipe for it. Will send it to you if you can’t find it. Great video today!
Just for the record MSG does occur in nature. It's made buy fermenting sugarcane & other starches. Most people who can have salt can consume levels of MSG normally found in prepared foods.
The MSG is the only reason Sazon Goya is any good. Dont leave it out! I say that as a Mexican, and you really dont want to downlplay its significance in Mexican cooking. (we put that stuff on everything)
Tried a marry me chicken recipe, it was so good I cooked it for the second time tonight. However I was out of regular chili flakes so I subbed in some bird’s eye chiili flakes and put a bit more in…..big mistake, my God it was spicy!! Gotta try the honey chicken, had the pasta bake before.
Hey Barry, You don't have to fly to America. Go to ALDI: grab some "red bag chicken" (it's the frozen chicken breasts in a bag that has a red border), some pickle slices, and some brioche hamburger style buns. Cook the chicken in your air fryer, butter the buns, put two pickles on the bun and then the chicken hot out of the air fryer. In my opinion, better than a chick-fil-a sandwich and always hotter. That first one...DAMN!!! I'm going to have to make that because it looks like no trouble at all. Some of my favorite recipes are five ingredients or less. That chicken looks and "sounds" amazing!!! Another great video! Mark
On the Chick-fil-A front, wait 'til next year, they're apparently set to open restaurants here in the UK, so no need to fly across the pond, there's also Jollibees and Popeye's here in the UK for other fried chicken options to play with on the Buy vs. DIY in the meantime... :D
You could probably get Sazon in a Filipino shop. Annato: definitely in the same Filipino shop. You might have to ask the shop keeper to direct you to it.
Definitely should've chucked some MSG in that spice mix, would've made it even better! The whole "MSG is bad for you" thing is basically all lies, most of which is based/originated in racism. I highly recommend getting yourself a bag of it to include in receives, i can't remember if i got mine from a supermarket, i think i probably got it online, but it was super cheap for a massive bag of it.
I’m in Ibiza atm (fly back tonight) and feeling very old. I’ve spoken to lots of younger people who said TikTok is so wild, they’ve cooked tittok meals that haven’t worked or are crazy. One even said a recipe made her microwave explode. I hope your recipes have more luck and aren’t as dangerous!
@@mrbarrylewis the WiFi wouldn’t let me watch live so I’ve down loaded to watch on the flight. Maybe you could find some that don’t work and experiment to make them work as a video?
Thanks for the video Barry, at the start you mentioned Goya. this is the brand of Sazon not part of the name of it. Easy mistake due to how the packaging is. I don't know if they sell products over seas but it's a brand sold in stores here in the USA. I encourage anyone who reads this to boycott Goya. The CEO is on record repeating the "big lie" here in the states. I don't want to get too political I just want to encourage people who
I'm probably going to do a video on it first, i've not really used it much but am aware it's a popular topic so i'm keen to do something dedicated on it
How about deep fried ranch Barry? Seems to be a new hype and my boyfriend really wants to try it, but I might want to see you make it first before I try it myself 😅
My favorite way to do chicken on the stove top or hob (I guess), is in a COLD cast iron pan with olive oil place the chicken skin side down until it has browned, it can take a few minutes, flip and cook through. Soo good and the best "chicken bacon" (skin) out there.
Guess the pasta chicken bake could be made with wholemeal pasta, some low cal creme Fresh and some low cal cheddar cheese. Would also be cool adding some chunk veg to it, like carrots or aubergine maybe
That first recipe would probably be nice cooked over some proper lumpywood charcoal, add that extra layer of flavour with the smoky taste of a barbecue... :D
Barry, instead of doing over the pond recipes, have a look at Honest Burgers. They're mostly in London but there's one in Bristol. Each of their restaurants has a local special and there's a monthly special available in all restaurants, you could try to replicate a few of them! My favourite so far are Warren Street (bulgogi BBQ bacon!, kimchi!!!), Dalston (fried plantain, chilli mango aioli!) and my local - Camden (Taleggio cheese, white truffle mayo!) but there are others I'd love to try - for example Cardiff (Thai theme), Manchester (Honey Rum BBQ Sauce, yellow pepper mayo) and Bristol (smoked cheese! I *LOVE* smoked cheese).
WOW! Those sound amazing! Nothing like it near me here in the US. It seems to me that all those stories about the bad food in the UK are just OLD STORIES. A bunch of RU-vid channels I belong to clearly show that the diversity of food in the UK has grown exponentially since I left 300 years ago (okay 52 years ago). I have to drive for 30 minutes before I can find an Asian supermarket or even some good plain fried chicken, 45 minutes for some Korean Fried Chicken wings.
Doesn't take much for followers of TikTok to get obsessed over food - a few years ago they all got obsessed about a brand new Food Dish which no one has ever heard off and they just created it..... It went viral.... It was Tuna pasta bake..... My Nan used to make us that when we were kids in the 80s. I despair sometimes....😂
Absolutely fab video Barry, however if these are the three best chicken recipes ever I think the logical conclusion is to combine them. Marinade then fry the chicken, the breadcrumb and deep fry, then bake them into the cheesy pasta bake which you can drizzle with hot honey. It would have made for objectively the best meal EVER.
