The telltale sign of someone who is trying to pull a fast one or is lying usually is they talk really fast in order for the other person to not be able to interrupt, but then also string along a number of details that get confusing after a certain point. Judge Judy is too good and smart to fall into Patty's trap.

She’s entitled to raise his child support, and he’s entitled to have his monetary contribution to her valued against what he owes. If the court didn’t consider it for whatever reason, he’s entitled to ask for it here (because that means the court determined it did not benefit their child, even if it sort of did in a circuitous way). Now he can pay that money to her again to have it counted toward his obligation.

He's actually the one who's insane...wanting to be with that person.
