I saw the title of the video before going into a race, didn't watch it, i got a golden mushroom, and used it with no coins. I got last. The Mario Kart gods are vengeful.
I always knew they made you faster, but didn't realize how big the impact was. I remember struggling really hard with the 200cc music park staff ghost, and after a few hours my friend told me to try getting some more coins. After a few more tries I beat it easily 🤦♂️

But then I have randomly stumbled across one of your shorts, and my reaction after finding out about bagging, bullet extentions, how to properly drift and etc. was like chef skinner reading the letter. You also need to pay attention to the characters you pick. You see, some characters have hidden stats, like Lemmy, with his green shell stat (it’s at maximum), and Petey Piranha's god damn head that unlocks the hidden banana slipper stat. Thanks Nintendo.
When I say "slow karts need coins" this is what I mean. Since it's an additive boost, the less speed your kart has, the more of your speed comes from coins. This is also why speed karts are so bad in this game. Ironic, that the one kart that cares the least about coins is almost universally the one that's the worst at coming back from disadvantage due to bad acceleration. The only real way around this is to use a mushroom to get back to top speed since acceleration doesn't matter there.
Yes that's a good detail. The speed increase from a coin is the same flat increase for all combos. In other words, it's not actually a 7% increase, it's just close to 7% for the best combos. If you use the fastest combo, it's closer to 6% because of math
@@josephblomberg7077 Well it doesn't really matter, just prioritize coins no matter which combo you're on. High speed combos are insane at making comebacks, so you can slow down to get coins even more than usual
I actually reaĺly underestimated the power of coins because one time i was playing mk8dx and i was in first with a 10 sec breakaway and i had a star! but i had no coins so by the next lap i was in 7th and i did not even get hit! THANKS NINTENDO!
For the same reason, sometimes it's actually good to not switch to bagging too early in the race. If you can manage to quickly get your coins up to 10 and just drive (no items required), you can often make a huge comeback on lap 1 because nobody has coins yet
When i was younger in the WiiU, I saw speed lines when i collected coins, so i collected them even when i was maxed, but i never knew it was that important 😅😂
I did some math! So each coin makes you 0.7% faster. I used an average of 35 seconds per lap for this calculation. (variable 't') My goal was to calculate how many seconds of a race must pass before you save one second over your twin who has 0 coins. Let 't' be the expected laptime with 0 coins. Let 'c' be the number of coins that the player has. Let 's' be the speed increase expressed as a decimal. Let 'x' be the calculated laptime with 'c' coins. Then plug the numbers into these formulas: s = 0.007c x = t(1-s) Let 'l' be the time saved per lap. Let 'p1' be the time saved per second. Let 'p2' be the number of seconds that must pass before you save one second. l = t - x p1 = l / t p2 = 1 / p1 0 coins: Not applicable. 10 coins: 14.29 seconds must pass before you save a whole second. 9 coins: 15.87 seconds must pass before you save a whole second. 5 coins: 28.57 seconds must pass before you save a whole second. If you're looking to save 0.250 seconds... 10 coins: 3.57 seconds to save 0.250 seconds 9 coins: 3.97 seconds to save 0.250 seconds 5 coins: 7.14 seconds to save 0.250 seconds Correct me if my math is wrong.

Before there was the upgrade to more than 4 perks I still just did jug, speed cola, mule kick, and quick revive lol or double tap in place of mule kick if the map has it

This game is fun to watch, but MAN does it look like a chaotic headache. For me at least, it's obviously fun for a ton of other people to play, and that's great!
Yes.. I'm here again. A QUESTION; i haven't seen video which would answer it, and I really like to play mario kart, even you're the only tuber who haves good answers and explanitions. So here it is; Is it faster to be in air with the glider, or in the ground with the kart?
In theory it depends on your air speed vs ground speed, and also your coins. Coins don't speed you up in a glider, so if you have 10 coins then you're probably faster on the ground. I'm not sure exactly how many coins is the equal point. In practice, if using a high mini-turbo combo, being on the ground is faster. You usually should have high coins, and on the ground you can charge mini turbos which is faster than going straight.
I usually run bowser or inkling in a max speed build because that's just what's comfortable for me, and coins really exaggerate the sheer ability I have to pull ahead
I’ve looked at the maths behind MK8D stats. Every stat has “points” which get converted into “bars” using an equation. (Idk why they can’t just display points.) I think everything you’re saying is right but the visuals suggest far more speed boost than what is actually occurring. I could be wrong but I think coins give 0.5 “points” of speed, not “bars” of speed. Half a bar is more than half a point. Not trying to be “that guy” but figured you would be interested.
I played through all the mario kart games again and super circuit on the gba is similar, in that it's impossible to beat the cpu without coins and you need them to unlock the hidden tracks. Super circuit is the hardest mario kart game, the cpu characters seem to assist the one who's nearest to you on GP points.
When you look at the ingame data stats 10 coins make you 5 km/h faster😅 When I remember correctly the slowest speed stat was 72units and the fastes 84units in 150cc but I am not 100 percent sure
Crash team racing and crash nitro kart both have wumpa fruits ten of them makes you go super fast and juices up the power ups or items to be more potent
There could have been an indicator on the screen like a speed increase icon next to the coins. Dont know why a game like Mario Kart which has a lot of casual players keeps mechanics of the game kind of unclear

Oh. That explains why I’ve been getting first place in all the races using Dry Bowser, the master cycle zero, master cycle zero wheels and glider nah I’m almost at 200cc💀
As a Mario kart Wii player coins are the stupidest thing ever like to replace the bad box with coins was not only an awful idea but a major downgrade in my opinion
solution to win at Mario kart: 1. Don’t be poor. 2. If poor, start taxing the other players. 3. If still poor, get a job. 4. If still poor, you have a skill issue.
A lot of young kids don’t realize the importance of coins. I was in a MK8D tournament a few months ago and a lot of younger kids signed up. We played 4 grand prix matches and each winner would advance to the finale. I had no problem breasing through them, cause… you know… they’re kids. But all 3 kids that made it to the finale thought they could win by just doing Waluigi Wiggler. But of course none of them bothered with the coins. So i knew i had it in the bag. And funny enough hardly any of them knew about drifting
Ok so, funny story… I watched the Pro Guide before bed last night, and I had this weird dream that you were at my place with some of my friends and we were all playing Mario kart. I got up to get some water, and when I came back, you’d picked a combo for everyone based on our play styles but mine had outside drift and I was like unreasonably mad about it lol.
