Why Is Zenitsu awake and locked in when he falls into the Infinity Castle? In Demon Slayer Season 4, The Hashira Training Arc, Zenitsu falls into the Infinity Castle, but he's awake? Zenitsu has always been a cowardly character on the surface, and I can respect that. He represents the very normal reaction of the average person who has been placed in the situation he's been in. But there is no denying that, even with his great fear and lack of self-confidence, he never fails to do the right thing. And, like Zenitsu, any and all fear or self-doubt would be thrown out and replaced by anger, grief, and resolution if I was hit with the hard truth of a loved one having to die in order to take responsibility for someone else's disgrace. There is no shame in acknowledging your fears and insecurities so long as you follow through with your convictions and take action.

It's also something I'd like to mention, that part of why he's locked in was because when Jigoro did end himself due to the situation, his failure with Kaigaku and all basically made him decide he doesn't deserve a quick and painless death. He picked and forced himself to suffer because of what Kaigaku did. It's not a long fight, but it's definitely one of the best fights of the upcoming arc imo.

Just to add a little more detail Jigaro died a slow and painful death as he committed Seppaku, but the problem is he was alone so no one was there to behead him so he doesn't suffer which is what piss Zenitsu off even more. Jigaro was Zenitsu grandfather figure so reading about his slow and painful death upset him plus knowing the cause just made him snap.

What's interesting is that in this match up, Zenitsu is only able to use one move in thunder breathing and he fighting his rival( now an upper moon demon) who can use every thunder breathing technique EXCEPT the first technique (which is the move Zenitsu uses)

What happened to zenitsu is kind of the thing that tanjiro fears the most. Having giyuu and urokodaki commit seppuku if nezuko ever eat a human. Jigoro committed seppuku because kaigaku turned into a demon and already ate people. The difference is that Tanjiro still has nezuko, giyuu, and urokodaki, while zenitsu is alone now.

As per my theory, there is a possibility that zenitsu may have heard the conversation between Gyomei and tanjiro that kaigaku is the reason for innocent children died in the temple by a demon where gyomei is trying to protect ( in season 4 episode 7), As after then only zenitsu become very serious and sitting in that huge boulder 🤔

Zenitsu is easily one of the strongest Demon Slayer that they had to Nerf him to only be able to go full strength when asleep. He could take Daki single handedly in a single move if he wasn't injured. The only guy who could do that back then was Uzui. Since we're already at spoiler territory (don't read if you don't want any more spoilers). I'm really glad Nezuko married him.
