I've had my computer using my webcam mic for almost 2 years now and had no idea how to fix this. Your tutorial helped my teammates be able to hear me better, thank you so much!
I find it extremely unpractical that Windows 10 (and other versions of Windows BTW) make it so difficult to fix a microphone sound. All possible sound settings related to a microphone in Windows should be placed at ONE and only ONE single central place inside the control panel. And in there, there should also be a button that says "reset microphone to default settings" that works. We really don't care of all possible settings: all we want is that it works, that's it. Also there should be another separate tab for headphone & speaker with all possible settings, and the settings must be on that page, not some kinds of links that bring us to another page.
Well said. I'm so sick and tired of it giving me random little links to "speak with manager" nonsensical shit, and other non-needed crap. So goddamn CONFUSING!
I have an A10 gen 2 headset that works fine on my console but I just resent li built a pc and when I use the splitter cable it works. When I try using my microphone on the headset I literally have to shove my mic in my mouth to register it and my friends say it’s low . If anyone can help thank you
Having switched back to PC from a Mac I had spent a couple hours addressing issues unique to PCs and was grumbling about how easy Macs are. The mic issue was driving me crazy. Muted...man, I feel like an idiot. You're a life and sanity saver!
My beats headset isn't even showing up in the sound using the 3.5mm jack. Any help? I just wanna use the mic, the sounds comes out the headphones perfectly fine, both my PC and headphones are the 4 pin conductor/jack
I fixed it using the Audio Console ->Device advanced settings-> Connector retasking -> Headset. It's important to note the difference between headphone and headset. Headphones does not include any microphone whilst the Headset does.
@devind2k197 go to start then search "Audio console" click on the app that shows up, then click on "Device advanced settings" at the bottom left and change the Analog to "Headset". Let me know if it works :)
I am the stupidest person to ever exist. I spent hours and hours watching sketchy tutorials, reintalling drivers, removing my antivirus, blah blah blah blah blah. Just to find out that my mic was MUTED! THE FIRST THING IN THE VIDEO! I feel like such an idiot. You are a life saver man! Thank you so much.
Great video. Unfortunately, none of the steps here fixed my problem, but I did really appreciate your helping me walk through a lot of the possibilities.
SO, I Had a Echo problem on windows 10x/11 and I went to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and Manage Audio Devices. It opens a Sound tab, Then click recording, then disable the same thing that you are using , for example I was using normally Realtek Speakers for Audio Output and Recording and expirienced echo. Then disable and done Thats all LOL. I AM SO DUMB :p
@@Will-fs7oz When to the dell website. went to my device. Installed the audio drivers from there. AND MOST IMPORTANT downloaded the wavesmaxxaudio from the downloads list there. and when I got it working and plugged in the headphones, you can pick headset and the mic will work
I have a laptop (Nitro 5 AN515-52) with only 1 headphone jack (4 pin). My headset is Hyperx Cloud Revolver. So far, no video has helped me whatsoever. When I go into Sound, and check the Recording tab, only the laptop mic (Microphone Array) and some other mic is available (Stereo Mix). My mic is never recognized in that setting and I'm still looking for a solution after a few months. (edit): I finally found a solution. In control panel there should be a setting called 'HD Audio Manager". I then double clicked on the icon that looks like a headphone jack. This was set to "Heaphone", and I changed it to "Headset". This fixed the issue instantly.
Jonathan Magana Go to Control Panel, and then on the top right type ‘Realtek HD Audio Manager, then on the right side double click the headphone jack and change it to headset. If that doesn’t work, try the others.
i just want you to know how much you helped me. i have been blindly trying to navigate headset problems for THE LAST FOUR YEARS....no joke.....including thinking that i just needed to buy a new headset.....i have bought approximately 8 new headsets and probably more . Thank you , thank you , Thank you.
same! I plug my headset and the windows pop up ask me what I have plugged, i select mic in and headphones but the audio that is recorded is the same audio coming out of my headpgones
Him: First, check if your mic is muted Me: Shut up, im searching for a solution. Im not this stupid. Me after this video: Checks mute button and sees that the mic is muted...
Lol mine really didn’t work and i tried everything and then did fix it. But i was like: its still not working fck and gave this guy a dislike, it was just muted while i was fixing it and the solutions actually worked🤣
my headset mic doesnt show up when i go to control panel and click recording! What do i do? i have also clicked show deactivaded mics! what do i do?? plz help
When I go to hardware and sound it says that my microphone isn’t plugged in which it is. But I can hear audio from all the games I play I just can’t talk to anybody
Click the *windows key,* type in control panel, and open it. Go to *Hardware and Sound* and click on *Realtek HD Audio Manager.* That got it to pop up for me so I hope this helps.
@@Arda-yy9bj www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/realtek-audio-control/9p2b8mcsvpln?rtc=1&activetab=pivot:overviewtab i didn't see raeltek manager, but this is the one they used in the vid, however for me i don't have a lot of the settings he shows for some reason. Hope this helps some.
i figured it out you wanna go to hardware and sound, then click on add a device after the tab pulls up you wanna plug in your mic and click on the option headphones (with microphone)after that you wanna go into sound settings and click on ur speaker/headphones and jack mic. hope this helped
Thanks a lot, mate! It was the privacy settings, I was not even able to see the green bars at the setting because mic was completely not allowed at the privacy settings. Great applause for going through the privacy as well! Well done!
wow, you are amazing. I am no techy, but you just gave me a crash course in a few minutes. I fixed my mic....i kept thinking it was the headphone jack.....now i can ....duhhhhh.......God bless you.
Oh man, do I feel stupid. RealTek Console had my headset muted, thus making everything else like Discord not recognize my mic, however I could hear anyone speaking, even music. I tried everything and was ready to return it, lol. Thank you for posting this video, seriously, no other articles I read mentioned the Manager.
I'm using realtek, 3,5m - Plugged in the front, I've had this issue twice now, the microphone just don't get detected, and nobody can hear me, I haven't changed anything. The mic is in pristine condition, tested on laptop works. with discord, and games. I checked everything you've done so far and nothing have worked, drivers are updated, I'm using speakers to hear music, and I am only using the headphones mic to speak. last time it worked, I didn't do anything special, I plugged it in, and it worked. No stereomix or anything, somehow, then i failed me. and I randomly clicked buttons in the realtek program, and somehow magically it started working again, now I have the same problem and I have no idea what to do,. The mic worked the day before, just magically stopped working. Or well... They were placed in the back, and I accidentally pulled them out, and they kept connecting and reconnecting, until I pushed them back in which might have damaged the mic (Pink) thing. However I tried putting the 3.5 headphone sticks in the front panel which shouldn't be damaged and the same, nothing. I do have sound though.
I THANK YOU FRIEND! I've been at this for about a year trying to figure this out. you didnt have my solution but you gave me a few ways to make my own. i cant give you much so hears a like comment and sub. im literally crying with happiness.
That's awesome to hear you were able to figure out a solution to your problem. When I made these videos I knew I wasn't going to be able to help everyone because there are a host of different settings and setups that any one of or combination of things can cause problems. Also I'm only able to comment on problems I've personally experienced and found solutions to. My hope in making these was to show people the most common problems I've experienced and the solution to them and beyond that, hopefully at the very least give some info that will help people find the solution to their specific problem if it's different than the things I've experienced and know how to fix. Cheers to you man. Enjoy. 🙂
same, its plugged in and everything in my pc acknowledged that it is plugged but sound the bar thing doesnt move, its a check bar and its there but it doesnt move, my mic isnt muted because its a flip to mute
@@shualel i have the EXACT same problem. ive scoured the internet forums reddit youtube heck even microsoft tech support chat. but nothing.... if you ever find anything please respond to this comment
3:28 i am almost giving up since other always saying the same things which is to "update" driver... but my man! your are my savior! the moment i saw that "Realtek HD audio Manager" i realize that i haven't check it yet, and my god i finally fixed the mic problem on my lil sis's laptop! thank you very much for this helpful video!
bro I was so mad getting new headphones and all websites say "Make sure apps allow the mic!!!" but the simple do mic in first and then headphone worked and im so thankful
my headset just had to be set as a "headset" in the realtec settings, this is so dumb. the option used to pop up automatically and ask if it was a headset or just a mic etc. but one day it just stopped working but everything else worked fine. until today after work i come home headphones work but mic doesn't, went through everything i knew and came up empty handed, found this by a miracle , thanks
Have Sennheisser GSP 500 and recently my mice volume was low...long story short been battleing with it over a month, asking people around with no clear solution.🤔 Than I have founded your video and my Microphone volume was too low in Sound-->Mic Properties....😒 So yea, thank you very much! Its working now! 👍👍👍
Holy crap you are a life saver! I was confused by this for almost weeks and had to use my phone to talk in discord. You don't understand how awesome you thank you so much for making this video!
Ive had a problem with my audio for 5 months, the problem was that my headset did not connect its microphone to the computer. I resolved this problem by reinstalling realtek drivers, and checking the realtek audio console. Aamazing Video!
Thanks so much, the bar in microsoft sound settings didn't show any movement when I talked, I simply had to turn my mic louder in its own settings (I think it was called levels) I'm so happy rn THANKS
7:52 This method helped me, because i could hear myself through my headset microphone but the green bars didnt go up and down when i talked. Thank you so much!
ive got a Hyperx headset and none of these worked :( I can hear audio but my microphone just doesnt work, though you can hear a noise when you mute and unmute the mic, pls help
Thank you so much. I really don't use microphones I only play a bit offline not good at it , but man I really enjoy watching all your videos They are so helpful. Thanks again for all the time you put in to help the ones that dont know much..Have a great weekend my friend...
Thanks so much for checking the video out. I appreciate your support. It's always nice to read comment like yours. :) Hope you have a great weekend as well.
The one that worked for me was: Search- Control Panel (View by - Large/Small icon) Speech Recognition Set-up Microphone Headset Microphone Next (2Times) Repeat the text Done
Man I know you get a lot of comments like this but for real, massive thank you to you! Ive had this problem where audio would come in through my headset but my voice was being picked up by the built-in webcam mic (which is terrible) I never get the popup asking for headphones/headset, and it seems to have been on headphones by default. Turns out I could just open the advanced settings in the Realtek console and switch it to headset  Many hours I have spent trying to fix it, and your video finally did it. Thanks so much!
for those who dont get the pop up to identify the device type, go to realtek audio console and then advanced audio device then change the device type where it says front/back panel depending on where your mic is plugged in.
i just found out a way after searching for hours. Open windows and search for HD Audio Manager, then on the right part under the word 'Analog' click on the circle button and set it into 'headset'. My earphones mic can finally be used now. See if it works for u
Thank you so much. I was losing my mind after I just upgraded my laptop and tried to use my arctis 5 headphones on it. The headphones worked fine but the mic wouldn't pick up on anything, despite having worked more than alright on my last laptop. I knew there must be a setting but didn't know where to look. 7:43 in your video, where you said to look at properties of the mic, saved me from losing my sanity as I had googled tips and tricks, fixes and whatever else as well as doing some personal digging trying to figure out what was wrong. Sure enough, my computer had set my mic to mute by default, for whatever stupid reason lol. Thanks so much for your help, it's much appreciated!
Thanks so much I didn't even know there was a Realtek Audio Console. It defailted or somehow was set to "Generic" In the Environment window. I set it to and I was no longer in a reverb echo chamber. Thanks so much!
Hey dude, I tried everything and it still doesnt work. The mic seems to pick up sounds from the pc (like when i listen to yt it shows that i use my mic). Could you please tell me how to fix it?
Andres Laborde you have to buy a seperate mic 🎙 I’ve been rippin my hair out trying to figure out how to get it to work only to realize it is impossible to do with out extreme interference I just ordered mine from wish it’s gonna arrive on may 5th
@@gabpsy1683 im kinda stupid (Andres btw) i had the splitter and I had to really push it in there (3.5 mm into splitter), since it wasn't plugged in fully the mic wouldn't work, at a certain push i'd hear only from the left, a little harder, both sides, a little harder and it would go in all the way and the mic would work, i tried looking everywhere thinking it was a software issue but it wasn't
try looking for the realtek hd audio control console in your c drive/ program files/realtek/audio/hd and click the RAVcpl app it will open the hd audio console. and just make sure it is set correctly
My solution was going to the control panel > sound > click recordings > choose your mic device then advanced, and uncheck the enhancement box. Hope it helps.
The "Microphone" thing for the Sounds tab in the control panel shows my built in microphone, but it says its unplugged, and the microphone only picks up my friend's voices, my in-game sounds, and pc sounds but not my actual voice, regardless how loud I talk.
@@joshma2404 I found this out about my headset with disappointed me. If you are plugging in a headset with 3 rings (of any color) on the pin, it won't work, you will get only audio. Those type of pins are meant for some laptops and mobile devices. Check to see if you have the same pin.
this was along time ago but oh my gosh man, i searched endlessly on google and youtube to find the problem because my headset is plugged into to PC but the microphone isnt detected, the control panel part saved me man
