This was a great video, Kudos on the improvement over time. I did stumble on this back in October,a nd found some new insights. What do you think a new tech company and product would have to do to achieve Luxury status today?

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! It's a very interesting question, and I believe there was a moment when Apple could have become one of these companies. The main thing modern tech companies lack is the foundation to build a luxury brand upon - this foundation consists of a brand myth and brand heritage. They always try to be "better, faster, stronger", but don't usually pay attention to the ideological depth luxury brands have. What do you think? By the way, what's your experience/interest with luxury brands?

It's quiet unfair to compare a tech company to a desginer luxury brands. Tell which company is more luxury tech company than Apple and I'll wait.

You made a great point 👍🏻 In fact, it's quite an interesting discussion, whether tech companies can be luxury at all. And you are absolutely right, that luxury industry is much larger than just fashion, we must not forget luxury automobiles, haute cuisine, etc. What brand would you compare Apple with?

@@StolbovaBrand When it comes to automobile and tech industry, most companies that tend to preserve themselves as "Luxury" usually have an "accessible " lineup while having at the same time flagship products, to keep their status. Apple is the only one in its industry to sell an accessory that cost 800$ for a set of wheels that attaches in the computer's stand. I don't agree to what you said fhat Apple doesn't have a myth story of their own because they literally embrace and milk their own historing by storytelling the obsession of Steve Jobs to "Think Different" for years. They even made a building called " Steve Jobs theater" to keep the the storytelling every year that they hold an event. I agree with many of your points that they may not be as worthy as a luxury compare to Hermés or any other desginer brands but they sure have embraced some of the mentality while trying to keep a different take to stay relevant to the masses without ruining their reputation.

i consider apple a luxury brand just like miele or bmw. you pay a premium price for premium features that not everyone needs. luxury doesn’t mean only rich people can afford it, just means it’s not a commodity brand like huawei. think of chanel makeup or perfume, it’s accessible to a lot of people, but it’s still a luxury option. a tech company will by default be different than a clothing company or car manufacturer, but there can still be luxury element to it.

Many luxury clothing brands actually make a fortune on entry-level products like small leather goods, sunglasses, and accessories. And they outsource perfume and cosmetics to other companies, making crazy margins. As for Apple, they certainly have an element of luxury in their marketing tactics, and they also have the potential to reposition as a luxury brand. People in most countries gets it in EMI and Apple is smart enough not to break this bracket ... But form price point if view it is luxury

Can the competition provide me with an excellent camera, and the featuresof a smart-phone? Yes. Can I show off my social status of carrying around an Apple product if I go for the completion? No. Do I want to purchase a product that has significantly lower performance yet at the higher price point, compared to competition? Depends. Do Apple fans suffer from a snob effect? Yes. Do Apple fans understand the concept of Price-to-Performance? Most definitely not. Simple demand and supply. Basic economics.

Every single rich person I've met in my life uses Apple. Most of them take pride in not knowing how to use Google maps, or knowing their charger was different. Maybe Apple is not a luxury brand, but people consider them luxury simply because of the status it provides. It's not like rich people are buying expensive Android phones like the Galaxy Bespoke Fold 5. They simply buy iphone to feel special, even when it can do the same, and even less than than a $300 android
