Not entirely true, while it is easy to ship from abroad to Jamaica... clearing goods in Jamaica is a totally different ballgame of frustration and it is overly costly to the point of being robbed! Further, the process is whole day nightmare!
My sister and husband went back to Jamaica this year July 2023 from the UK and it was a nightmare for them, with things stolen from the barrels and damaged things in the container then to top it of all day back and forth to clear their stuff bearing in mind they were at the offices before they opened up and still had to wait until the next day to get their things delivered, they have advised me when I’m coming to NOT go through the long process but to buy furniture in Jamaica instead because the cost of shipping as well etc they reckoned that it would be cheaper. They said they were charged an arm and a 🦵
On top of all that hassle, you have to watch your things carefully because there are people there who will STEAL from your goods while they are unpacked for inspection. This is exacerbated by the fact that they often only allow ONE person to go in to collect the barrel. My husband went in by himself and came out with less than what was packed in the barrel. Pot lid, kitchen items, food, reusable shopping bags all missing because while he was occupied dealing with the customs personnel, some one went "shopping".
Why they keep stealing most of my stuff. I've decided against sending barrels after a lot of my stuff was stolen. Things I've sent for my elderly parents. Won't be sending another barrel. One year they basically stripped my barrel. I'm now wondering if they are targeting my barrels
I shipped with Dennis once from Florida because my sister made me do it. Worst experience ever. Never again! Even my sister stop shipping with Dennis. I am happy with my shipping company now. I shipped a recliner chair for my mom because It the time I I searched all over Jamaica and couldn't find any. They were all electric and my God, they put my husband through hell. They charged me pretty much the same money I paid for the chair. He is here promoting his company quite well but it's not as good as he's saying.
The reason why they harassed her about so many books is because they thought she was bringing them in to sell. I believe there is a way to get a declaration form before she brings in. They were doing their job. If someone arrived in the USA with that many books they would also be required to pay.
Dennis shipping UK, The worse, sent several barrels with them. My barrels are always stripped. Perfumes, perfume set, bath gels, sheet sets all stolen. They didn't even leave one. I don't know if the problem was with them or the wharves. I've had things stolen since I stopped using them. But my worse experience was with them. So I've decided never to ship anything else to Jamaica. Prefer to take extra suitcases and pay for them. Less hassle and my parents will get things I've sent them
There should be camera in the room where the barrel is being search. Sometime the items are missing be the red eye thieves searching the barrel I prefer the person present when searching.
Dennis Shipping gives good service. I've used them since he started his business and had no employees. He picked up in the USA and in Jamaica they deliver door to door. Everything was in the barrel when it arrived. I rate them a 10 out of 10.
Easy, yes, easy to have things go missing! I sent a parcel to me mom and they opened it and removed the perfume? Obviously there are no cameras 🎥 or reliable security. Never again!

When I travel to JA I do not pack any valuable and therefore I can leave blank, the section for things to declare. All my valuable are in my shipped items. Dennis said the same thing.
Misconception, England is not as cold as America America Russia and Canada are three of the coldest countries in the world. Florida is the south so that part is warmer. Also England barely gets snow we get it all the time an below zero weather north and midwestern states of America. England is much farther though that is true.
You go Dr. from the States. Speak your truth. Over 60 years ago we had a problem with freedom of speech, censorship of books, ignorance and prejudice towards books in our fair land. It is shocking to see we still have that problem.

Hello Throp sorry just catching up on this. It would be great if you could have a company who could give a view from shipping from the UK. As your guest said huge amounts of returning residents from the UK to Jamaica. It would be good to have the door to door issue covered as we have heard such horror stories of peoples goods going missing in transit! Regards
Totally agreed, we need him here too with honest clearing agent staff in Jamaica. Currently, the door to door service appears to be staffed by a bunch of dishonest people! I'll never do door to door again. I ended up with three almost empty barrels!

I wish he would elaborate about the charity and non profit aspect, for the shipping to schools. He wasnt very thorough about that part. We need to support him as well as know how to properly ship to school of our choice
What do you mean? Jamaica is a Democratic society it's not a dictatorship. Since when Jamaicans haven't lived freely? Only people in illegal activities have to look over their shoulders and that's anywhere people are not law abiding. That's self imposed restrictions due to activities and whom one associates with. If you're not in any illicit activities then you won't have any problem living freely in Jamaica.

I usually don’t send barrels often, but used Dennis the first time and everything went well, nothing missing. Because of the confidence of the first time, I did another shipment of 3 barrels; however, the second time I wasn’t so lucky, and unfortunately, several items were missing (lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, and hair). Don’t even know how the hair got missing because I purposely placed it almost in the bottom because I knew such items is high commodity. I have more barrels to ship because I do donations to a church and I will use Dennis shipping again because it’s most convenient. Hoping I will not encounter the same experience. I would still rate the company an 8/10. They should offer some sort of insurance to recoup losers.

We shipped things to Jamaica we paid lots of duty from the UK. Our goods was sliced up at customs, expensive mattress had car grease mark on it. A massive hole bored into it, so soiled we could not get the black grease off of our expensive king size mattress. Our wall unit was broken up and laminate sliced through. I spent 6 months in JA renovating a house for a client and shipped down 6 plastic barrels and a large flat screen tv. The barrels had lots of essential items such as utensils, tissues, toothpaste, shampoo, soaps and food items such a as rice, sugar, flour and lots of other stuff to survive for the entire period I was there. Economically it worked for me because the only thing I had to purchase was fresh meat and bread. The property provided ground provisions, fruits and vegetables. The plastic barrels was used for storage of water and goods..
I shipped somethings to my daughter's guardian in Jamaica while she was studying at High School. They were items that went missing. That was from England to Jamaica 🇯🇲. Very disappointed, never again!!
We have a process you cant just bring in items especially in large amounts. Please get approval first. Customs is easy to talk to just talk to them first they will not talk to you after.
