People grossly overestimate mankind. It's so easy to control and manipulate them. On a small or large scale. To a small or extreme extent. It happens in every country in the world. I live in one of the richest and most free countries, the United States, and it's still a major problem here. In the very recent past, and still today in many parts of the world, blasphemy, heresy and sorcery are common capital crimes.
From what I have noticed, people seem to be ok with authoritarianism as long as it fits their political views (left vs right), which as a libertarian I cannot understand. Tyranny, whether left wing or right wing is still tyranny, and tyrants of any political views will take a mile if given an inch, so nobody should ever accept even the slightest amount of sacrifice of freedom because it can and will turn into something much worse.
@@100percentSNAFU Look at us in the UK. We gave up our right to buy and own handguns in 1996 after the Dunblane Massacre. Now we can't even carry a knife or pepper spray for self defence.
@@curtisevans8413 I thought not even the cops carry guns in the UK. Some due and they yell out, “ARMED police.” Some liberals I know have a hard on for British and Australian gun laws. Ironic-both the British oppression of the colonists was put down by guns and Australia suffers from severe gun control-and was a 🇬🇧 colony. But hey-what you gave up in rights allowed for violent Muslims to move into your nation.
If human beings were such rational creatures, the concept of a "kingdom" would never have been established in human history. The majority of the masses only risk their lives to fight against tyrants when they are pushed to the brink of having nothing left to lose. The North Korean regime knows this, which is why they strengthen information control. From the perspective of the North Korean regime, it is advantageous for their power to make the North Korean people believe that South Korea is a more hellish place than North Korea. Additionally, the North Korean regime thoroughly controls not only information coming from abroad but also internal information. They prevent communication between different regions. For instance, even people who have defected from Pyongyang had no idea about the lives of those in Hamgyong or Pyongan provinces until they met other defectors in South Korea. In other words, North Korea is a giant prison in itself, but within this giant prison, small, compartmentalized prisons are formed in a fractal-like structure. Thus, people cannot exchange opinions or unite with each other. For these reasons, many coups have occurred in North Korea, but they all ended as small-scale coups and were quickly suppressed.
@@JaniceWithTheTarlovCystdo you really believe that? 😂 I’m not saying kids aren’t being sent to labor. I would say about at early teenage age not at 2yo lol 😂
@@denny3088 I was watching the video and got really locked into the geography and dangers they faced trying to leave North Korea and escape to the south, Japan and even China. So I was surprised when Canada came up as an option. Even the embassy in China. Who would have thought to seek out Canada's help in that part of the world if you don't have any connection to the country?
If they were so confident in the righteousness of their sociopolitical philosophy, there would be no need for such imprisonment, and those citizens would be free to move about internationally with no surveillance.
They are staving there own citizens... What difference would it make if they went to China? Btw there's the world's tallest hotel in north Korea.. guess how many people have check in?... zero!
Because if they know they will be executed if they do so, they won't flee. Poor people is a benefit for rich people, since they will work for almost nothing. That's why billionaires want more people, not less.
As far as I know, China has an agreement with the DPRK to extradite all escapees. Not safe to escape to China unless you can get to an embassy of a sympathetic country.
@@100percentSNAFUThat's correct.China is still China. What kind of a country would return those who crossed....knowing they will face execution. A truly evil one.
I would imagine because we don't want to start world war 3. If we did something, no doubt China would get involved. Of course that didn't stop us from intervening in the war between Ukraine and Russia, and we are lucky that didn't turn into world war 3...yet.

@@tomneff7030 And we can know that this simply hasn't been the case for thousands of veterans who have received inadequate care, denied care or compensation for their illnesses. An issue that has spanned multiple administrations of both Democrats and Republicans. You're a marine you say?

@@100percentSNAFU To be fair sometimes the west warms up to dictators with horrible human rights records. Just as long as they don't threaten their borders they'll make nice and trade with them. We're pretty inconsistent in terms of our support for human rights, democracy and our relationships with dictators.
