Lots of fans in Japan felt like he knocked some fighting mentality that Yokohama has been missing for a long time when he was yelling his teammates to wake up. Top of the rotation guy from MLB screaming at them shows how he knows that they could do better on the field, and gave some hope to the fans that this year they might finally wake up and go grab that championship..... which hasn't been exactly the case, but yeah a little context for you lol

In the NPB, a developmental player is a player who is not on the roster of the first team and cannot play in official games. In high school, he never caught the attention of scouts. A sports store owner who knew a lot about baseball contacted a scout he knew at Softbank, saying he had found a gem, and hired Senga as a developmental player without much expectation. If the sports store owner had not noticed his talent, he might have led a completely different life.

I was at that game in Yokohama. I’ve been a life long fan of the Baystars but that defense has to be the worst play I’ve seen during the past 9 years (there was one even worse in 2014). Personally, I don’t blame his outburst at all, and I believe the majority of Yokohama fans felt the same. These things happen.

No team will sign him. They're too worried about the "MeToo" crowd protesting. All the GMs and players are chicken shit scumbags. Because none of them will stand up for Trevor or sign him. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball and can definitely help a team win. But these clowns are too worried about "optics." And that woman should be locked up for 10 yrs. She targeted him, lied about him, dragged his name through the mud, and tried to take his money. No accountability for women like this in society or under the law. It's sickening.

Bauer actually proved his innocence in court which is unheard of. No one usually gets the chance to prove innocence in cases like this, they usually settle to remove the risk of losing in court because of lying. Bauer's attacker made the mistake of asking for a restraining order, giving bauer the opportunity to prove she is lying. Bauer WON. Fighting a restraining order is extremely hard because judges error on the side of allowing them. Bauer proved his innocence to such a degree, the judge called out his attacker for lying and ruled against the restraining order. The suspension by the MLB was just long enough so the dodgers did not have to pay bauer, proving he was suspended because the team just wanted to weasel out of his contract after the team smeared him by bolstering the lie from bauer's attacker. Players should be extremely pissed about this, bauer's entire contract was essentially canceled by a false accusation bolstered by the team that could benefit by not paying bauer. This is a new way teams can turn guaranteed money to non-guaranteed money. A big ramification is that players must stick to long term contracts that are too long for a suspension to cancel to reduce the incentive for teams to suspend players to avoid paying or rostering them. Bauer was an advocate of short term contracts which benefits the above average players.

It actually came out later through one of the accuser’s friends showing texts between her and the accuser where the accuser was saying she was going to “get him” and things along those lines making their night together seem more sinister from her side. Honestly it’s messed up for both buaer and women. Buaer likely will not pitch in the mlb again and now when women who are actually assaulted speak up it’s going to be taken with a grain of salt. So shame on that girl (who operantly was hooking up with tatis and was a padres fan and cheerleader)

I mean, he had a significant amount of downtime leading up to moving to another country where he doesn't fluently speak the language and is playing in a league that has a number of differences in rules and traditions, let alone the cultural differences with the audience. It take some time to adjust to that sort of thing and he seems to making major progress so far towards being comfortable and effective. Hes not instantly the best pitcher Japan has ever seen, but hes doing fine as far as i can tell.

I'm a Blue jays fan, and that stat line reminds me of Yusei Kikuchi! This season, Yusei is 7-3 with a 4.13 era but also with the most allowed home runs in the American League. I love both players, and I'm glad that for his first season Bauer has been doing pretty well all things considered

I honestly kinda miss watching his vlogs. It was great insight into the MLB and the daily life of a starting pitcher. I never really liked the guy, but it was worth watching. But now I can only look back on it as narcissistic vanity. There's a reason why nobody else does stuff like that. You are literally in _the show_ and you have millions of dollars. Why do you feel the need to do this when literally everyone else just wants some alone time in between games? It was never about the insight, it was always about the spotlight. Good riddance I say.

I mean, Japan is supporting him because he’s by far the best player to come to Japan from the MLB ever. The team that has signed him and the whole league is making a lot off of him going to Japan and the change in country allows them to leave most of his controversies in the past. The Japanese people have little to no knowledge of his history and his sexual misconduct issues and are quicker to overlook than the US fans. The same would be true of course if the situations were reversed. At the end of the day, it’s all money. Edit: Not sure if there is a language barrier here, but one does not need to be convicted of a crime in criminal court in order for any one individual to dislike or disagree with the actions of another. I do not care if Bauer is brought to criminal court over these specific cases. My coworker never went to court for groping a female worker last year, but he damn sure did it and he was absolutely fired for it. Not facing criminal charges is not a defense to say someone didn’t do something or that we, as people, can’t hold opinions that may even disagree with a verdict (think OJ). Remember, the court lets far more guilty people walk then innocent people jailed (think type 1 vs type 2 error for those who know). Bauer has been problematic for a long time now and this is just one more thing in a long series of him being a total ass. His teammates have always hated him and he’s only brought negative publicity with hime wherever he’s gone. There’s not some big conspiracy, people in the US are simply done with his diva bullshit.

He was the most interesting player in MLB for all he's done to innovate training and in social media, and really the only player with an actual personality to speak of. He was the only MLB player with a personality. Also an important innovator in baseball and off the field. All thrown out because he called out corruption and some random prostitute tried to defame him. Baseball has always been full of egos and dumb rules, which is why he had such a hard time before turning pro. MLB/conformist fans think players throwing bats, making teams as foreign as possible, and having Pride Night is revolutionary but in reality Bauer was revolutionary within the game with mechanics and antics, and also off the field with his youtubing.

Do you know why Japan loves him? Because he's an American baseball player playing there in Japan. The fandom weebs here in the states have for anime and disconnect from actual Japan culture is the exact same fascination Japanese baseball fans have for literally any American who played in the big leagues playing over there. They don't care about the allegations, because beating women and children behind closed doors is still acceptable in that society.

All these coaches and trainers hated him for ignoring their training suggestions and sticking with his own training routine that helped him go pro. From the beginning he had been stuck with the reputation of being "uncoachable" and a "diva." He also got into a ton of trouble for calling out all the pitchers who keep using illegal substances in 2018. Hes right though, as the only way for any pitcher to increase their fastball's spin rate is with foreign substances, specifically pine tar. So it was the combination of pissing off coaches and catchers with his training routine, and the MLB commissioners office on his Twitter crusade against pitchers using foreign substances, that when the bs sexual assault charges came along, they suspended him. Even after they were all dropped, the League still banned him for so many games. They just wanted to send a message to the other players what they would do to them if they ever tried to show them up. Its sad though that the players union didnt stick up for Trevor Bauer.

Truthfully, he's just a big nerd. That grates on some athletes here in the US. In Japan, it's just normal. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody showed interest in Bauer because he wanted to play in Japan, and Chalupa (Rachel Lupa, his manager) poisoned it by asking for more than the league minimum. If he does stay over there and lives happy, more power to him.

As a Yank living in Japan who wants to go watch and appreciate his play, I hope he stays here, too. I know I only planned to stay for a few years but it's been almost 20 now. Japan's much saner and kinder than the U.S. is now.
