I had a set of headers Jet Hot coated for my '69 Eliminator back in the early nineties. They still look great. It's nice to find a product that actually lives up to its claims. BTW, I'm a hardcore Ford guy, but I LOVE that black '67 GTO.
Jet Hot Coating is a great product but the Infrared image used in the video may be a little misleading if you don’t understand how the technology works. The finished jet hot coating surface has a high emissivity, meaning the surface will reflect background temperature and temperatures of adjacent objects. So in a relatively cool room the surface of the coated headers will appear to be cool even though they are very hot. Near the end of the dyno pull some heat could be seen building near the collector of the coated header. This is referred to as a cavity effect. The coating is reflecting the temps of the hot tubes off one another in a tight space. We use the cavity effect in the field when looking for elevated temps in high voltage electrical gear that has shiny copper and aluminum buss bars. The emissivity of a surface can be accounted for in the camera as well as background temps to create a more realistic image. For something like this I would like to see a thermocouple measured the contact temp and then compared to temps in the IR image. Since the coating is on the inside of the tube I have no doubt the exterior tube temp will be cooler than an uncoated header. IR image isn’t the best way to measure the delta-T between the coated and uncoated...just saying🤷🏼♂️
You get paid or free service from Jet-Hot? Stay in your lane if either of those is yes! Terrible "coatings" worse "customer service" and even worse "warranty" coverage! Paunt your headers or wrap them and you'll save a ton and only have you to blame if things don't work out. If you want to be upcharged when they have your parts and then upsold when you need "warranty" serive then Jet-Hot is your company to use. Oh, or if you have enough followers to get things done free with a positive "review" and no complaints going forward...
We've had the jet hot coating on our manifolds for several years now with zero problems. I like the product therefore I talk about it. It doesn't mean that we don't talk about problems when there are problems with a product even if we like it. We've done that tons of times with our sponsor National Parts Depot. You obviously have had an issue with jet hot Coatings so that's you. My experience was completely different.
