The Commanders interviewed him at the combine and were very impressed; he was developed by a top NFL coach in a pro style offense which means he is the most NFL ready. A lot of these kids never take a snap under center etc... JJ makes ridiculous off platform throws on the move. He looks like a young Mahomes out there. His arm strength is excellent. I watched him drop dimes at 60 yds in the air with hardly any effort. His footwork is almost flawless. If he beefs up some and refines his technique, he can be a top 5 QB at the next level...
I’ve watched Michigan football for 50 years and I agree with Harbaugh and Tom Brady when they say he was the best quarterback to ever play at Michigan. He’s only 20 and still has room to grow.
Indeed I've been watching Michigan football for the same time, and I agree also. He's Tom Brady with more athleticism. The smart organizations who need a qb (and there aren't many) want him to fall into their lap.
I think that it's assumed that McCarthy is still filling out and will put on an extra 10-20 pounds Naturally over the next year or two. It's easy to forget that he's still a kid and is 2-3 years younger than many of the other QB prospects in this draft.
I think in the right hands he can be. His biggest concern is his lack of sample size, but he shows potential under the right offense and coaching staff.
He most definitely is. He’s going to be the biggest steal of the draft for someone. He has a cannon. He can read defenses. He has enough wheels to be dangerous. He’s very accurate. If Michigan passed more, you’d see his numbers right there at the top of almost every category.
