Some thoughts on the video. This video took a very long time to make. The research and script were almost completed in 2023. But if we are saying we need a metro or a reliable public transportation system in Kathmandu, what better way than to show the actual traffic jam, hence the idea of being behind the scooter and recording. We have always recorded our videos inside our office, so going out would be challenging. The Camera team did such fabulous work. You might have also noticed the difference in audio at times. It was our biggest issue, which at one point was almost unusable, so we had to do a lot of post-processing on it. i totally agree with BRT system because the metro is not possible as geographical structure of kathmandu is not good , likewise it is cost effective for poor country like nepal as economy is very challenging...

Metro rail in Kathmandu isn't worth it. This city is beyond repair. We should focus on making cities like Hetauda, Narayangadh, Butwal, and Birtamod better connected to the capital. An East-West Railway would be a dream!

Rather than having a costly trnasport for a developing country like Nepal, its better we invest in bus traportation. Like Dubai, Delhi, London buses must have a wider area coverage, time punctuality and more consistent fares. Taxis and ridesharing is economical but having to pay for it everyday is definitely impossible for the middle class (which make the most of Kathmandu)

Kathmandu is a vast plain area with badly managed roads and a city plan. We, Bhutan, have Thimphu as our capital, which is hilly, but if we had a capital like Ktm, we would have made it a beautiful metropolis already. Just wait and watch how we build a new city in the south, which has plains. Then you can learn from us.
Great Content. Underground Metro is not suitable because of kathmandu geology of alluvial soil to a greater depth. However, construction of Tram-Train/ Light rail would be an ideal option. It can be operated on a concrete reinforced slab with rail track.
The financial aspects needed to build a metro in Kathmandu cannot be recovered by using it in office hour or business hour. The overall population of Kathmandu is about 17 Lakhs. If we add Migrants total that visit Kathmandu on daily basis it could come out to be around 25 to 30 Lakhs (max.) So the probability of using Metro on daily basis by every population can't be 100 percent. The house wives, school going kids, the unemployed population don't use Metro on a daily basis. On the top of that the travel cost for Metro can't be so less that the investment of building a Metro is not recovered. So, looking from all the practical aspects, although we need a Metro it can't be possible in the ancient city like Kathmandu where urbanization has taken place without a plan or like an accident. We live in a city where a Ring Road expansion hasn't been possible from last 10 years in the remaining areas or ring road. So, We can dream about building a Metro here but we can't actually make it possible to happen here. But PODWAY could prove to be handy and financially viable than building a Metro here.

13:55 BRT Is still in operation from Suryabinayak to Ratna Park and back to suryabinayak. Information below is based on my observation during my travel. It operates from 8 am to 11 am I guess in the morning and 3:30 to 5:30 pm evening. Representative from dotm hands a token number to respective bus from Suryabinayak and Ratnapark (infront of Bir Hospital).This service is called Valley Express Bus Service (उपत्यका दुर्त बस सेवा) .
Why is nobody talking about the possibility of WATERWAYS? We can use our rivers for transportation in the valley . There is a requirement of such study for a better alternative which is feasible and financially viable.

With limited budget, the available space and structure of kathmandu this is far far away from reality. Around 23 kharba total loan, don't think we should invest in such huge project , jasko lagi maybe mahangar ko kati barsa ko budget lagcha. Balen during his election campaign too said metro in kathmandu is far away from reality and pointed how earlier mayor made us fool giving the hope of running metro inside kathmandu. So, atleast with Balen as mayor this idea will only be in youtube!

The traffic congestion problem can be solved by improving current bus transportation system, BRT is a good initiative which can deliver in an cost-effective manner. Metro/mono rail are simply not sustainable economically for this country, not yet.
Private firms like pathao, tootle and indriver are short term solutions that will only increase the traffic pollution. If you want to control and manage traffic these firms need to be properly monitored.

I don't know why i ended up here, but metros are quite loss making entities. I'm from Lucknow and i never seen Lucknow metro being utilised to its potential, the fare price is not competitive to the alternatives. Government would need to keep the ticket price low to attract people
No way railway in kathmandu valley, it would be waste of time, money and resources. We need to focus on decentralization, and generate more jobs outside of kathmandu valley. Centralization is a big damn challenge. For current situation, check on vehicles, and banning of old , limiting the number of vehicles, promoting electric,..can be temporary solution.
