Khalil turned himself in for the drug test. He wasn’t “caught.” Also I don’t really care to see Magomed vs Alex just because he himself said he will only strike with Alex and everyone knows how that will go

I'm actually a little disappointed. I think stylistically, Khalil is actually a great match for Alex. I just don't know if he's ready and he definitely does not deserve it yet. They should have him fight Jamhal hill first to prove that he is actually good enough.
Belal dominated everyone for like 2 years straight and was on a 10 fight win streak against contenders. Khalil got chinned by walker and cutelaba and outclassed by jacoby and never rocked him. Jacoby is chinny af.
Alex gonna show his defensive prowess once again in this fight. People forget how good of a counter striker Pereira is. Dude will destroy both going forward and on a back foot.
Khalil is 9/10 times getting finished in round 1-2. There's a ~1/10 chance he might land a lucky KO like he did on Saki but we're talking a puncher's chance and not worth considering as the likely outcome. The fight is only happening as a layup to keep Pereira busy with an easy title defense, they were hoping Izzy beat Dricus so they could book a final rematch between them at LHW later.
People seem to not to realize that the reason that Ankalaev isn’t getting a title shot bc he only wants to fight in Abu Dhabi, if he took his ass to Utah, he would have gotten the shot, the only reason Alex is fighting is to save 307, if he can’t agree on that date then he’s not getting that fight, it’s that simple, he’s not the champ so who is he to decide on where the champ fights
Alex could also keep his hands low to deliberately draw punches to the head, so he can counter them. certain boxers like george foreman used a long extended guard so they can use "wrestling" and pull down or pin his opponents guard, frame off their head or pull their head into punches. Its why he beat frazier, his low exaggerated head movement was perfect for foreman to frame off of him and use these tactics. Alex obviously doesnt do this anywhere near to the extent of foreman, but i have seen him pull down guards and other things in some of his kickboxing matches.

Khalil self reported himself for PEDs because of a supplement he took. The lab bought a fresh sample of the same stuff, and found the substance in it. He still had to sit out for a few months because of it. I think it's the best match up for Alex. Khalil is insanely fast and is a counter fighter. He won he last five in a row very dominantly. There's the pre muay Thai khalil, and the after muay Thai Khalil. He still uses the Thai high guard, it just depends on his openent. I think we'll see a pure Thai stance against Alex. This is going to be a barn burner. I doubt there will be a single takedown attempt from either. Khalil has NEVER shot a takedown. Not once... I think he's a much bigger problem for Alex than people realize. You ever thought he can't get a visa to fight anywhere but the middle east or Russia? Kind of looking like it.

Magomed turned down the opportunity at both UFC 300 and 303, as well as suggesting that Alex should fight him in home turf in October in Abu Dabi, he'll get his chance but if you can't answer the call then you're going to have to wait.

Khalil got a punchers chance thats it. Pereira has the best low kick defense and offense in the ufc and hes become a high level counter striker at lhw. Khalils boxing is very wild and he doesn't have the same power as a lot of his last opponents
Rountree is the one guy who you’ll see utilizing kicks to the body of a grounded opponent. It’s devastating, if he knocks Alex down I think Khalil is going to finish him. His style destroys strikers
Alex doesn't actually have a clear weakness to straight shots. Sure he can be hit but even we see as he closes on Jamal he gets his head off the center line, same with Jiri many times "slip uppercut backhand" he was doing a lot of that very well especially in the rematch, or we watch his later sparrings with Alex and the boxer or Sean ect. He is getting better, we can't judge him now just becouse in 2022 Izzy hurt him and landed multiple straight rights in the second fight that was a hook close and simply he didn't care about defence so that example for me doesn't tell much. But still if we judge him based on his performance at 281 where he also got outgrappled by Izzy well he also shouldn't have been able to stop takedowns against Jiri and Jan and surviving getting up ect. It's simply famous that Izzy hurt him with right hands multiple tines so now everyone acts like just spam the right hand on him and it will work. It's like saying "just throw left hooks on Izzy couse that worked for Alex in every single fight pretty consistantly" But yeah the blackboy with that stance on paper should be able to check things and stuff. But it's just that if you really need 3 fucking rounds to find a KO blow on Smith you can't even tickle Alex's stone balls

Finally some Muay Thai vs Kickboxing striking. Low kicks originated from Muay Thai history anyways. Will be a fun match. I haven't seen Alex train Muay Thai style before even though he went to Thailand.
Alex has elite clinch striking and knees , hes the best at checking kicks in the high weight classes and hes got the hardest kicks to defend against. Also jan was a muay thai fighter thats way better than khalil at everything and he had nothing in terms of low kicks for alex. Alex while being a kickboxer has everything a muay thai fighter has
