@@FormulaProg Then why are certain teams always so much better than others? The setup/mechanics teams make the biggest difference between teams by far. And then there are the other aspects such as operational rigidity and strategy. There are excuses, even though the driver does make the biggest difference by far in this series.

Gotta be honest here Josh: I like Kimi. I’ve met and interviewed him a couple of times and he’s been nothing but a great guy. He is also a massive talent on the track. But please: don’t go around comparing him to legends of the sport like Ascari and Hamilton - he’s got very thick skin, sure, but this is not at all helpful. You’re helping to build up a mountain of expectations that can prove disastrous for such a young person (he is still 17).

Qualifying ahead of Bearman who is more experienced and is a multi-time pole sitter and race winner in F2 is a good sign. P18-19 on the other hand doesn't bode well for Prema at all.

haha nothing new just couch experts again hyping up a young driver, because they won a few races/championships, then crapping on them when they didn't score 150 points in their first season in F1 in a shitbox, and will tell that their junior career was never any good. previous examples: De Vries, Herta, Mick Schumacher, Giovinazzi, Vandoorne, Liuzzi, Bourdais, De Grassi, Piquet Jr., Gutierrez, Nasr, Buemi, Bruno Senna, Vergne, Hartley.

I would also love to see Kimi win with Ferrari, but I don't think Merc would let him go so easily like they did with Max, that's why they're backing him so strongly. Kimi might have been a factor for Merc management being so hesitant with giving Lewis a two year deal, but that's just speculation. Either way, F2 will be really good practice for him if anything and I wish him all the best.

Alright he was P18 today but in fairness, he was ahead of Bearman and unless the last two years of F2/3 has been super bad, Bearman is definitely a top competitor. Also note that Martins wasn't at the front as expected, and while fair play to Maini, deserves full credit, i highly doubt this quali session was representative

Considering he skipped F3 and went straight to F2 his present form - with Prema being in a difficult spot no less - has been impressive. Everybody else ahead of him in the standings have 2-3 years of combined F3/F2 experience. You're ultimately compared to your own team mate as a racing driver, and how well is Bearman doing with Prema? Bearman has a full year of F2 experience from 2023 and a year in F3 in 2022.

Everywhere he’s been he has won in his first season, and I think this season, given the current form of everyone in the grid, he could do it as well. Really special. It has been way too much time since an Italian was up there with the very best, I hope the time has come for us as well.

Maybe too optimistic, but hypothetically speaking IF Kimi were to place either I think 1st or even maybe 2nd in his first year of F2 I think it would raise some extremely pressing questions for Mercedes and their lineup for ‘25
