Correction on Rigid’s lifetime battery warranty. The lifetime battery warranty only applies to those batteries purchased WITH a tool, and they must be registered upon purchase. Additional batteries are not covered by the lifetime warranty.

Yes I never just buy a battery I bought my 1/2 impact and belt sander and Router with the tool a battery and charger for $129 for Router $149 for 1/2 impact and belt sander they are all registered they also sell a kit with 2 2AH and 2 4AH batteries and dual charger for $229 and also a 9AH with charger for $199 all with lifetime service agreement just have to be smart about your battery purchases I have 5 batteries with warranty 3 4AH and 2 2AH I really want the 9AH battery to my belt sander and orbital sander.

*Awesome impact **MyBest.Tools** Takes tires off in a second. Plenty of power for what I’ve used it for - rotating tires. Using it on 3rd setting for removal and 2nd setting for tightening lugs.*

Kobalt Tools One bit of constructive criticism I could currently give is that it’s very frustrating to me that currently the bare tool 1/2” impact wrench is completely unavailable. I can’t give you the model # because it’s been removed from lowes.com. Anyways it’s the heavy duty one with 650 fpt. Not the smaller one with 200 fpt. I’ve been wanting one to review and can’t get one... also don’t really need/want more bags/batteries/chargers or want to pay for the package deals. 😊

You are welcome. I'd be interested in reviewing this tool, or any others, if you'd like to contact me directly fletchofoth (at) gmail (dot) com. The new 6.0 amp battery or the 7 1/4" compound miter chop saw or looking appetizing as well. :-)

Kobalt Tools I'll do an honest review if you would like to send me the tools. I'm 63 years old and retired DIYer, so I have plenty of time to dedicate to helping you. In turn you can help me,because of being on a fixed income I can't afford the big combo kits. Win/ Win. Let me know Gentlemen. I can say. Without hesitation I absolutely love my compound miter saw. It helped me build a number of projects, highlighted by our front deck and a chicken coop. I can give you my contact info upon request. Thank you so much. Last but not least, GR8 VIDEO

Any chance Kobalt will come out with a battery powered finish or brad nailer? I'm on the platform, but hate to add another platform to the mix. Also, will Kobalt continue to be offered long term at Lowes. I'm worried about the Craftsman line now being offered. Hopefully Kobalt won't be discontinued.

As a HVAC Installer, I did my research on power tools and saw that Kobalt had a good affordable line with powerful tools. I have built my collection around these and my job is made easy with these tools. Plus hand tools and other. I have always liked Kobalt but never made the jump to power tools until I started my career. Great Brand, fair price. Great Choice.

I love Kobalt brand myself... I owned a few of them. At one time I thought craftsman was the thing until I really looked into the power of the impacts drive. Sold and trade it in at Lowe's for the Kobalt brand. Like you said it's a store brand but holds and power as big box stores. I have an 24v 5amp battery for my 1/2 impact 650lbs and using the 4amp for the 3/8 impact. Why I love it a lot is because some name brand don't have the 3/8 impact drive but Kobalt has it and cheaper to buy and works just the same or even better

Love these tools! They're made by Chevron, the parent company of both the SKIL (amazing durability for the price) and SKILSAW (unmatched quality) brands. I'm a Metabo HPT (formerly Hitach) guy but I have tools from every company out there. Some of these Kobalts are definitely every bit as good as their Dewalt and Metabo HPT counterparts. I'd take them over Ridgid any day.

I am blown away by Kobalt's 80v cordless chainsaw! cuts almost as good as a gas saw but it is so quiet, you don't have to wear muffs and you have so much better situational awareness without the loud gas motor. Batteries charge up in 20 mins so i have one on standby charging in my shed and hot swap when i need to and i can cut all day with it.

How often do you have to change batteries? Seems with my gas Ryobi I have to stop every 15 minutes for gas and b&c oil so even if the cordless did 7½ minutes I'd be impressed.

This video was part of my decision to start my power tool collection with Kobalt. They seem to really be a quality brand these days even if they aren't priced like it. I get some chuckles from other workers on the job, but less than when I was using my boss's dinosauric 18V DeWalt stuff.

I have the Kobalt lawn mower that takes 2x 24v 4.0Ah batteries. I find it amazing that I can use the same batteries to do literally everything a powertool can do. I even charge them off solar power, so I can cut my lawn with the same sun power that grows it. Higher voltage means no torque sag in anything, and lesser heat and wear on the batteries.

I once had few Kobalt 24V tools, and I think they are good. But for those who might think to buy this line, here is one advice. Do NOT buy the drill and the impact driver separately. Buy the combo kit. Combo kit price is not bad. But they are not available as bare tools, so the only option to buy the other is as a kit and those kit prices are not cheap. At the end, buying two separate kits will cost about $100 more than the combo kit with additional 2Ah battery.
@FletchDoesIt
@FletchDoesIt 6 лет назад
Kyong Song Yes, this is pretty much true for all manufacturers. The big 6+ piece kits are also almost always the cheapest way to go.

No one is saying the aren't available as bare tools. Simply stating the fact that, generally speaking, buying your tools in multi-tool kit is almost always the cheapest way to go... especially if said kit is on sale.

My sister just got into the kobalt line. Initially, I was somewhat disappointed. I am a ridgid user. But, after seeing more and more videos on the kobalt line, I am somewhat happy for her. I will say though, as far as rigid is concerned, if you walk into a store and try to warranty it out, and they simply do an over-the-counter replacement, which they should not do, you have just lost your warranty, your lifetime warranty on that battery. You need to contact ridgid and find an authorized repair center for it to be determined that indeed the battery and or tool is bad.

I wish I had a Lowe’s closer to me but they’re all pretty far away. Especially when I literally have a Home Depot less then 10 min away. I’ve heard good things about kobalt. Didn’t know the batteries were that cheap. A lot of the reviewers that get kobalt tools are pretty happy with them. I ended up buying Ryobi tools over 12 years ago and they’ve been great for me. I recently upgraded from my old blue tools to the new brushless stuff and it’s a huge jump in power and run time and quality. What I really like about Ryobi is they’re committed to the stem style battery. And haven’t changed it. And the price of the tools. They’re a fantastic value. Batteries are reasonably priced. Especially if you catch a sale. I used to be a ridgid fan before getting my Ryobi stuff. I had used some ridgid cordless power tools. I really liked them. So I bought some corded stuff. Then had issues with getting it warranted and decided the lifetime service agreement wasn’t worth it if the company won’t stand behind it.

Milwaukee managed to patent the 18v system in a way that anyone with an 18V system has to pay them a royalty. So glad Kobalt is 24V Max (22v under load) Price comparison as of Sep 2020. (standard price, not sales prices) A 2 Ah 24v Kobalt battery is $29. A Dewalt 20V Max (18v) 2Ah battery is $75 ($150 for a pack of 2) A Milwuakee 18v 2.0 Ah battery is $59 A Makita 18V 2 Ah battery is $79 A Metabo / Hitachi 18v 2 Ah battery is $89 A Craftsman or Bosch 18v 2.0 Ah battery is $49

I have the 1/4 impact, the triple drill, the circ saw, the oscillating saw or multitool, two 4Ah batteries, a 2Ah battery, and 2 of the cheaper chargers. Using combos and deals I accumulated all of this for $330. That's Ryobi-like pricing or better, which is insane considering how the tools are.

Milwaukee and DeWALT use Samsung 18650s. Kobalt uses lower quality LG 18650s. That's why their battery packs are cheaper. Also, as you mentioned, anything goes wrong; just take the tool back to Lowe's. Have read numerous reports of Kobalt tools that simply quit working out of nowhere. Okay, normally not an issue. But one acquaintance bought two Kobalt tire inflators. Put them in each car. Year later, he went to check on them. Both didn't work. Thinking it was their batteries, he grabbed another battery that was fully charged. Still nothing. Imagine getting a flat tire, pulling out one of those Kobalt inflators.... and you get nothing. Hopefully you're not on some isolated back country road. A great warranty isn't always so great.

Is it worth to get a combo kit or buy them all separate but not as a bare tool? I am highly considering these over the other 3 I had in mind of craftsman, porter cable, and rigid. I would like to have a circular saw, jigsaw, and sander. I have seen unfortunately Kobalt doesn’t have a kit with all my needs. So that is why I ask for your opinion is it work cost wise to buy separate or together?
@FletchDoesIt
@FletchDoesIt 4 года назад
Definitely cheaper to get a kit when there’s a sale going to get the basics... then watch for your individual needs outside that to go on sale.

I just got the Kobalt 24v Gen 2 leaf blower, I was surprised how good it is compared to my plug in Toro. 24v is a good system for larger powerful tools having that extra cell compared to other tool company batteries. I was going to get an EGO Power 56v blower but watched a video that the Kobalt was nearly as powerful at close to half the price and both brands are made by Chevron China LTD anyway, so likely sharing the same quality and some parts.

Yeah I came to much the same conclusion you did but I ended up with the green tools from home depot. Pretty much the same deal. Great batteries. Great brush-less motors. The full sized impact wrench puts out 700 pounds of torque. Tire rotation is now quick and effortless. The green tools now have an option of 6AH batteries that are two for 120 or 60 each. I really like rechargeable tools They go where I go and generally when I am out around the farm I don't have power unless I want to drag out the generator etc...

Do you think Lowes will now use Craftsman as their main product and quickly push out Kobalt? I love my Kobalt tools but if they're going to become obsolete then why keep buying them?

John W Ah... I hear ya. Although Kobalt’s power tools and hand tools aren’t made by the same company either though. Much like throughout Craftsman’s history, they never made their own tools and it varied but what type of tool who made it for them. Personally, I can’t see Lowe’s ditching their brand; Kobalt.

I have no issues with Kobalt cordless tools but went with Ridgid for the lifetime service agreement to get the service agreement set up you have to register your tools sometimes they have trouble verifying the tools and send email saying you need to mail receipt all I did is call them and while on the phone email a screenshot of my online order receipt had it registered in 5 minutes you don't bring your tools to home Depot take them to a certified Ridgid repair center there are several near me. The lifetime warranty is for the life of the tool not the life of the person purchasing the tool I'm just a DIY guy so my tools should be under warranty the rest of my life seeing I'm over 50 years old and don't put that much wear and tear on my tools but If I used my tools on a daily basis I would probably go with Milwaukee. I think the Ridgid warranty is designed for DIY person because if you run your tools every day Ridgid will probably determine that you got your life out of them in 5 or so years it's all about each person's individual needs what works for one may not work for all I would just hate to buy a tool use it very little then go to use it one day it doesn't work and is past the warranty period with the batteries it's not very long 1 to maybe 3 years Ridgid covers batteries also.

The electronics inside the battery is actually a good thing. It ensures that each cell is not overcharged or over-drained which will permanently damage the battery and also prevent from it bursting into flames. People need to keep in mind that Lithium ion batteries need to be charged at least once every 3 months while in storage. I tend to forget stuff like this and my batteries end up dead or damaged.
