The more I learn about the New Deal, the more I hate it. And I already hated it.

Reminds me of the same policy in USSR around the same era to grow and spread Heracleum plants… But it’s not only a highly resistant weed, ever spreading, but super dangerous too - the burns from its acid are legendary, and can be compared to the Xenomorph’s blood.

I had it in central Missouri. Looked a little different. I traced it back to its roots in the fall cut it off at the ground pulled the vines in late winter then watched for it to reappear in the spring and kept it trimmed at the ground. The vines made nice country wreaths. I was told that kudzu was from Europe brought in by settlers to use as fast growing fodder for livestock and its many uses for the fibrous vines.

T.S. wisdom can explain just about everything this government messes up. I used to work closely with three Mohawk governments. Before pulling the trigger on big decisions they discuss what the impact will be on their community seven generations down the road. It's impossible to really know but at least they discuss it.

As Milton Friedman once said " If the government was in charge of the Saharah desert, in 5 years we would have a sand shortage." Never underestimate how much well meaning government bureaucrats can truly turn something into a catastrophe.

This is a good illustration for what sin is: looking for short term solutions without thinking about long term consequences. Forcing things without thinking about the intricate multiple connections within the system that God has created. But it's not only politicians that make such decisions, but husbands, wives, elders, teachers, pupils, etc. That's who we are as humans.

Kudzu destroyed my childhood woods. I hate it. Also snakes love it. Found that out the hard way.

Animals can be really effective at weed control. And they are nutritious. It’s a win-win.

My Grandmother had it coming into her back yard back in the mid 90's. She asked all us boys to help build her a hog wire fence around it all the way to her property line. We built it and she bought 2 nanny goats and put them in there. In the first 6 months she had no kudzu left. She sold the goats back to the neighbor she bought them from and about every other year she would do the same thing when the kudzu started coming back. She couldn't kill the stuff on the land not hers, but she managed her piece pretty well.

Forage and forb eating animals have to be trained to eat the darn stuff because they apparently do not consider it to be palatable. Just because an animal can eat something does not mean they will eat it. Also, I still haven't found a tree climbing goat or cow nor any terrestrial grazing animal who can eat the nasty stuff fast enough to overcome and eradicate the noxious invasive plant. BTW: Yes, you can actually watch it grow! It is terrifying.

It's a crime to accidentally have seeds from other country in your luggage at airport security, but it's "helping" when the government strategically import them.

How does Japan control kudzu?
@SkyeCloudStories

They don’t need to. In its native environment, it has diseases, animals that eat it, and other environmental factors that naturally keep it in check.

No, sir, not the federals, but the democrats. Multiflora roses and whole lot more. Best goat feed there is, and pigs love it. I have family making good money on kudzu.
