If Lindan was born for perfection at badminton, LCW was born as a non-stop fighting warrior. Lindan will be lonely at the top without LCW and people will never know how good LCW is without Lindan. I'm glad that they played at their peak together and improved the sport to the very best
I’m a Malaysian and I’m proud to have a player from our country like him. It doesn’t matter if he never got first place, i mean, think of it: He had won over 70 international titles! And that’s something we should be proud of. He was a really inspirational badminton player and always will be.
people don't care who is number 2 but people only care who is the champion. For LCW lovers, i think he is not the best player because he never won anything. no olympic gold, no thomas cup, never world champion, even asian games had to bribe taufik hidayat😂😂. What a joke. That is malaysia sin of Bribering. Karma is real.
@@traytyler9951same questions you should ask to western countries when their athletes that came from foreign ancestors, won medal/title. "Does it matter when he's black African?" Stpd. Use your brain
He's was a beast. Super consistent. Never had a bad day in the office. But on the grandest of stages, the player on the other side of the net (usually Lin Dan) just had that superior mental edge.
I used him as a role model when I first started liking badminton, it doesn't matter that he never won the Olympics, but for me he has become one of the best badminton legends.
Buckie LD didn't play as LCw. He beat LCW in all major titles. And there head to to is hugely favor LD. It's not that LCW is bad. For so.w read. He was born in the same era as the great LD whom the king if all badminton.
@@MasterNeoRNCPtaufik born in lindan era, and yet he managed to win both olympic 2004 and asian games 2006..and then people say, lin dan is not at their peak before 2006 Peak or no peak..lcw just cant pass major final mentality barrier, especially rio 2016
He's might be the unluckiest but I'd say he's the most admired. My GOAT is LD, but I can't explain why my tears dropped when he announced his retirement. The thrill he gave in every battle, not somebody can achieve easily.
Just like lm10 and cr7 in football. They both were born in the same era. One of them won the world cup/championship, and the other didn't. But that doesn't change the fact that Lin Dan and LCW are the goat of badminton🙌🏽
the fact that they were made his spirit stronger, constantly pushing himself to reach better heights. Something which cannot be done without a rival like Lin Dan
Imagine if lindan is not in lcw era, maybe lcw will have a lot of gold but also maybe lcw will not be as strong as he is when in the same era as lindan.
Lol he is not unlucky because of Lin Dan. He himself agreed he wouldn’t have leveled up this far if there was no Lin Dan. Both the players ruled the badminton for two decades. More than winning Gold at the tokyo games I believe he was there to beat Lin Dan. Axelson momota may get ahead in medal counts but they are never coming ahead of either of the goats in our hearts
It is just not this, he is also very poor when he was young, his dad had force him to study and not focus on badminton at a young age. Not only that, his family’s financial is that bad that they couldnt afford rackets for lee chong wei, even training lessons was a headche for them. Lee chong wei was able to get into badminton because of an old man, i think this old man had already pension being a coach. He took lee chong wei into his eyes when he sees his talent of learning quick and ‘tidak berputus asar’ also means never gives up in his dream. He got rejected a lot of times in the malaysia badminton team, he was so disappointed and sad and didnt stop training, no one was supporting him but only his family and himself. His family couldnt cheer on him because the distance from his hometown to the main city was very far away. He ned to abandon a lot of stuff in order to become the legend himself. Lee chong wei lost to lindan and chenglong a lot of times, but do you know lindan and chenglong got into badminton with a financial state unlike lee chong wei? Even then lee chong wei was only allow to train in the training facility in a certain age. Even though he suffered a lot, but legends never gives up in his dream and now he has become a history in malaysia. Lindan and chenglong also have the chance to train with the previous medalist badminton player in china, china was sponsoring them a lot unlike lee chong wei. Only when he is recognised, he got sponsored a lot.
He once said many much more talented player than him have to give up because of injury..but he almost give up because other accused him stealing in locker room because he's poor background. That's how poor he is back then..
It's not that he's not good for not winning gold Watch his gameplay videos , you'll find that he has the greatest accuracy and greatest presence of mind than any player Other players won mostly because of luck Thank you Lee for everything ❤
He's not an unluckiest player , he's an uncrowned king of badminton history . As a badminton fan I've been watching lcw ever since 2013 . I was stunned by his amazing performance, never giving up attitude at any any cost . His matches with lin dan were more thrilling than any action movie because every single rally or match were so action packed that no one used to even shift from our seats . I really miss his game and specially his rivalry with lin dan .
The answer is because there was no other Malaysian player helped him go against Lin Dan and Chen Long. He usually faced the either one in the semi of big games and then fought the other one in the final. Obviously he didn't have full energy and mental edge when playing in big game finals because of those two.
Lee Chong Wei is not unlucky badminton player, he is a legend,..his titles and records were so great that some professional talented players with workhard could never achieved...
Taufik does have a bunch of golds. But he pretty much hasn't won anything since 2006... like one superseries? LCW still beat world champions Axelsen and Momota in 2018. Taufik lost to a 17 year old Axelsen in 2011...
@@user-gz7fh8vo6eits the case of one is better player (lcw) but the other got the gold (th). We can argue all day who has the better career between the 2, in the end of the day, it's up to your opinion (or your nationality) who got better career. Imo, i rather be th, not as good but have all the golds
Have you guys watched hidayat's interview? As far as I understood, he never mentioned LCW doesn't deserve the BWF. Hidayat was asked by the interviewer how he feels abt not getting the HoF title, he said it's not important to him, he'd rather have the gold medal than 3 silver medals plus HoF. It's his opinion, so what... He didn't complain to BWF nor to anybody. I don't get why LCW was triggered and BWF felt like they had to defend their decision 😂
@@muhammadfarhan581By your logic, Paul Eric Hoyer Larsen and Loh Kean Yew are better than LCW because the one won Olympic gold and the other one won world championship.?? Lmao. Look at the era where they were playing. TH played in the era between post Xia Xuanxe (I am not sure if you know him because you sounds like a casual fan for me) and early Lin Dan. His only real fight back then were Peter Gade, Wong Choong Han and Roslin who were all way behind him. Lee Chong Wei played in the greatest era in badminton history against prime Lin Dan and prime Chen Long who are both Olympic gold medalists in that greatest era. TH wouldn't win shit if he primed in the era of prime Lin Dan, LCW and Chen Long.
Very few athletes, especially in this sport (yes, badminton is BRUTAL) can play until 36 like he could, and was still arguably the best player on tour at that age. I still believe that even at this moment, nobody is at 2018 Lee Chong Wei's level yet. Impeccable work ethics aside, you don't achieve that without a little bit of luck. Just look at most badminton players, even national level ones, their bodies sustained so many injuries by the age of 30, if they are lucky enough to still be playing professionally by then. For me, the most unfortunate badminton player I know of is Kento Momota.
Lee Chong Wei was amazing, but he was not the unluckiest player. He demonstrated that he was capable of winning titles. His opponents at the World Championships and Olympics were just better than him for those tournaments. The unluckiest player was probably Kento Momota. During the apex of his career, he was banned by Japan from participating in the Rio Olympics because of a gambling scandal (I'm sure plenty of badminton players gamble); and then he was involved in a car accident where the driver died and he had to undergo eye surgery. Those are what I would call unlucky circumstances.
If lcw never existed, lin dan would lonely at top like axelsen today. If lin dan never existed, nobody realized how good Chong Wei was. As Malaysian i feel lucky to witness both at their prime. And Olympic 2016 should be at final. Lcw beat ld in their last Olympic clash. You can see how both seems very tired after that semi, while lcw seems not at his fullest against chen long and ld seems look more stressful against axelsen
Boa noite Fumihiro!
By the way he survived and started playing badminton again which made me the happiest man alive and also he could never beat Lin dan the best in the world and retired because of old age and now lee Chong Wei is the best in the world
I would imagine that he and Wang Hao will have an interesting conversation. Wang Hao was a table tennis who had gone through exactly same thing that happened to Lee.
LCW was the best, will remain the best...he is the guy all teenage badminton players admire and practice like...they all wants to get the stamina and agility like LCW...I can never forget this guy playing in court 😢🎉
He is not unlucky at all. He is so lucky that he able to play against another legend in the same era, their battles will be remembered and treasured as the battle between gods of badminton. And most people will agree that there are few, if not none at all, who will reach their level. Please pin this for everyone to see!
Fun fact: He got No 1 badminton player in the world for a few consecutive year before Lin Dan took it from him. Lin Dan vs Lee Chong Wei rivalry was love-hate relationship. They were like Messi vs Ronaldo
He’s the one who taught me my good footwork not really irl but i kept on watching his games all the time I always observe is footwork. So may he heal faster. So he can lay more is already my idol
He is the goat because he is the unexpected batminton player. He do not possess much of the perks u see from most of the international players. No height, no mass, no funding. He relies on grit, training and more training. That's why he is the GOAT.
Get your facts right. LCW has been world No. 1 for 349 weeks, an all-time record. 10 years and 340 days. This is the longest span of no 1 ranking according to BWF records. Even super Dan comes in second at 10 years and 32 days.
We cried when he announced his retirement on national tv. 😢 he is the goat on and off court. His Facebook posts are always so funny , especially the side note. 😂 met him 2x.. very friendly and respectful guy.
Legend and 🐐 he might born in wrong year same as lin dan era but he had inspired hundreds of new generation to start find their passion in badminton and make it as a their career
199 consecutive weeks as World No. 1 (21 August 2008 to 14 June 2012) Amassed a total of 705 wins throughout a 19-year career. Won a total of 69 titles including all-time best of 47 BWF World Superseries titles earning the moniker 'King of Superseries'
I started playing badminton in 2015 and, foolishly enough, I was trying to copy his moves even though I was in my mid thirties! I never received any coaching, watching his highlight videos was a lot more fun.
The second MALAYSIAN BADMINTON LEGENDS AFTER THE FIRST LEGEND WONG PENG SOON N HOPEFULLY MANY NEW PLAYERS WILL JOIN THEM IN FUTURE . Any other who claim to be malaysian BADMINTON LEGENDS are BS.
Because unfortunately he was born and played in the same era of God of Badminton LIn Dan..His silver medals are all gold if he was not born in the same decade. He played in the toughest era of badminton ton ruled by 4 heavenly badminton Kings.
He is unlucky to face Twice Chinease Legend Lin den and then his successor Le chen . Unluckily both Chinease player were Top class Mighty and Lee Chong Wei was almost Equal ,but an inch lesser then those Chinease players 😐
He actually in fact the most luckiest Man to play in those Era. He still proved that he is the No.1 badminton single man world ranking and push not just himself but everyone else to fight for every titles.
Calling LCW "the best" is incorrect because literally Lin Dan outplayed him in multiple occassions. But for me, the reason why he's HIGHLY regarded is because of his tenacity. Despite being injured, he still played, despite having nose cancer, he competed. That fighting spirit is admirable and he looks so graceful on court. And about the part of age, he fought Axelsen despite the ~10 year age gap and kept up (maybe even won) so it's a bit of a moot point.
