Why Lee Kwang Soo never appeared on Running Man again after his last episode?
If you are a fan of Running Man, you must've been missing his antics on the show. He had been with us since the first episode when Running Man was aired in July 2010. Running Man cast members bid Lee Kwangsoo farewell in his final variety show appearance. After 11 years of laughter, Running Man aired “Lee Kwangsoo's Final Race” on Sunday, June 13 2021.
After 559 episodes and 3991 days, Lee Kwang Soo left due to health reasons. The previous year, Lee Kwang Soo was involved in an accident that obligated him to undergo surgeries for his ankle injury.
It was probably the saddest episode ever aired. To this day, some fans still reminisce about their memories with Lee Kwang Soo. Some even stated that they grew up watching Running Man and were hoping that he would return to the show.
Strangely, after his last episode, Lee Kwang Soo was never seen or came as a guest on Running Man ever again. Loyal fans started questioning the real reasons, did something happen behind the screen that fans weren't aware of? Fans discussed about the real reasons when he could just take a temporary leave instead of permanent departure for his ankle injury.
Last year, on one of Running Man's online discussion boards, some fans speculated that Kwang Soo had a problem with Jeon Somin prior his official departure. They stated it was weird that Jeon Somin unfollowed Lee Kwang Soo on Instagram but still followed other Running Man cast members. Fans talked about how Jeon Somin and Lee Kwang Soo were not on good terms. Later, some came to refute the claim, stating that it was impossible because Jeon Somin was a matchmaker between Lee Kwang Soo and Lee Sun Bin before the couple announced their dating news, citing that they are still close friends even if some things went south.
Another account claimed that, ankle injury was just an excuse to leave the show because Lee Kwang Soo wanted to focus on his acting career and change the public view about his fool character on Running Man. Even his family supported his decision make it even clear that Lee Kwang Soo real goal is as an actor instead of a comedian.
We know Lee Kwang Soo despite his betrayal nature in Running Man, it was just his character on the show but off screen he was a polite member. Kim Jong Kook and Song Jihyo also claimed that Lee Kwang Soo was the only member who would take care of them behind the screen after they finished their filming.
Last year, on December 16th 2022, Lee Kwang Soo appeared on Yoo Jae Suk's then new RU-vid channel, DdeunDdeun, alongside Ji Suk Jin, reuniting three iconic Running Man members. It proved that he stayed in touch with his former castmates, showing that their relationship went beyond professional courtesy.
After his official departure from Running Man, Lee Kwang Soo was seen promoting his then, upcoming movie, Sinkhole on various TV shows. Fans also questioned his health condition when he started another Show with Yoo Jae Suk and Kwon Yuri, The Zone: Survival Mission, a program that requires physical challenge. Last year, Lee Kwang Soo starred in another TV series, The Killer's Shopping List together with Seolhyun.
Last month, Allkpop released an article about The undisputed #1 K-variety show that netizens are looking forward to this fall is Na Young Suk PD's new reality show, starring Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Woo Bin, EXO's D.O, and Kim Ki Bang.
A new synopsis of the program describes the general concept of reality as: "A reality show capturing a day-to-day log of four friends who suddenly become farmers as they labor away for a prosperous harvest." Fans are looking forward to this new show.

We can't deny there's possibility of conflicts off screen but it's weird he doesn't come once since then. I just realized it. It's sad though, fans missed him

I think Somin unfollow Kwangsoo because of the hate she receives from Kwangsoo-Sunbin shippers. I feel bad for Somin, she just want to entertain people but always being victim of the haters. Same goes to Jihyo, people always find a reason to hate. They never appreciate their effort of the members.

Those people with hates comments is so stupid.. Everyone has theirs own opinion... I personally like kwang soo x ji hyo shipment... Especially episode running man wedding... Where kwang soo and ji hyo won... Please be civilised human and not send hates comments like a kid 😔

That because showbiz specially in Korea, have fanbase that are fanatics, extreme, unforgiving. Its always be the 'More Solid they are, more Toxic to others', and also theres no shortage of moral high ground argument between these fandom. I saw how people critics Song Ji Hyo (i just restart my watch on running man recently), its insane and probably Sexist too. Sadly we dont really know wtf happen in Running Man. Sometimes, reality stranger than a fiction. Probably they just tired of Running Man, and to going on with scar of mistake, guilt etc, some of them cant go on and they move on.

It's possible he has other reasons other than his injury. He probably prefer acting than become a comedian. But what i don't understand is why Somin unfollow Kwangsoo?

He does other variety show after quiting running man though, like the one with yjs and snsd yuri..didnt know somin unfollow him, when they seem pretty close during his time in running man..maybe theres conflict between them

I believe in korea. When. U wanted to become. "expensive" image actor. U need be isolated like 2-3 years while waiting good script.. that what kwangsoo tried to do.. about show with yjs and yuri maybe of high payment indeed.. But the other reason i think might be reason lks leave is other member keep acknowledge him as comedian , always every episode insult him.. even their friendship more than a decade.. but.. i believe its hurt yourself sometimes.

Kwang soo seems happy away from RM. Just let it be, the end.... 👌😁😷 If you fans miss him so much then watch repeat episodes of RM with Kwang soo. He's moved on & so should the fan's....👀😳🤔🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I think the real reason is focusing on his acting because Lee Kwang soo said that i didn’t know people can into my character about Dong gu. And that make me feel sad because some people still laugh of his character.😢

The real answer is he probably feels like he outgrew his character on Runningman and wants to focus on other shows and have time for other things in his life. There doesn’t have to always be a problem. People talking about conflict between members and stuff but 14 yrs…you don’t just walk away bc of a conflict (which I’m sure they have had many behind the scenes just like with any other family and worked through them over the yrs). It would be fun if he ever does make an appearance but it’ll prob be towards the very end of anything.

11years watching wlthem..im still sad after kwang soo n so min left the runningman.. my biggest hope runningman can invite kwangsoo n so min at least for 2episode.. im still miss them so bad 😢

I just wish that he comes in once in a while to feature in a couple episodes. Like how I thought Gary would be. I hope there is no malice because honestly, I hope there is a day where both So Min and Kwang Soo feature and maybe Gary but almost impossible

What is the benefit of his appearance or non-appearance? I have been following this program for many years and they are actually very famous around the world lee kwang soo joo jae suk kim joong kook ji hyo, but they have failed a humanitarian cause out of fear and greed. They are all the same, and not one of them even defended or spoke about the massacres of Gaza’s children, even by suggestion. I will not forgive myself for having been following them for years thinking they were good but enough is enough. I will boycott the program and the program members forever.
