Why LEGO Prices Need to Stop! 

To be fair though the 2199.99 dollar price tag is not the retail price of any LEGO set (yet, we'll get there eventually) but the aftermarket price that collectors have proven to be willing to pay for them. Especially old sealed kits are highly sought after by collectors and therefore demand a very high price. Why? Because whoever owns these long retired models in this condition, know they will get away with it. After all they don't need us all to want to buy it for that price, they just need one guy who buys it. Thats not to say however that LEGO isn't expensive, it absolutely is, but I wanted to point that out real quick, because it sounded like the 2000+ dollars are the prices LEGO puts on those sets, which is not the case.
