This is why I usually take opponents to Omega Wily's if they ban out Town and City, it's because recovery becomes much easier when I can recover low with wall jumps or mix up recovery.
@@colingznetwork781 same, and for my brother too. To us his recovery is amazing but his fly is hard to control, his skills barely have range, and meta Knight although quick does little damage. Coming from a brawl Zelda pit main this sounds crazy, but I think pit should have been first place, and Zelda around to top of the middle.
relax alax HEY. Throw an annotation in there about how Little Mac's moves are partially not even his -- they're Balrog's. His dash attack, for example, is Balrog's dashing smash punch. His down tilt is Balrog's low heavy kick. ALSO, his down taunt is an alternate version of one of his taunts in Punch-Out!! Wii. COPYPASTE: I'd rather have him fight better in the air, with more powerful air attacks but with a ton of lag. His low-power air attacks, as Alax didn't describe, are because he can't keep opponents from "getting up" in Punch-Out!!. He just has to stand there, wait, and knock them down again, whereas he is very bad at "getting up", and it's a fight(in the form of button mashing) to get up. However, simply making these air attacks very laggy would fix that. He could gimp characters, but he'd have to sacrifice himself to do so.
relax alax What you say was already "confirmed" Zero have problems dealing with little mac using Diddy (even before the nerf), after losing with diddy he just have to pick sheik and destroy him, but that only means little mac can succeed in tournaments if accompanied by a good second main, such as Rosalina.
This video reinforces how I think more people should play Little Mac. Patiently. Just like in Punch-Out!! and real boxing, you're better off waiting for your opponent to slip up so you can punish them instead of just going in fist first and hoping you hit someone. When you play Little Mac, you have to make sure your opponent is afraid of you. He's one of the fastest characters on the ground, so you can't run from him, he has a counter so you can't get too aggressive, and he has that KO Punch to make your opponent even more afraid, and once their afraid, they start making mistakes. Thanks to Mac's speed, power and super armor, he makes a great punish character and assuming the person controlling him knows how to keep Mac grounded, he can be a great character in the right hands.
GrizzlyAdams94 I've been playing Little Mac like that, with that mindset you said, before i even saw this comment and video, everyone else needs to do that
True, but Little Mac is one of the best punishers if you can use him correctly. Simply put, I'm a pretty good smash player, but I was not ready for the Boxer from the Bronx. Haha
You know that as soon as the video ended Alax ran outside, jumped in the pool with his clothes on, retrieved Little Mac and spent the next three hours cleaning him of any scratches or chlorine.
"Why Little Mac SUCKS" *Proceeds to explain how he's not that bad despite his air disadvantage. Not a bad video. And thinking about it again I get that the point is "Little mac sucks in the air because he's just a regular human boxer" but the title right there without context of the meaning makes it seem really clickbaity.
If you think about it, Little Mac is a human boxer going against: -Heroes who save the world (Link, Ness, Sonic, etc.) -Heroes who save the galaxy (Mario, Rosalina, Kirby) -Villains who put up a fight against those heroes (Ganondor, Bowser, Wario, King Dedede) -Technological Terrors (Samus, Megaman, R.O.B, Fox, Falco) -Beasts from hell (Yoshi, Pikachu, Charizard, Lucario, Greninja, Donkey and Diddy Kong, Duck Hunt, and dear lord Jigglypuff) -Humans with support from a crap ton of items (Villager, Sheik, and Link again) -Swordsmen (Fire Emblem, MK) -Witches (Bayonettta) -Angels (Pit and Dark Pit) -Gods (Palutena, -Wii Fit Trainer-) -And a 1 slice missing pizza that want to get revenge for eating him by eating you (Pac-Man)
Yo, guys, you're crazy! Whos responsible for blowing this video up to 200k?! This is so awesome. Like, awesome in the original meaning of the word. My computer is also dead, so a new KYM will take longer than usual. A video will explain that in the coming week. I apologize in advance.
WTF Alax you just through Little Mac into the pool like that? Eh. I'm sure he'll make it back. He's probably a good swimmer. That reminds me I need to play Little Mac on Delfino Plaza.
Get good with Lil' Mac and he's awesome. Nobody realizes it. He's got an anti-projectile move with side-B, an anti juggle/combo move with straight lunge and his counter, anti-approach with smashes, a free kill that breaks shields with KO punch, a good down throw combo with dash+Up-B, and fast punishes with an easy dash dance and fox trot. I destroy people all the time with Lil' Mac, and I rarely get punished. People just have to get a little more experience with him.
This only works if the Little Mac player sucks. 1. Stay at edge. 2. Wait for the Little Mac player to dash-attack. 3. Shield grab him 4.Back-throw 5. If he tries to recover gimp him.
Krissen Jalim Honestly, that's kinda what I love about Mac. A bad mac is the easiest thing in the world to fight. They're a complete joke. One throw and that's it. But a good Mac is scary, one mistake and he'll destroy you. He's make full use of his walljump which basically doubles his recovery potential, and he'll read you like a book. Mac is probably the character that best fits the term "High Risk, High Reward" Hard to play, but super satisfying if played right.
Also, one thing to note is in his idle animation: 5:25 He shifts his legs around quickly which I believe is a reference to "Fly like a butterfly sting like a bee" which is a saying by Muhammad Ali. Basically, it means to wildly switch your stances with your feet which causes your opponent to get distracted by your feet's wild movements which allows him you to have a better chance of hitting him due to him being distracted The butterfly refers to when your feet are jumping around and the bee is referring to when you hit At least, thats how I remember it
well in the games DOC says "Dance like a fly and bite like a mosquito. Im talking about a great mosquito mac a great great big one" which makes me think it is more of a reference to that
Flutter steps and fast leg movements are some things boxers do. But the saying had nothing to do with it. It was Ali stating that you need to be nimble and agile (“float like a butterfly”), but hit hard and apply pressure (“sting like a bee”).
It’s true that Muhammad Ali was a fast heavyweight and used footwork similarly, but it’s not a reference to that quote. I know this because it’s just boxing mechanics. One of the best examples I can think of in footwork and mobility is Vasyl Lomachenko. Just put in the yt search bar “Lomachenko footwork” and you’ll see it. Sakurai and the dev team obviously just modeled Mac’s movement and idle animation around professional boxers.
I'm a Little Mac Main. My friend Phoenix tells me that Little Mac mains are copy & paste, but I don't believe that. I'm a die hard fan of the Punch-Out Series, and until I stand otherwise, it'll be Mac to the Max.
How to play Little Mac: Step 1:Run to your opponent. They'll think you're doing a dash attack so they'll shield. Step 2:Grab Step 3:???? Step 4:Profit.
True but top tier players will body lil mac because his weakness is to much to make him super gud. It's durable but I don't see little making any huge waves when it comes to top players
Eric Nobles Little Mac's weakness are only as apparent as the player makes them. Not a lot of people know how to fight against a lil Mac that actually knows what they're doing, they can easily contest against top players but many of them rather play confirmed High Tier characters
Fernando Molina that's just one guy though, Yoshi has great potentiality to be top tier in Melee, but aMSa only plays as him, so Yoshi doesn't deserve top tier, just like Mac in Smash Cuatro
Yo My name is Isaiah and I play little mac so when you said "I know I sound like Isaiah or something" it kinda scared me lol. Then I came back to my senses.
I'm not gonna lie. I got a little butthurt lol seeing the video title thinking another guy dicking on Little Mac because I main him. But after seeing the video I thought it was funny.
The SEA yea me2, i almosted just wanted to dislike becouse he was doing another little mac sucks, i h8 it when my fav charecter (Who im acully really good with) gets stereotyped...but i stayed till the end and it was...decent....for not being to mean
Wel im used to this, since im able to win a lot of matches prety conicently with charecters that are considered "bad" or "not high tier" zelda and little mac, so its nothing new
Little Mac really is all about patience, you're not meant to rush in and jump into the fray, but rather be patient, read the opponents moves, wait for openings and punish accordingly, kind of like in real boxing actually. Of course, paired with his horrible recovery, that means half the time you end up in a stalemate, with one guy refusing to move from the edge and the other refusing to go near it.
Thats why you space near the ledge so you don't get grabbed and use your d tilt, f tilt , and angled down f smash to pressure his shield so he has to get out of the corner, get hit, or get shield broken.
lil Mac is one of my mains in the "tricksters" category. He really represents me as we both wanna show the smash community that we have potential. For who I main in the "All rounder" category is Pit/Dark Pit and for who I main in the "Technique" category is Shulk.
little Macs original height was a lot shorter. 5ft7 isnt that little Money Mayweather according to celebheights is 5ft7.25 I anticipated he was smaller than that
How to play with Lil Mac: 1. Mash jab. 2. Spam F-smash, D-smash, and U-smash. 3. Dodge roll left and right, over and over. 4. Only dash attack to approach an opponent. 5. Always spam side-B, Up-B, and Neutral (KO Punch). Now you know how to play with Lil Mac.
The only reason why everyone thrashes on Little Mac is because his air game is weak. His ground game is solid, and people just won't understand that. Everyone these days expects characters with good air moves and epic recovery. Then when a ground fighter comes around everyone takes a big shit on it.
Little Mac may have had his beginnings in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, but he actually has moves originating from other games. Take the KO Uppercut. This came from the Punch-Out Arcade games, and returned in Super Punch-Out. Build up enough damage (dealt or received) and you can deliver an uppercut that, well... KOs your enemy. Or rather, just does a lot of damage. Giga Mac, on the other hand, originated from Punch-Out! (Wii), and its two-player mode. When you built up enough energy in a meter, you became Giga Mac and tower over your opponent. However, a Punch-Out pro can benefit more from it being against them, as the game's based around fighting opponents bigger than you. In Smash, no such result. If Alax doesn't see this right away, signal boost this to him! I want him to know what he missed, when looking for the big picture.
i'm a little mac main and when i play at my friends house he always says things like: "little mac sucks why would you want to play him find another main" which means that he doesn't know anything about little mac and should watch this video
I wouldn't say he is that bad, what smash bros really needs is me, after all I am the game master of videoland and are worthy to compete in smash bros.
I didn't neccessarily mean combat wise, I meant more with jumping. His aerial attacks are okay, but if he falls off the stag.. even an inch, then game over, because he aerial recovery is ass, that's one of the reasons why I don't use him much.
If they give him some good air, then to balance, they'll need to weaken his ground game to match his boost in the air. They should just nerf Greninja instead.
Mac is a strong ass character that contains a shit load of launching abilities (including counters) ONLY if you know what you're doing with him. He's given a low rank but if used properly, he shits on every character in the game. Its the players that make him look like shit when he actually takes fucking understanding in order to do shit. Smh~
Little mac is my main, if you know how to use him, then your ok. I can get back on the ledge with him about 80 percent of the time (always barely) because I know when to use his uppercut or jolt haymaker
I already eat level 9's for breakfast with Mac considering I main him. Don't worry about much except Diddy or dark pit, I've learned that the rough way. So please be careful when you fight them. Just a fair worning for a fellow mac main.
I have a friend who mains Little Mac like no tomorrow. You should fight 'im if you really think Little Mac's still a scrub character. On the contrary, he's OP as hell.
If Little Mac was in Brawl, he would've been the cheapest character in the game, because everyone in that game was called cheap including low tier characters.
He's such a popular character - which is why he looks so bad. That means all the little 7-year-olds on their Wii Us use him and play really badly with him. :P
Luka Puka Hard work, or you just just play Corrin and do decent with just hitting any button. But hard work if you want to be a decent human. I do suggest watching Sol though, VERY good Little Mac.
Swift_Heracross Ok then don't buy them, some people like myself collect them because they look cool and resemble the smash bros trophies in-game. I don't even use them for the purpose they're given. Sure if I had a Wii U or New 3DS I would, but that's not the point. The point is, they have value. If you don't care about "Physical DLC" why do you even acknowledge it in the first place?
Film And Skate Seems like no one gets a harmless joke. If you're trying to sound offensive, you're just making yourself sound more stupid than you already are. Shut your ass? Come on - anyone could make a smarter insult than that.
Me: ooh! Let me watch Alan make fun of one of my favorite characters! Relaxalax: well, he has a good moveset but his recovery is absolutely and completely terrible which is why he is low tier garbage Me: :,( why did I watch this expecting the exact opposite of what it is...
Sakurai didn't add Ridley because he's too big and that he's already a boss character now. Goku, he started from in an anime series not on a nintendo video game. If you want characters to be in smash, the character him/herself has to originate from a nintendo video game, and the company who made the character must br owned by nintendo. Sonic and Ryu are from Capcom and Nintendo works/owns Capcom, so that's why Ryu and Sonic are in the game.
Nintendo doesn't own Capcom. Sonic is Sega, not Capcom. The character doesn't have to be a Nintendo character, they just have to be a video game character. If they originated on a video game, and have had a game that was on a Nintendo platform, they are eligible.
ZGamer217 Exactly! Goku didn't originate in a video game. So he is not eligible to be in Smash Brothers. Capcom, Sega and Namco were collaborating with Nintendo when they were making Smash brothers so that's why It can only be characters that originated in those companies.
I love boxing and combat sports. I also love Nintendo and Smash Bros., and the Punch-Out games. But goddamn do I hate playing as Little Mac. Just like, so frustrating.
Ima little mac main and my friends wont let me play him because they want to win. Also i have won 300 dollars through tournaments from little mac in smash 4 Sorry im salty😒
Sakurai : Little Mac sucks in the air because in his source material he's just a normal guy who can't fight whilst jumping Little Mac's source material : Constantly jumping to punch his 7 foot tall opponents in the face
1:35 Well actually when the licence expired he was the champion. That's actually why they didn't renew it. Since licencing the heavy weight champion is extremely expensive and the big "WOW" moment for Punchout was already over. It was still selling but the peak was long gone. So Nintendo didn't feel the need to pay thousands of dollars for it.
Hey Alax. You probably aren't going to see this comment but I want to thank you for this video. It is one of the main reasons I took up boxing as a hobby and I couldn't be more happy. Thank you for changing my life.
