Why Livonia FLOPPED | DayZ 

Hey! Just to be clear, this video is not saying Livonia is a bad map. Just that it wasn't as successful as it should or could have been =] I say here and have many times how much I love Livonia.

I love Livonia! Bought it day one and never got bored of it

I love the greenness of Livonia, that's the only official we play. It's a bit sparse and people get concentrated, but we are move survivalists than PVP players. We prefer sneaking around players running around going loud, and we leave as little a footprint as possible. Now that there don't to seem to be many cheaters it can be rewarding. Our Nitrado Server is Deer Isle. That map has so much more variety with boats, diving, and undergrounds. I've never tried Namalsk, but I live in Florida, so I am not much for the cold. :)

I’m saying this one time. QUIT YOUR WHINING ABOUT LIVONIA BEING FREE. Bohemia were always going to do this at some point and they deserve money for what they do for us. They are not just going to hand back all of the money they earned from this just because a handful of players get it for free and and most of us bought it. Livonia was worth the 15 bucks i paid for it and I enjoy every moment I play on it.

As a console peasant I bought Livonia day one. Never played it. Happy to have done so even if its free now, just to support B.I. who gave me my beloved game.

As a console player all its got going for it is it's a nice change of scenery,the flow of the map is atrocious

Livonia did NOT flop 😭, and anyone complaining about 15 dollars are actually sad.

I love the map, don’t care what so ever that I paid for it. I love this game and will support it any chance I get.

I LOVE Livonia, mainly because it’s harder to survive. I can’t wait for this new map, and I genuinely hope they make it just as hard as Namalsk.

I just want more points of interest around the south. Even just random little towns and houses. So much space to use

it flopped for me when i walked a powerline for literally an hour straight and found no towns or anything. not even any hunting stands or caravans. LIKE WHAT. and i looked on the izurvive map to see if i could find where i was at and could not. its trash.

The only thing that flopped in my opinion with livonia (or dayz in general) is that field backpack can only be found at heli crashes or convoys nowadays. Before, The zombies would carry them at the military bases or it could be found there or in the ruins ruins across livonia. Cheers everyone and Alwaysstreams.

before i switched to pc dayz, I absolutely loved Livonia and it was around 3/4 of my total playtime which is 700'ish on PS5 but since I switched to modded pc I've not played it so much as I started playing other maps such as cherno, deer isle and alteria and they maps just don't compare, especially with the lack of military bases on Livonia but I still enjoy going on official and vanilla Livonia servers occasionally.

I'm not sure if this is the case for vanilla Livonia, but in the modded servers I play on you can't bury backpacks, and you can't break rocks into stones to use as knives. Both of these are kind of a big deal as burying backpacks is how I stash stuff as a solo roamer... and stone knives are hugely helpful, especially to new spawns.

Im on console and bought Livonia shortly after buying the base game. Played it briefly and found it was quite challenging so stuck to Chernarus for quite a while. I’ve recently been playing on Livonia and I gotta say I wish I stuck with it earlier. It’s completely different than Chernarus for play style.It’s great for interactions. I play on a high pop no basebuilding server and I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had playing this game on this Livonia server. I’m saying people should give it a proper go and they may just change there minds like I did

I like the smaller map but one of my biggest turn offs with this map is the lack of progression. Getting to the toxic zones with the lack of nbc gear is almost impossible (unless you base up and stock peices which takes forever). The fact there’s a whole bunker and sort of endgame is really cool but almost impossible to get to. I enjoy a good challenge but atleast make it more obtainable to get to the toxic zones

Was pleasantly surprised when i started to play on Livonia, it ramps up the challenge with an intense focus on managing sicknesses and scarce resources. Food is harder to find, the increased number of zombies keeps you on your toes, and the drive to gear up for intense pvp battles at the bunker brings out the true essence of DayZ. This map makes the game shine in all the ways it should, pushing your survival skills to the limit. Looking forward to Frostline map, the idea of this next map and the mechanics that come with it sound rlly good.

Years of Chernarus building a mental map. I can travel much of the map simply by memory. Have no desire to start over.

It's empty with one single military loot route. I posted this at 1:23 into this vid. **and the Tier system seems to make no sense.

The BIG THING with Livonia (in my humble opinion) is this: -It’s a different map from what most players from the base were used to. You get a smaller map, with forest and thick vegetation around, ruins of villages and a more militarized region. So, even though was meant for a more quiet play trough, you get to see, hear or feel the presence of players around you more often then in Chernarus due to the size of the map and the concentration in the tier zones. (A good example of map you get to walk around more and not get players all the time would be Namalsk, i believe). - it’s considerably a more militarized map so you may get a tier 2-3 loot in a mini bunker right next to your spawn zone (literally next to it if you spawn in Gliniska). The pros about it are that you can get geared up faster so you can actually enjoy a good gameplay without having to spend 3 hours looking for a tier 1 weapon, and also the fact that inserts a certain different dinamic into the map. The cons would be that by putting these points around the map they messed with the flow of the zones and this can break the common sense in the map (wich puts high geared players in the spawn zones killing freshies). For instance: in Chernarus you spawn in Berezino, get to Novo, get to the Base and continue up to Tisy where you either kill someone and move on to the Airfield or you get killed, in both cenarios you get to “climb” zones until a “end game zone”. In Livonia, due to the disruption of the flow you get to Dambog, the Bunker or Nadbor and then you walk back to Gliniska because the “endgame” is in the middle of the map not at the final point. This alone created a series of problems with the map, without saying they wasted basically all the terrain above the river with just Lukow and the Toxic Zone being there but they alone won’t cover the miles of forests abandoned by the devs. -The price for the DLC even though the game was still on “debug testing” (approached on video). They could’ve added the map freely same as the MOD Comunity did with Deer Island or Namalsk but instead they charged for it and what’s worse is that now they just decided to let it “for free” for the new players and all the people who actually bought it before they get nothing in recognition, not even an oficial note. Nothing. Make no mistake a actually play a lot on Livonia, i trully like the map. The faster dinamic I explained before is one of the reasons I play when I’m tired of Chernarus. But even when you like something doesn’t mean you don’t recognize it’s flaws or doesn’t know it has room and capacity to grow and evolve. I do believe they could’ve used the map better and also I’m a strong believer that they could’ve paid more attention to the base player who bought the DLC at first. To not even have mentioned the support they got from them before turning the DLC “free” was an error in my opinion and something that could be easily remediated. I do love this game with all my heart, i spend hours looting, running, hunting, fighting, dying and spawning back and i cannot wait to see what they have stored for us.

Bought dayZ for the Christmas sale really loved it. Bought Livonia 1 month before it was announced to go free because I like the denser forest and actual survival based aspect. And a paywall that kept you safer in lower pop servers was nice. Well now the new map wants me to riot. I don’t want a soundtrack I want the new map for free lol

I actually can't wait for the new map, since we can't have Namalsk on console, I bought the base game and Livonia but I've barely played it because Chenarus is just better

Honestly I think it's because I played so much of the other map that when I got into Livonia I just felt overwhelmed and lost

livonia has a special tier zone right next to spawn zone. this alone makes it a nightmare for fresh spawns.

I was one of those fools who paid for Livonia. Sure wish I hadn't.

- The problems for me are:- - Is was a cynical double dip by Bohemia ! Most people had already bought the map for Arma 3. Then they have the cheek to sell it AGAIN. - A unique selling point was it's interesting rain mechanic - which practically every server turned OFF after afew weeks. Making it just another map. - The centre of the map is just a massive swathe of ruined buildings ! Which apart from being lazy and pointless, only makes sense if you bought Arma 3 First Contact. I don't regret buying it, because supporting BIS is important, even when they are cynical lazy, as in this case.

At the time it was bugged? I still crash when I drive because the game teleports me into a tree mid drive, when climbingn a latter my character sometimes starts warping up and down, Zombies phase through walls and doors, inventory glitch.. I can go on and on. Sad part is they are making yet another map instead of fixing bugs.

I just wrote and deleted paragraphs on issues with DayZ. It all comes back to one problem, Bohemian UnInterested.. Sorry I mean UnInteractive.. Damn my basement dwelling, butter coated, fat fingers.. Bohemia Interactive. They have literally given up on fixing their bugs and improving the gameplay for making the overall game harder and adding silly little bags. The best change though, has to be the "Cheeseburgers" bird. Whoever's idea it was to add that should be running the company.

I love livonia, i run a livonia server on playstation and ive adressed a couple of the issues with it with poi's etc. But when i play official i usually set up a couple stashes half way between spawn and nadbor, swarog etc and it makes it a lot easier to run back to those stashes then after a while set up a base, i usually get lucky finding stashes and cars too, currently on an official server i have a truck full of building stuff with over 1600 nails, a humvee, a fewe pairs of nvgs, lars, akms, suppressors etc etc all without duping and theyve all been hidden for well over a week without being found

I also bought Livonia and just fell in love with the map. Never got bored.. It was refreshing to see a big open space with few cities scattered about. Reminds me of the beatiful nature from the lower parts of Serbia. Definitely worth it for me 🚬

At launch of Livonia the dev stream said that the fruit trees were still placeholder trees and would be fixed in an update. It is 2024 and this is still the case. This is why I do not like Livonia.

Livonia is my favourite map, I just wish it was a little bit bigger. The winter Livonia is also amazing, I wish I could find the IntenZ server that used the winter Livonia map, it was pure misery and I loved every minute of it.

I bought Livonia, didn’t really like it. Too much woods and rain. Weird map layout.. but I sunk enough hrs into the game I don’t feel ripped off having payed for it. I should give it another try lol

I'll never regret buying Livonia (2x steam and PSN) But it was too empty, and still is. But now they got rid of some of the densest forests killing the initial unique Livonia appeal. Now we got a semi empty half finished map. The bunker was a great addition, but there's still no reason to visit most of the east side. And dolnik needs a military base. May be a port and some water.

I'm playing the game on ps4, I have to say I do like Livonia and I did pay for the Livonia map when I first bought the game. I like the fact that the town names are written in letters I can actually read so I never have to struggle with wondering about where the hell I am. 😄 And the above ground military bunkers is a nice little addition.

After i got in the Bunker i lost all interrest in livonia

So true, lots of missed opportunity, I didnt buy it because it just didnt seem like it added anything and I was on console at the time

They reused too many Chernarus assets - instead of giving the map a unique look they went the lazy way.

I still remember my first playthrough on Livonia, very captivating map.

I like it. I’ve made the eastern side of the map my home territory. I know it like the back of my hand. When people stray in from the west it’s fun to stalk them.

This map is my favorite map next to the modded map deerisle. Everything is so green and the loot routes are nice. I think the new POIs have really added to the map.

Before I even watch im just going to comment and say because its unfinished. I was impressed sumrak took the time to even add the bunker. If you fly around in free cam you can actually see empty spots where it looked like they had plans to finish more areas. One of the coolest locations on the map is Radunin and they made it a perm gas zone so no one goes there anymore. lol Devs have no idea what they are doing. Because of this I'm worried about the bad design decisions that might be going into Sakhal.

I bought Livonia day one and have played it for a total of two times with solid playthroughs. I learned my lesson and will not be buying the new map especially since I already own this map in Arma 3

After watching your latest video on Sakhal, I decided to rewatch this video and focus more on my experiences with Livonia. For me, it wasn't until the devs reworked the spawns so that more people spawned closer together did Livonia became playable. It seemed the reworked spawns also resulted in my finally being able to come across the new buildings, etc. that the devs added to Livonia. That being said, I still sometimes spawn miles away from any town or area that offers any tools or loot. Pointing out that despite the additions, Livonia is still too sparse for my tastes. They should remove the spawns that place you in the middle of nowhere. I've ended up dying by starvation because of these distant spawns. I still think Livonia could use more content and less wide open empty spaces. Thanks again for your enjoyable and informative content. Looking forward to Sakhal in September!

I just find the weather system on Livonia to be way too painful to deal with. Constant rain just shits me off to no end. I tried going for a jog on Livonia the other day but switched back after running in the rain for 2 hours.

Very well said! It was not a good launch, but they've learned from these mistakes and now I can see why they made it free! I just made a video similar in style, its about the current state of interaction.

To be honest they didn't really have a dev team, and they didn't have alot of money. They also hired a bunch of people to help them with the wishlist of items plaguing the community. With the purchase of this map will give them resources to hopefully fix these issues. Honestly to be able to create such a got game with what they had is a achievement regardless of its issues. It had alot of issues sure and I started late on DayZ as well so I did not experience alot of the features of DayZ. So let's give them some support because they have started to address our features and with sahkhal hopefully we will get them resolved but we will never know untill after the drop.

Livonia NEVER 'flopped'. Asshurt children that can't fathom the way business works at times merely delayed play & praise for a bit, but its become one of the more active maps outside of Cherno.

I wouldn't call it flopped. It's just less popular. It's more survival based ,while most especially younger players like more action. So it appeals to some people more than others. And that's okay. I would like much more official maps with different layouts, climates and play styles. Would be cool if they could release one map every year to keep the game alive.

What makes me mad about it being free is the fact that they made it so after significantly improving the game these past years and crucial months. I could never get into Dayz for more than a weekend before because it was just too unsupported but it’s fire now (on console, always been on PC) and they decide to lose money… Fundamentally though Livonia is a great map imo, but it’s just such an un-understandable series of choices from Bohemia surrounding it

Been playing dayz on console for a couple of years. Started playing Livonia once it became free to play recently. (I'm not paying money for extra content) It's a lovely map and I'm enjoying exploring new places. At the moment spawn towns are crazy and it's hard to get out alive on busy servers. But once I'm heading south on the map I hardly see anyone. There's not a lot to loot and I'm needing a second person if I want to do the bunker, which is risky as a solo trying to trust a stranger to team up with. The map really isn't going to interest new players. It's too sparse and not enough going on. As a console player I would love the map choice that PC players get. Namalsk looks incredible.

I bought Livonia almost 2 years ago and am now playing it exclusively since 1.25. I like it because survival is a stronger core to the game. I love Chernarus, but playing as a survivalist I rarely ever saw anyone and with the size of Cherno, I rarely saw other players when I would actively go looking for PvP. But because of my crafting and survival skills, I'm finding Livonia to be enjoyable because I feel I have a leg up in the survival aspect. Only thing I know is the players are just as toxic and the more toxic they are the greater the chance they are combat loggers

The first time I played Livonia I was stunned by the detail. It seems more vibrant than Chernarus in some way I can't define. However, it does feel like a bit of a desert. The balance of areas to Loot and areas to explore just isn't quite right. It has one castle for example. The destroyed towns have nothing in them! The woodlands are empty of anything intriguing and the bunker mechanic sucks because as a solo trying to get into it is impossible! Its just not right. Looks good though.

I enjoy Livonia and create content for it all the time. The current series is at its XVI installment.

I like it a lot. I grew up in the country and still live around small towns. Livonia, to me, feels more familiar and that makes for good rp sometimes.

When I played DayZ it was always for the survival aspects. If I never ran into anyone I was happy so I personally had a lot of fun on Livonia.

Well to say the least I did what you always say and put some time into it and I am enjoying it more. I see now what I couldn't see before. Livonia is more about survival than gunning up and keep from getting killed. Yet again I am so glad I found your channel.

Its unfortunate. One of the best servers i ever played was called "the neighborhood." 70 slot 3x server. Never ending fun until the owner hung it up. Rip

I hate the spawns, the rain, and lack of height diff. Navigating seems problematic.

i dont think it floped look dayz is after all this time still growing and things change the problem in my opinion is that you had to pay for levonia like a dlc but it was basicley just another dayz map. i spent most my time on namalsk (love that map) when i started cause i wasnt a big pvp player, then i played deerilse a lot but i never got levonia because of the price. this may seem stuped cause the price is not high when your from the usa but for me (iam from south africa) 1$=25r its not worth buying but now that they made livonia part of the main game it should breath new live into it. o yea dont forget takistan also a good map the only problem i have is there is almost no water to get from nature even when it rains and water areas like wells are always places where other players camp and wait for easy kills

I personally love the map. With the rolling hills and countryside it reminds me of good old blighty! Where I live the flat world belief is almost believable lmao (Netherlands). So I have one more reason to love the map. Top video as ever!! Love to run into you, but " besties " only!! Keep up the great work you do, and it's my turn for the next round of beers !

Desecrated Lands® has very active Livonia servers as well as others. Good community and active admin.

Chernarus feels organic and eerily real because it has a real world counterpart. Livonia just dies not transport that for me. But i keep coming back to that eerie Chernarus feeling. Feels like home by now.

You want to know why Livonia flopped???? Because I paid for it a couple of years ago when I had gamepass.. I could play it then and no one was on it… Fast forward to a year or so ago, my gamepass subscription had lapsed, and when I got it back, I couldn’t play Livonia. Their system or Microsoft or whatever has no record of my purchasing the game. And now, they are to if away for free? How about you put it at a big discount, and use that money to develop the game play experience. And I’m not even one of those people to complain about many changes. Since I started playing 4 -5 years ago then game has improved a lot. And for the people complaining about the difficulty of the zombies, you wouldn’t have survived 5 minutes in dayz 5 years ago… If you went uncon by zombies you were dead. The game had a much more desperate feel to it.. I’d you actually develop skills in dayz, you would know that the zombies were too easy to bypass.! I rarely ever had to kill one.

Livonia is a beautiful map and if you get a good server its unbeatable! My only real issue is that sometimes it just feels like days and days of rain.

Absolutely agree with everything in the vid, but, as a map, this suited me down to the ground. I prefer to survive than get all military geared up and kos, which is Chermno's shame. I've lived in the south for months now, and even after getting the backpack etc, i still prefer this to Cherno. I'm anticipating the new map being along more PVP than PVE mostly due to the size than anything else, but hope to be proved wrong.

I play Livonia as a Nomad instead of a Base build. Enjoy the sparse towns compared to Chernarus. It is very different. If honest I enjoy Both. Eventually will get to see more when I upgrade to PC but until then... will make do with what console has to offer. I love Livonia but if I knew it be free eventually I never would have bought the DLC. Tho it was only 10 dollars US for me so personally it’s the most played DLC in my collection and absolutely worth the 10 extra dollars

I loved it. It's very similar to the environment I live in and I love wilderness survival aspect of the game so it made Livonia a step up in difficulty.

I prefer Livonia, I stay around the middle point of the map where the river runs through and there's long grass on both riverbanks. Pair that location with a mossy green ghillie and you got a nightmare of a camper.

Livonia is just too annoying for me, the rain is annoying, the lush environment looks nice but makes it annoying to fight in, especially since the patch that makes trees and bushes bulletproof, towns are few and far between and the bunker is the only place worth visiting

At about the 7 minute 30 second mark I have to disagree with that statement as at the time I was on PlayStation 4 and the original map chinaris was a laggy SOB while Livonia was very clean as in terms of no lag for the PlayStation 4

In my experience most players stay on the top half of the map and just pvp every chance they get. And the bottom half of the map is just a run for miles and get lost simulator until you get sniped by some super geared squad at one of the southern poi's

There is competition from community maps/servers. The map is deadly enough to a solo as it is without the 'bandits'. You need a car to survive a trip to go deep south because without it the bears/wolves will enjoy a fresh snack of me.

I regret buying it. Them giving it away for free is a slap in the face. I do not like the lack of building and loot. You can tell they tried to hard to make it a nature based map. Most players do not like that.

Had some good gameplay on Livonia, but it was the people I met, not the landscape. Chenarus seemed more real

My biggest criticism is it's too empty, with far too few pois. It's a beautiful map with huge potential, but it needs much more, to compete with Bitterroot, Alteria, Chernarus.

The south is extremely boring and the map really needed to be of equal sized to livonia to support the forest they touted. Running through the woods just to end up in a flat field further down is really off putting.

To be honest, I like Livonia. It's a fun map. It's just a more rural map than chernarus. I don't understand why everyone has such an issue with it

Livonia is the only one I play, well worth the money I spent on it. And it goes to support the creators, so I’m completely fine with it, hell I bought it for my friends too. It’s a better map if you don’t feel like memorizing Russian 😂

It's just the free custom maps made it look like a waste of money. I spent so many hours exploring Chiemsee and Taviana, and they are free.

I like Livonia. It is a VERY different feel from Chenaurus, and I totally understand why people don't like it. Making it DLC felt like a cash-grab. That sucked. But the map is still fun!

I bought Livonia on release day and I've enjoyed it ever since.

I think if the beginning was on livonia, it would be different but startin with a big map with big cities and then go on livo is less. Once you have done bunkers, its all done. Small cities, a lot of villages, scattered loot, useless vehicules... Playin pvp could be still ok, but for pve players nah...

I just started playing day z in like 2/2024 and easily it rocketed to my favorite game, I started on console, put about 300 hrs, bought Livonia and eventually; by may, I got my gaming pc and the first game I got was day z where I saw the amount of free content and maps there were (I’d originally wondered why Livonia was free on pc) now I see and it’s crazy Livonia cost me $30 lol i dont mind paying it I love the game and a total investment of about $90 in day z (buying it on console, pc and the dlc) eh it’s fine, love the game

Livonia is more easier than chernarus but more creepy in the sense that the forest are so dense

I started with livonia so when i go to chenarus i feel lost because i cant read the signs but i have fun on both maps but livonia is my favorite by far

i bought livonia mostly out of curiosity as wilderness hunting map should be right up my street, got some thousands of hours playing mostly vanilla/hardcore PvE. then i learned that best loot on livonia is not available to a single PvE player due to the lovely bunker mechanics... yeeeeah... that was a kick in the balls. that's ok, there's always namalsk. or pripyat, or deer isle if i feel like doing some parkour. or a ton of other maps. anyway i'm not touching livonia with this bunker mechanic as it is and quite frankly will likely pass on sakhal as well, just so pi**ed off about this bunker thing... and between chernarus and namalsk i really don't need more

Market forces: I bought Livonia on Steam but then since early 2020 I haven't had the time to set aside and really play Livonia -- or anything else that requires more than 20 mins lol, meaning just watching @AlwaysStreams instead X-) But looking at taking some vacation soon and in between traveling looking at blocking out several afternoons for vanilla -- likely Livonia if I can find a server with enough people and low ping. (vanilla b/c I don't want to spend the whole time dicking with mods -- although maybe that's not a concern anymore? Vanilla Livonia looks good still though)

My favourite map. Been alive for 3 months on official and I ain't no duper. I'm a hunter of people and animals
