In Jess’s Survivor 46 pregame interview, she said she doesn’t have patience for rules. This obviously drew the attention of David Bloomberg and Jessica Lewis because now that she’s out of the game, it’s their job to figure out which of David’s rules she followed, which she didn’t, and the reasons behind it all. Why did she have such a different experience compared to others on her tribe? It’s time to figure out Why Jess Lost.

I feel part of it is that she didn't know the game enough to know her struggles were going to be so detrimental to the game. ADHD and sleep have a strong connection, lacking sleep can really turn one's brain to absolute putty. No focus, scattered thoughts, losing things ect. In my mind I have always thought I would be bad at survivor, I am a super fan I listen to all the podcasts and analysis- but when I'm hungry and sleep deprived I am very much not able to use my own mind that I am generally very confident in. In real life us folks with ADHD can take medication, and structure our lives to accommodate our own minds. Survivor has no such grace, it will tear down the structures you have made to function and you have to pray you can cope. It is part of why it's so entertaining. But also damn I just would never play survivor. I think it's brave of Jess to try, even if it didn't go well.

After listening to Jess’s exit interview I am even more convinced this tribe was especially harsh in playing that stupid fake idol game with her. She clearly wasn’t going to use her shot in the dark. They should have been aware of that. Also the fact that they were yelling at her during the challenge when she was the shortest and weakest player out there was ridiculous. She should have been utilized towards the lower part of the arch where she could reach and everyone taller in the middle. They can blame Jess all they want for losing that challenge but the whole team is a mess.

I agree with the challenge parts but you can’t seriously blame them for playing the game by doing the fake idol strat. It’s Survivor, you never know what someone is gonna do so you have to have contingency plans, especially in the new era with advantages flying all over the place and the SitD always being a potential threat. It’s obvious to us, the viewers, that Jess was basically throwing in the towel but the Yanu members don’t necessarily have that information, and clearly Jess was at least somewhat wanting to stay or she wouldn’t have played the fake idol. If Jess and Bhanu were more driven players, there’s a good chance Jess plays her SitD here and Bhanu throws a vote on Kenzie, Q or Tiffany. If it hits, one of their games is unceremoniously over right then and there. Jess can’t be upset that she got played here in this way, she knew what she signed herself up for.

I really wish they would start with two tribes then go to three at 15 then the merge tribe. Rob described this to Stephen after house interview with Jess that it could have been a medical evacuation if she had stayed longer. When they penalize a tribe for losing and not having basic needs of fire they automatically set up the losing tribe to spiral. Sometimes the people can push through that like Aubrey, but more likely you border on torturing people for the sake of ratings. Sleep deprivation is a tactic for things that should not be associated with survivor. The larger tribe at the beginning can give more chances to make connections and drama or alliance options instead of isolating one or two people like Venus or Tim. It just makes for the same game play. Maybe they can tell them they have flint, but take away something else. Feel bad for Jess and just glad she didn't get voted out first.

I’d rather they start with three tribes and go down to two in a swap, three tribes of five is kinda boring imo in the end stretch into the merge and you also run the risk of multiple members of the same tribe being on the same tribe and forming an obvious majority, like what happened in 45. Going from three to two at probably 14 guarantees that there will at least be some shuffling since even if the worst case scenario 6 former tribemates end up together on one beach, the other tribe will be a mix of two tribes.

So I understand the need to plan for all scenarios like a SITD to make sure you aren’t voted out of the game with a stray bullet. And I will give Jess’s tribe the benefit of the doubt where I don’t think it the idol bluff was meant as a mean-spirited or malicious play. But that said, I’m still scratching my head wondering why they thought after 5 days playing the game that Jess in her condition was ever going to use her SITD. If you had to be talked in looking for an idol when Jess had no interest in doing so and she was more concerned in getting sleep than strategizing, I don’t see the connection where you were worried that Jess was ever playing in her strategic self interest. I know you have to consider all options, but I don’t know why Jess and her condition wasn’t a consideration. I don’t really know why they haven’t tried to talk to her to see where her head was at. Maybe she would have said that she had enough of it-like she was considering planning to tell her tribe. Honestly, this felt like planning all your energy ahead for an asteroid hitting Earth. Is it technically possible? Theoretically yes. Was it ever plausible or realistic. No. Sure, you can plan for all game scenarios and while there are a lot to realistically plan for, there are some that could easily be disgarded with more talking with Jess. Plus, because you wasted that shot to get rid of Jess, you can’t try the same thing on Bhanu if that tribe loses again. He knows a fake idol was planted and might be expecting something like that again. Bhanu was a much better person that would have been better to fool in that situation since he would have been more emotional and paranoid than Jess. Q has more of a better relation with Bhanu and I can see the relationship disarming Bhanu to let his guard down and which he would have been fooled to try the idol. But now that you tried it with Jess with very little benefit, this felt more of a wasted opportunity. At the end of the day, it may not matter, but I think strategically, there was a better way to get rid of Jess instead of this plan, in my opinion. I think it was a bit of an error on their part.

I'm not really liking Jessica Lewis's vibe in the first 30 minutes. I understand being honest in your assessment, but she's coming off more negative and harsh on Jess. David is at least being more empathetic of what Jess was going through, especially as a neurodivergent player, suffering the elements & sleep deprivation without medication, and being socially isolated. Everyone experiences Survivor differently, and after admitting she was struggling with her ADHD out there, I'm sure Jess will tell you she was not cut out for this game and probably realized that too late. But something about Jessica Lewis' attitude towards her is kind of rubbing me the wrong way, and I normally like and agree with Jessica.

I think the second 2 hour episode should’ve been the merge episode to really focus on new relationships rather than episode 2. So random

How bout instead of taking flint away we instead just have the previous losing team strart two mins later than the other tribes . Stop taking away or giving away flint survivor should just delay the losing tribe for the next challenge

Has anyone else noticed that Survivor has become predictable after season 40. Every season is in Fiji, has three tribes of six players each with no themes. Every challenge is an obstacle course followed by a puzzle. The first reward is always basic camp supplies, followed by fishing gear the following week and the rest are food rewards. Every season has beware advantages, and every player always takes them. The players are much more eclectic than they used to be. And every season, they ensure that everyone knows they met their quotas. In my opinion, the lists below indicate less creativity in the show. Best pre-season 40 rewards: 1. Helicopter flight to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef with full buffet lunch 2. Day trip on a 100 foot luxury yacht 3. Exclusive visit to a Buddhist temple in China 4. Participating in an authentic Marquasian feast 5. Helicopter ride to view volcanic activity on Mount Yasser 6. Day visit to an authentic Vanuatu village with feast 7. Day long deep sea fishing trip in Panama and keep all fish caught 8. Cars in each of the first 14 seasons 9. a trip to the temples of Siem Reap, where they enjoyed a feast and a traditional Cambodian ceremony 10. Swimming with Whale sharks in the Philippines 11. Hot air balloon ride in Africa 12. Jellyfish lake in Palau Best post-season 40 rewards: 1. watching baby turtles move into the ocean in Fiji 2. fishing gear 3. tarp 4. machete, pot and flint 5. grilled cheese sandwiches and chips 6. chicken stew 7. ten fish 8. Applebees feast reward 9. overnight stay at a sanctuary with feast 10. helicopter ride out to a sand spit for lunch 11. tool kit and fruit platter 12. coffee and pastries

That started happening way before 40 if you eliminate the Beware Advantage criteria.

In fairness, while it is one of the most awesome limes “if someone asks if you’re a god, you say ‘yes!” Is probably one of the most obscure. “There’s definitely a very slim chance we’ll survive” is also a very underrated Ghostbusters line. That works for the shot in the dark.

There were a few times after Jessica said her part, I just wanted to yell Amen. This episode was "meh", you need to know what you are signing up for when you are playing Survivor. Start with 2 tribes and switch to 3. etc.

Very glad she and CT won. They won most of the money, and I can't stand the whiny non-gamer Bravo people. MJ's behavior was, and apparently still is, just ridiculous and childish. It is a game, grow up! It would be nice to have a Tratiors with just gamers, but I suppose that won't happen.
