Why LSU is falling behind in NIL arms race 

It's more than just NIL. #2 recruit Walter Nolen just said in an interview he would have went to Tennesee over A&M if he made a decision solely on NIL deals. It's NIL + a good coaching staff that can recruit and develop.

LSU will be fine. Trust me the boosters see what's going on. If they came up with that much money to pay Kelly, NIL money is there. Its just that the most turbulent time in their program is occurring during the prime time for signing and flipping recruits. I think they land a couple more solid recruits in February and next years class will be on par with the rest of the best. This is coming from an Aggie. Trust me we are enjoying this class while other big time programs are rebuilding.

I’ll be honest. I think a lot of these 5⭐️ recruits are looking beyond NIL and likely have people in their family doing the same. Alabama has had 37 players drafted in the first round since 2010. If you really don’t question whether you will go to the NFL or not, it comes down to how high you’ll be drafted. I think that has a lot more to do with recruiting than NIL or whatever lil car or chicken finger deal we’ll throw around. Texas has an endowment almost as big as A&M. They have plenty of alums with super deep pockets as well. They haven’t had a first round pick since 2014. It isn’t all money. Similarly, when you’re talking about Louisiana players, it’s going to be a rough year when everyone in the state has been freaking out bc the program was all clusterfucky.

I am from Louisiana. I can’t imagine going to Alabama or Texas A&M for any reason. Those guys will go to those other schools and despite their success will come back to Louisiana one day to live and will be virtually unknown. However, those players that play at LSU and decide to live here will get presented with more future opportunities than any NIL money that they could possibly receive. Kids nowadays don’t see the long term picture

Most of these kids families are low class or almost poor and they make the decision best for their families. Also, making it to the league not guaranteed so why not capitalize when you can? These kids don't owe lsu anything, the school doesn't care for them because if they did, they would've had the NIL in place already, everybody else knows how to get it done, there's no way you telling me lsu doesn't know how. Instead of them signing deals with casinos, they should've been trying to find a way to pay players

Only when your school doesn’t get the recruits it becomes a problem whether people are getting paid. It will never change.

It's not entirely NIL.. these kids like those coaches. These Louisiana kids are not buying into Brian Kelly. If it was totally NIL the University of Texas would wipe the slate when it comes to money especially Alumni pockets are deep. I guarantee Woodward is getting some interesting phone calls now. LSU is losing guaranteed commits from the state. This is going to get bad for the boot.

The 900lb elephant in the room that no one is talking about is the fact that the schools are not supposed to facilitate the NIL deals or use them to persuade a potential player or recruit to go to their school. The player is supposed to secure those deals themselves after getting to campus. Bama and A&M are so far ahead of everyone is because both schools have been paying out NIL deals for years. Since its Saban and Fisher no media or NCAA official will say one word or even bother to raise one question.

Now we have to go really, really hard at Jacoby Mathews, Harold Perkins, Trevonte Citizen, & Denver Harris. I’d have Frank burning up the zoom calls with Jamal Adams & Grant Delpit with Mathews & Mathieu, Peterson, Tre White, & Stingley on with Harris. Then I’d have Fournette on with Citizen & then Devin White, Queen, & Damone Clark on with Perkins. We for sure have to land Mathews since he is the top guy left in the state at a position of HUGE need. We also desperately need a corner and you will likely get the most early playing time here at DBU. So it makes tons of sense for Denver to come here. And with the portal, if you don’t like it here you’ll can bounce like Elias Ricks just did. Then if u can’t land Citizen you better be hard on Etienne. We already got somewhat burned when we didn’t go after his brother. I still can’t believe how they let Corey Raymond leave. You gotta keep that guy in the building. I still don’t understand how a Louisiana kid can go to Bama. I know you are pretty much guaranteed to win a Natty, but still I couldn’t sell my sole to Bama for a chip. Anyone that knows about A&M. Knows that it's one of very few public schools that has top academic programs in almost every major STEM field. Bringing them up to Ivies is unfair, but they are absolutely a public Ivy up there with Michigan, tOSU, and Florida. A&M is a top public institution in one of the richest states, and swimming in alumni support. In state of nearly 30 million, with football as religious as it is. It's not just A&M and UT anymore either. Even Texas Tech managed to still recruit a 40 class. Baylor won tye Big 12. And UH is backed by a super billionaire in one of the fastest growing cities. If anyone has also paid attention, North Carolina and Kentucky are also in a top 15 position. Basketball money and support will bleed into these non traditional programs. Would anyone have ever guessed both basketball blue bloods to be in this position? Kentucky? UNC? Pulling in 4 stars in football? NIL will become an arms race in the state of Texas. Louisiana recruits will be prime for the picking. It's just too easy, and so many people have deep ties in both places.

Hopefully they will start doing the NIL like the other school are doing!!

Most likely it's the teams that had the best infrastructure to get players paid under the table in the past are now best established for funneling NIL contracts to players above board now using the same channels. LSU is not Bama, and therefore it makes sense that Bama would be far and away the leader in the NIL front. Bama essentially has won half the championships in the last 15-20 years. LSU has a nice pedigree to play off of, but everyone is going to be dwarfed in the shadow Bama is going to cast.

College football has just gotten out of hand . Coaches get paid way to much, players now are getting nil money. The television rights are paying way to much money. You can’t even take your children to a game anymore with out a second montage on a house. It has just gotten out of hand. It has ruin the game. I don’t feel sorry for any player.
