I’ve always wanted to play the PAL Hidden Mansion, honestly the original Hidden Mansion is actually easier than than the original, but the PAL version seems way harder
Technically the 3DS hidden mansion is its own unique mansion because it has new ghost placement for each room (not found in any other game it was edited by grezzo) and all hearts you could find in objects are replaced by poison mushrooms (the only way you can get hearts is by capturing multiple ghosts at a time) and i think some other things too, still isnt that good though, most of the new ghost placement i was talking about is just spamming tough ghosts in a room and the hearts thing is really annoying because the only way to restore your health to full is to save and then die.
the 3DS hidden mansion actually has a lot of new differences from the pal version (if my memory is correct I didn't buy the remake) but yeah from what I have heard its worse than pal
Basically the 3DS version brought over a bunch of the difficulty from the pal version but left things out for certain reasons like riding the Poltergust the reason why they took that out was because the original Luigi's Mansion was built using the Poltergust 400 and so before they switched to the Poltergust 3000 if they left the animation and mechanic into the pal version but if they were to do that in the 3DS version it wouldn't make sense because there is no wheels on the Poltergust 3000 and even the pal version the Poltergust 3000 Clips through the floor because it was built with the Poltergust 400 model so the animation make the Poltergust 3000 be clipped through the floor
While the pal release may be the definitive release of the game feature wise, it should be noted that the pal release is still 50HZ as the GameCube just at the tipping point between the option being available to pal players. It may also be locked at 521i but that may be a fault of the AV to HDMI adapter I’m using. I only really know this because I’m intentionally looking at differences in New game Plus of Luigi’s mansion as a whole as a lot just doesn’t appear to be documented
I 100% the PAL ISO and Area 3 was kicking my ass so bad. Area 4 was like picking Intense in Brawl's classic mode. US Hidden Mansion feels like a walk in the park for me.
For people coming back to this video, I want to recommend the Luigis Mansion Premium Deluxe mod. It takes the ntsc version of the game and makes a lot of changes and additions such as changing the look of some of the ghosts and making the game much darker to offset the brightness of emulation. It also adds back the cut on disc content, adds in the ghost encounters from yhe pal version and adds collectsbles for egads lab. Ive yet to reach the hidden mansion, so idk the changes made there, but so far it has been a blast, and something every luigis mansion fan shiuld try
5:54 I am european, so I played the PAL Hidden Mansion as a kid. (Lucky me 😁😜) And just because it was flipped I didn't understand why they didn't call it the "mirror mansion", a few years later I did understand!
Andrew you are so right to be mad about the addition of a proper hidden mansion in the 3ds version. I thought I was going to be able to play that version of the mansion and now it's kind of disappointing to see that it's really only a slightly harder game without all those crazy additions.
7:57 I fully agree it’s something about the remake that doesn’t hit like the og and I recently got a copy of the og again for memories even tho I got the 3ds version the only thing imo the 3ds has that is better than the gc version is the local multiplayer and how you can replay bosses in the gallery which both should’ve been in the original idk y they removed it cuz I heard they were originally gonna have multiplayer locally maybe they had the idea of gouigi back then 🤔

The 3DS Hidden Mansion changes the locations of Mario's lost items. His hat is no longer in the Laundry Room, yet the game still says it was washed lol
Luigis mansion gc is always going to be my favorite, 2 was ok and is decent but lacks the art style and gameplay charm, 3 looks amazing but lacks the gc charm hate the gameplay, 3ds is probably the closest we’re gonna get to the gc which is ok
Actually I played the og PAL version and the difference has zero impact on the gameplay...the game is slow and more focused in puzzles so the speed is literally useless I didn't notice any difference Note: slower doesn't mean worse
@@fco64 Sure, yes. It's most likely not going to affect gameplay, but I like playing my games at 60hz, otherwise it feels weird to me. Personal preference mostly
took you 10 tries to beat the final boss on hidden mansion lemme just.... luigis mansion was my first game, got it and my gamecube around 17 years ago. Fast forward like 7 years, i finally made it to the final boss. Where i tried, and tried and tried but never could beat it. Lost the memory card, made it to the boss again, tried and tried, with zero success. Fast forward again and i got the game on 3ds when it released. Finally luigis mansion in 3d as it was meant to be! Made it to the final boss, and once again tried and tried with just endless deaths. Idk why i couldnt beat this boss. Well, last week while rewatching the beta 64, i pulled it up and beat it first try. Man. I love this game so much and now cannot wait to beat the pal version to play the true hidden mansion since 3ds one is lame :)
I have a theory, you know how the Poltergust 400 (the beta vacuum) has wheels on the underside which seem to have no purpose. What if in the beta, Luigi was going to ride the Poltergust no matter what mansion you’re in? (Please excuse my horrible grammar)
Oh boy, most of the PAL hidden mansion hasn't been too bad, but no exaggeration, I've been stuck at the Bowser fight for about seven hours. The RNG for when the bombs explode and when Bowser decides to suck you in throws me off completely and aggggghh.
I did play the Japanese version back In 2017 and there was glitch where the music wasn't playing anymore and this happened in the end of the game all you heard was SFX and that's it.
Please show how to get this version on dolphin or something because luigis mansion is one of my favorite games of all time and I would love to know how I can play this version
This 3 years old but it’s not just you, the remake isn’t as good. I’ve not played it But i have stared at screenshots and the colors of the remake aren’t as dingy and atmospheric. Smth about early GCN graphics made the original so nice. The wonky architechure, the green tint to Literally Everything, the desaturated colors, the White Lighting. The lighting specifically feels really important because the white lighting makes even the “safe” rooms feel uncomfortable, vs the yellow lightinng from the remake that feels so warm and that usually makes lighting feel cozy. This has bothered me for years. Cause the original game’s artstyle is so unique and the remake didn’t even do it justice. Heck, if Nintendo just ported it (the PAL version) the way they did 3D All stars I wouldn’t have been mad, because the game’s visuals still hold up imo
Only downside is I’ve never earned a perfect rank on the PAL version because I’m pretty sure they raised how much money you have to earn to more than the other regions, for some reason. They raised it to where it’s literally impossible in the normal mansion. That’s annoying.
You and me have a very strong feeling about Luigi’s Mansion. This is one of the Best Luigi solo games. This one and this one alone. The 2nd and third game are complete ass
I grew up with the PAL version, had no idea that other versions were any different. The flipped mansion I just always had. And yeah the 3DS version is just not the same, looks worse imo and controls way worse. I was so pissed off that it wasn't on Switch. But with LM3 and now LM2 being remade for Switch too? We might eventually get a proper remake?
Now I went to boot um my "PAL" ( 3ds dosent have a CRT so stop differanchiateing it with old TV standards ) aka EUR copy of the 3ds game and I didn't notice it was flipped and I didn't know about the "pal" aka eur differences cuz I owned a NTSC-J gamecube in Europe so I never realy noticed that
