How about: The Potential of Ruins Dummy And Their Portrayal in Fan Works? They may be seen as a joke character, (with commentary on how characters in other games are sometimes nonentities and you can have an illusion of a choice) but as with Napstablook rising from the status of test monster and Maddie's importance in the console ports, there is much that could be done with them. I myself have used the little we know of them to write several speculative roleplay versions of them, including one inspired by Storyshift's version of them- and I have grown rather fond of them through that.
@@beril6248 Yeah, Ruins Dummy is a curious case where they're almost a non-character who is only confirmed to exist for a joke. We have very little to go off of their characterization beyond tiring of aimless shenanigans and what Mew Mew tells us before her dummy fight. Even Inverted Fate kinda had to guess a lot, with them being very quiet and a lot less proactive than their cousins.
Just posted a comment that will get me hate but it was worth it. Please, at least you, Dorked, understand it's not one of hate or "marginalizing" but speaking the truth as I know it. If you think ill of me, I understand and I do hope I can be forgiven. Still, despite my personal disagreement the video was still well made and you made good content
@@Dorked I liked their characterization in Inverted Fate- it was sweet, with a good message about trying things out but ultimately being yourself. I can relate to that, as I tried on an edgy character in my youth, and then organically came to understand that I'd prefer being "cozy" and quietly accepted rather than someone on the fringes, doing things for attention. Also, that passiveness is somewhat interesting as it puts them on the scale of the ghost family where Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew are more proactive and Napstablook and the ghost in the dummy seem to prefer to stay where they are. I've been experimenting with ways my "takes" on ruins dummy communicate and interact in their settings- from the nonverbal one who speaks through letter cards, penned letters, and then airtext ala Mad Dummy's intro when they feel they need to speak up in a highstakes situation- to the one who speaks only in ghost form and playfully uses their air text to emote while inhabiting their dummy. And then there was the one that communicated verbally, even arguing with their cousin when she annoyed them, but who was more vulnerable and sensitive in quiet moments. My current variation on Ruins Dummy is quiet and prefers to pretend to just be a dummy/onlooker even in stressful situations (ex: the "looks like it's about to fall over" UT text), but has too much curiosity (and wish to ponder philosophy) to stay put when circumstances they happen to witness really get interesting.
Hopeful assumption; NAPSTABLOOK is gonna arrive in chapter 3 instead of Undyne, and we'll get a lot more subtext through them about Metta and Mad and maybe there'll be a happy resolve for the both of them by the end of the game. Napstablook really needs more development from UT anyway, they're such a loveable character (even if Undyne is so much fun)
Honestly I'm just really glad Toby took his subtle trans allegory that was the ghosts wanting their preferred bodies, and Mettaton's backstory, and finally allowed us to see the whole process in a much more personal manner, down to the detail of Mad Mew Mew using she/her pronouns, unlike when she was the Mad Dummy and still used they/them pronouns. Awesome way to show people just what it means to them to transition.
Yeah, I think it's also just really interesting how with ghosts, they start out as genderless and then may choose to seek out more gendered bodies, with the dummies seeming to be like the. "Cis" vessel for ghost monsters, if that makes sense. Ruins Dummy and Mad Dummy both use they (and it), whereas Mew Mew and MTT are more binary gendered.
@@simnm8057 _sigh_ Dude, did that really just go over your head? Yes we aren't ghosts, but Toby's use of them is an analogy for actual trans people who feel uncomfortable in their bodies.
@@simnm8057 there's a difference between simply "being uncomfortable" from time to time and "genuinely feeling sick or downright hating the body you were born with or gender you were assigned at birth," it's more than a simple discomfort typically
“I’m a HERO, and I rescued MYSELF!!!” is the most transgender line, I LOVE this angry bitch. As a trans woman myself, her dialogue and feelings are so fuckin relatable. They knocked it out of the park!!!
Mad Dummy was one of my favourite bosses and I thought she was underrated. Glad to see she's getting more love. Also. Having the Mrw Mew fight makes the Switch version the best version
For me, the fact that she didn't immediately bond with her new body after the good end feels like how I feel. I know who I am now, I'm looking more like how I want to look like, but sometimes there's still a disconnect between my brain and my body and I don't feel attached for a bit. Does that make any sense? Kinda like I'm a ghost possessing a body instead of just being me.
i remember when i first encountered mad mew mew during the postgame (i had only one last healing item, so i had to use it wisely). it took me a good while for me to realize that it was mad dummy (context clues and i barely get along). at the time, i think i was still he/him, yet i strangely liked and somewhat related to her. jump to 2021, here i am known as kristy and go by she/they. now i completely understand why i felt such back in 2018. truly an experience. tl;dr: she just like me fr fr
i think it’s pretty cool that napstablook chooses not to attempt to fuse with a dummy perhaps being an allegory for being non-binary, even though all the other ghosts besides mtt and mew mew also use gender neutral pronouns, i feel like they’re rejecting the norm of having a body as a whole rather than having an unconventional body
Yeah, I think Blooky is important in showing that ghosts don't need to change to find happiness. It's one reason why a lot of MTT and Blooky swaps fall short for me, tbh. I think Blooky being incorporeal is such an important part of who they are.
@@RGC_animation Blooky is sad because they're alone. That's why I'm really glad that you can see Napstablook in Mettaton's band in the ending of Undertale True Pacifist.
What. What? WHAT? How can your character analysis’s feel SO rewarding to watch, even if it accomplishes nothing in our lives? (Other than something to think about and appreciate :) )
The fact that the player didn't immediately recognize Mad Mew Mew as Mad Dummy was probably incredibly validating for her. God knows most trans people would move heaven and earth to achieve the same result :P
I am so happy that someone finally made a video about Mad Mew Mew, its such an interesting way to bring new life to this character and she deserves to be talked about more. I hope that in deltarune we get some type of conclusion for both Mad Mew Mew and Mettaton as in that universe they are both still ghosts and likely miserable.
@@Dorked They are both great trans representation in my opinion. Unlike most times when trans people are portrayed through a metaphore here it actually feels like something that works and does not undercut what it means to be trans. Seeing that explored even more in Deltarune would be awesome.
I don't feel that being a ghost is actually bad, it's in monster's culture the purpose of the ghosts is to find a fitting vessel, but if you are a ghost, you can equally talk, do magic, fight, you can fly, and you are free to choose whatever body you want
@@nellymurkthewitch That’s fair, but both Mettaton and Dummy seem to really like their new forms. So in that way, it would be sad for them to never experience those forms
Honestly, Toby's kind of amazing in that respect. He has such a compassionate understanding of queer identities, and it's so cool to see LGBT+ content just so... normalized in his games. They're just characters who exist and are allowed to be happy. Awesome stuff.
@@inciniumz4671 I don't see why it wouldn't be the meaning. It's really explicitly trans. She sees the Mew Mew body, immediately clicks with it, and her dialogue has a lot about her talking about how comfortable and happy she is in her new body after the battle. Both MTT and Mew Mew go from genderless pronouns as ghosts to male for MTT and female for Mew Mew. Nonbinary to binary gender is still a transition. It's allegorical, but it is still a form of coding, and in a game that has bisexual characters like Alphys (and Mew Mew as of Deltarune), multiple characters who use only they/them (including Kris), and at least two queer ships in the form of Alphyne and 01 and 02, I don't see why transness is that unreasonable.
@@Dorked But here's something to think about: if the body is what defines the gender of the character, that's either trans or just superficial. My theory given this is that the ghosts don't hold a gender, they're apparently asexual being. But they have personalities and preferences, so conceivably Mad Ghost doesn't have a true statsus as male or female until she inhabits the Mew Mew doll, a female character. And personally, don't be offneded by this, but going from nonbinary to binary isn't trans, because you still have a biological gender, you just decide not to asscoiciate with it until perhaps you go bacl to binary. Now if said person was born male but transitions to female with NB inbetween THEN it would be, but in honesty I don't understand this stuff and try not to get into it so I could very well be wrong. And yeah, the Alphyne story and (maybe?) 01 and 02 are referring to homosexuality, but for Kris, it could be said that he's always called they ingame is so it's easier for the player to fit into the character. (Kinda why I call Kris "he", you get me?) Given what you've said I have a new perspective on this. I still think it's not proven that Mad Ghost is some sort of trans allegory but I understand why you gusy think that way and respect that. Actually, you could also say Mad Ghost's character is up for interpretation, if you think about it! Like I said (but less aggressively) sometimes it's about the lens through which you view characters in any Tpby Fox game, so ultimately it's something up for intrepretation in my opinion, that doesn't mean you all can't see Mad Ghost this way, it just means different people will see and interpret her in different ways. Thanks Dorked!
@@inciniumz4671 An important aspect of Kris' character is that they are NOT you, and they don't want to be your vessel. They're canonically nonbinary, as confirmed by Toby Fox in his UT anniversary Deltarune playthrough.
Watching this made me realize how similar my transition was to Mad Mew Mew's, I used to be quick to anger a lot of the time, but nowadays I'm far calmer!
An excellent video!!! I've always loved Mew Mew so much and it makes me sad how often she gets ignored!!! And thank you so much for lifting up trans voices! ^_^
It was so important me to ask for trans voices in this video. I worried that if I didn't, it woulda felt like I was speaking for trans people instead of elevating and sharing their personal connections with the character.
I've been scraping for Mad mew mew content as of late and this video will always be my favorite, I love her in everything, her brash personality is charming, her contrasting design is really cute and the whole allegory behind her story brings her to a whole new level for me.
Thing i loved in her battle is that the moments where she fully fuses whit her body is only when she is actually happy, like when she supported alphys and undynes relationship. She's rad i adore her
I like Mad Mew Mew because it brought completion to Mad Dummy's character arc. The character was great, and I liked how they slowly added depth to them. :-)
I would be careful about referring to Mad Mew Mew as a male character considering she's a girl and with her trans coding, it's just not the best thing. Just something to be considerate of with stuff like this is all!
"She's great. I really love her boss-fight too and how it's this perfect mix of her experiencing gender euphoria, *being just genuinely excited to murder a child,* and *failing to get mad and being frustrated at that.* " -some random guy talking about trans people.
The ghosts of this game really blew my mind. Their trans story arc is just amazing and they are my favorite characters in the game. I also love that Mad Mew Mew and Mettaton have similar yet different stories. Mettaton is more ashamed of his origins (he gets rid of his old house key, if you show him the key in battle doesn't acknowledged its presence, doesn't seem comfortable discussing his ghost past..). Mad Mew Mew on the other hand doesn't have the courage to confront Blooky in the game but she's very open with Frisk. Their story in deltarune seems at a very tragic point and it breaks my heart seeing how seclusive and depressed they are (especially Mettaton but I would love to see more Mad Mew Mew in the future). Will you ever do a video on Mettaton? I've seen a lot of hot takes on him (he's too narcissist and self absorbed to be a decent and good person) but I feel like this fandom characterization is very shallow. A lot of people tend to judge him only by the king Mettaton ending (where he loses Alphys) or Burgerpant's comments. If you kill Mettaton a lot of npc are very preoccupied about his disappearance ad it seems Mettaton really cares for the strange and "unfitting" monsters. Bungerpants is a creepy character (as Mad Mew Mew says in the casino) who doesn't do his job well I don't understand why a lot of people take his world as the only truth about Mettaton's treatment of his employees. And Blooky! The fact that they don't want to became corporeal or choose a dummy vessel at all seems also an unusual choice. Man I love my trans ghosts so much 🥲
The Switch port elevated Mad Mew Mew from “one-off funny Dio dummy” to rivaling Burgerpants for my favorite supporting NPC. I _love_ how her character was fleshed out, and it really gives depth to a mini boss who, while undeniably entertaining, still came across as rather contemptible and irrelevant to the main storyline in the original release. Mew Mew, by contrast, truly feels like she _belongs_ in Frisk and co’s social circle, thanks to Toby’s knack for interconnected character relationships giving her _several_ connections to the main cast, and even the supporting cast (Napatablook and Burgerpants)! And I truly appreciate that her story arc conveys such powerful, important themes while still letting Mew Mew be… well, Mew Mew! She’s still brash, still loud, still not without her character flaws- it’s just that now, she’s finally _her._ ^_^ It truly warms my heart to see people giving Mew Mew the attention she deserves. _Mad_ respect for creating such a well-done analysis on an underrated character :)
Hey dorked just want to exclaim how much of a fan I am of not just your work but you in general. I love your videos, If, and in general In a very unsafe community a lot of times you really stand out as someone who’s a safe space. I really enjoyed your talk about the transgender meta commentary in undertale, it was such an under explored topic in my opinion and just makes me all the more happy you’re talking abt it.
Ah, thanks! It's really unfortunate that some people act like representation and shit is "cringy" or whatever when like... most of the people who complain about that stuff are not part of the groups that are excited for representation and don't understand how much it hurts to be unseen in media. Thankfully most of my comments here have been positive, but there have definitely been some bad faith and transphobic comments.
@@Dorked Aw wow I’m sorry about that, as someone who’s bi (like actually) it really sucks that a lot of ppl tend to either pander and give lip service to lgbt and also ppl who join for attention really kind of made me connect with what you’re saying here. Stay (no reference intended) determined in your stuff because I feel like undertale does lgbt representation in a way that frankly I’ve never seen another piece of media do. It’s not in big bold ways where it’s like “X character is gay” it’s more just treated like normal with undyne and alphys for example, and with mad dummy/mew mew Toby Fox and his team did something truly astounding, they made a story arc about transgenderism without making the transgenderism the whole character. There’s a ton of unique things about mad dummy/mew mew that are unique to her that aren’t just that she is trying to transition. So yeah I feel like it was the right thing totally to make this video.
Huh, i like Mew Mew, i find her interesting and hope to see more of her. However, i can’t help but to wonder about the location where you first meet her though?
Great video, and yes I love how she's just living her best life in UT but still has that love of knives. Also MAN, I didn't realize that was her at the door in Deltarune, but yeah with you pointing out the speech patterns earlier that's def her and not Mettaton. I too really hope both of them can get to a happier place in future chapters :(
This character is one of my favorites. My profile picture is an edited version of someone's interpretation of what a Sans version of mad Mew Mew would look like.
You're so welcome! :D I know Mad Mew Mew is a really important character, especially as a trans icon, and I really wanted to uplift this character and help others learn more about her.
the dummy form being genderless rather than a binary gender is such a neat choice of Toby and pretty accurate to how it feels to be pre transition imo, it feels like you are a genderless dissociating angry dead blob stuck inside a body just watching the days go by in a messy blur before you realize it doesnt have to be that way.
honestly this with the fact that Mettaton is a trans man but very feminine and very confident in himself, and with Napstablook being non-binary and using they/them pronouns, the Ghost Cousins make a perfect triad of the trans experience that I just adore as a trans demiboy 💜
Mad Mew Mew is great and with I like that Trans allegory Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew having a connection and association with being Undyne’s Training Dummy,Possessing a doll of the Character from Alphy’s Favorite Anime ,The Shrine being a run down Dog Shrine in the Nintendo Switch version despite not donating your money to make the Dog Shrine in the Nintendo Switch version and it being changed by The Annoying Dog in the Xbox port and Mad Mew Mew being at the Casino in the Xbox Version even though the Mad Mew Mew Fight isn’t in the Xbox Version,Knives,Mettaton and Napstablook all is interesting to me as that makes me thing that makes me think that Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew will have some importance in Deltarune especially with the ending of Chapter 2 and how the rest of the Chapters will play out despite Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew’s absence so far in Deltarune And yes the Trans allegory using ghost stuff is creatively good
2:55 or with frisk, chara, and kris i had a discussion with someone who insisted on referring to kris as him, becase "he's a self insert", even though that totaly clashes with the story, same with frisk and chara
Alphys: "Wow, this whole lab was so cheap, it was basically free when I took on the role of royal scientist. Wonder why..." *Her trinkets and creations on the main level appear to be possessed by trans ghosts
I'm not transfem (I'm trans nonbinary actually!) but still, I love Mew Mew so much and she honestly helped me realize I'm trans, and gotta say besides that, I just find her anger hilarious
After finally accepting I’m trans and having been grappling with this for years, I now fully appreciate how much of an impact Mad Mew Mew had on me and still has on me! Really should have payed closer attention to how I felt when I could see parallels with her and my own ideas of self
I was super happy when I found out about the new direction Toby took her character, I just love to see good trans rep. I kinda ties the whole ghost family up in a bow with mettaton being the trans-masc one, mad mew mew being the trans-femme one, and Nabstablook being the nonbinary one. Sure, there are plenty of gender neutral characters in UT but because both of their cousins are trans-binary, it really makes blooky stand out (to me at least) as one of the truly nonbinary ones. Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew both had their lifelong dreams to bond to a corporeal body (read- gender identity) whereas Blooky never felt that desire, preferring their more ethereal (read- gender neutral) existence. Maybe I’m reading that onto them as a nonbinary blooky lover, but they always felt relatable to me. I, too, lay on the floor listening to music and love snails lol.
Putting this in this vid because it fits at 6:42 I thought “why don’t I try that I know I’m a cis male but why not” then I tested they/them and he/them stuck but I wasn’t really more one of the other and my gender was constantly fluctuating between male and agender so I thought “ok I’m demiboy and I’ll just explain my gender identity” then I looked up boyflux to figure out if it was a thing then I realised it was a thing so I went by it aka this comment helped me find out I’m boyflux
I remember there was the funniest, most insane theory I've ever seen that Mad Mew Mew is the Knight from Deltarune. It's one of those ideas you throw out as a joke, but that sticks in your head for a long time. It's probably not what's going to happen, but I like to imagine her running around with her knife, causing the apocalypse for fun
theres this friend i knew in 5th grade and after not seeing her for a few years i started talking to her on discord and then she figured out she was trans and pretends to be a catgirl I think she would really like this character
I literally didn't know Mad Dummy and Mew Mew were the same person until watching this… I'm honestly surprised it took this long for me to learn but I’m glad Undertale has some trans rep Wait this video is a year old actually wtf- what rock was I living under XD
I think Mad Mew Mew and Mettaton aren't trans per se, but they are both trans allegories. Unlike humans ghosts aren't assigned any gender at "birth" (It is also good topic for discussion and theories: where skeletons and ghosts come from, since they are remains of the dead HUMANS?) but exactly like humans they dicover gender they feel most comfortable with. For example Mettaton felt the best with being a boy, Mad Mew Mew felt the best with being a girl and Naostablook propably feels the best as nonbinary. So I think ghots' journeys throught diffrent bodies is a huge trangender mataphor
I mean, deciding what your gender is, even if you start genderless...is trans, because being trans in of itself just means changing your gender. Even if it works differently in a fantasy setting, it's still changing gender and pronouns.
Uh oh. I might be in trouble... So I've got a few Undertale AUs of my own that I'm slowly piecing together, and one moment I was particularly proud of was having the human figure out how to turn Mad Dummy into Glad Dummy without having to be a murderous psycho to do it. Suddenly this video makes this supposedly feel-good moment seem like a bad end for the character. I would just change it, but it's kind of a huge moment for the story overall, and removing it disjoints the characterization in a big way... I dunno what to do about that. Is it an insult to the character to create "Glad Dummy"? She still _seems_ happy becoming corporeal in the dummy body... You'd think she'd realize "actually this isn't what I wanted" if the intent was for the Mew Mew body to be the "correct" one. Or is it simply "I'll settle for this"? I really have no idea. What do other people think? I've thoroughly confused myself on this topic in short order.
Is there no reason you couldn't accomplish something similar with Mad mew mew instead? Like maybe it's less about being happy as a dummy and more trying to find a form that can make her comfortable somehow. I think the primary concern about using Glad Dummy is that with her being so happy *as* Mew Mew and it being a body that truly resonates with her, Glad Dummy sits in a really awkward place. She says as soon as she saw the Mew Mew body, she knew it was her. She seems to really enjoy being an anime catgirl. Ultimately, it is your call, tho.
@@Dorked There may be something I can do, but most of the issue is timing. She hasn't yet met Alphys, and while I could hold off on the "making things right after the fight doesn't go her way", that still leaves a character-growth gap that's hard to explain (especially without spoiling my whole story :P). If I can find something else to pawn that same..."tactic" on, then great, I'll let Mad Mew Mew be canon whether I show it or not. If not....I don't wanna just ignore this and go through with it as planned, but I may have to. Just like how Deltarune "ruined" a different moment by naming the Amalgamates. In the end it may simply come down to "pick the lesser of two evils", but I'll keep my eyes open for a third option.
@@guyferrari8124 Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not being bullied in the least. I want to do the characters justice as much as possible, and this video is an accurate look at what the character of Mad Dummy/Mad Mew Mew is like and a pretty solid assumption on what she's meant to convey. That said, I most likely will ultimately be going with my existing idea, but perhaps I can address the character in a different way in one of my many alternate stories :D (Seriously, I have way too many story ideas. Please send help)
Interesting video. A lot of stuff I didn't know about. Also a side note. I really dislike Mad Mew Mew's soul mechanic. It only feels good when you play it with a joycon (what was ntended for the soul to be used on). It feels very weird trying to play it with a keyboard
I never realized mad mew mew was an official in universe character, and the fact she's sorta ghost trans is pretty neat. I know a lot of people who think that mettaton is trans or a trans allegory or that the ghosts finding new forms that fit them better than their given bodies is a trans allegory so it's cool that instead of ignoring it, toby actually made it sort of cannon. really cool of him, I know he's sort of a recluse and doesn't like being famous but my respect for him went up so much, he seems really cool. unlike some other... indie game devs... fnaf...
Do we ever get any pronouns for the mad ghost in either their dummy or mew mew forms? Because I cannot quite remember if that was the case. Oh, apparently we do.
Huh. I never looked into Mad Mew Mew because it was extra content, but this is really cool. I already liked Mad Dummy a lot since it's a very fun battle, but happy knife crazy trans cat girl is just such a mood.
LOVE this video Mew Mew is so good! (Its a shame that its switch exclusive i feel more people need to experience it) Man honestly the Alarm clock stories are so like detailed i wish they were just animated shorts like I wouldve loved the Mtt Vs Mew chainsaw fight and then after having like the emotional moment LMaooo like imagine mew mew just with this huge dress just like going at it with a chainsaw loll. Side note: Random thought but alot of the people who said gender was interprative just never sat right with me? even when i didnt even know what gender was all about it was just wierd to assume that when like usually a game will ask you to choose. I def see it as intentional for Frisk to be Non binary tho . Also I kinda forget if Napstablooks pronouns were updated or not like if they were misgendered ingame accidently?
It was actually the artbook that misgendered them and Monster Kid, but, crucially, the artbook was fixed so that the pronouns were corrected back to they/them!
I find the LGBTQ+ community very interesting, especially regarding transgender and non-binary identities. In the recent years I've kinda "fallen in love" with the idea of non-binary characters, I love the "they/them" pronouns so much for some reason, maybe just coz it's so different from the typical "she/her" and "he/him". Some years back, I wrote a fantasy story about dragons that can turn into humans, I wanted 3 main characters to go on an adventure together, coz y'know 3 is the standard, with my main character being female, and initially I wanted the other two characters to both be male. But at the same, I didn't like how often trios in anime and cartoons often consist of 2 boys and 1 girl (various Transformers cartoons, Ben 10 and so on), but I also didn't really see one of the two others as a girl. So I decided to make them something in-between. This was back when I was like 15-16 or something and didn't know about non-binary identity at all, nor did I know of the "they/them" pronouns, so I ended up deciding my 3rd main character would be genderless, as in literal because it was also before I understood you could identify as neither or both or all genders regardless of your sex. And I also ended up having to come up with pronouns for this character on my own, coz I didn't know about "they/them" yet. I ended up deciding on "sha/sher/shim", I wanted to make a combination of she/he but that's impossible coz "she" is just "he" with an "s" in front, so I decided on the mentioned instead. I still kinda like those pronouns, and maybe I'll even use them in one of my stories (coz I ended up kinda giving up on that story after 7 or 9 chapters because someone said it felt too RPG-like for a book). But now that I am older and know about "they/them" and of non-binary identity, and I decided to put that genderless character from my old story into my new story that I am working on now, initially the character would be male again, but now that I remembered his past, I realized he can be non-binary, so I have at least 2 non-binary characters in my story, which I am very happy with! :D I don't know why I love the non-binary identity so much, I don't actually identify as non-binary myself, I identify as female which makes me cis, but I love the idea of trans and non-binary existing, same with lesbian, gay, bi, pan and other sexualities, personally I am aromantic-asexual, so I feel no attraction to other people of any kind, but I can still understand how other people can be attracted to other people and still find some people/characters aesthetically pleasing, like Kaeya from Genshin Impact, who I've heard is basically a bi-icon, and I totally believe it. It was probably mostly thanks to Undertale and Deltarune actually that I really learned about non-binary identity and learned to accept that some people identify as "they/them" even though they are just 1 person, coz I couldn't figure out if Frisk was a boy or a girl, or if Chara was a boy or a girl. For a while I thought of Chara sorta as a girl because of the name, and Frisk as a boy, also because of the name, but eventually I decided to embrace the "they/them" pronouns as their identities, and I find the humans of Undertale/Deltarune so much more interesting because of that. I also find it kinda funny that when fighting Mad Dummy, I do usually think "he" because of how angry they are, but then turns out they identify as "she", so like a really angry anime girl is what I imagine now when fighting Mad. I also love Undertale and Deltarune a lot more after discovering how LGBTQ+ friendly the games are.
When she bonds with the dummy in the genocide run, she's not happy about the body, she's happy she finally bonded with a body. I think that's an important distinction.
Just wanted to feel 'normal.' God, I salute anyone who finds their way through gender dysphoria in these sad times. I'm gonna keep helping in any small way I can; you all have friends out there rooting for you!
I think for them, any body is better than none, but the catgirl body is better than the dummy body. I mean even Mettaton doesn't have his preferred body, but it's just "good enough" which is a thing from what I've seen. You can't always have a perfect body, and that's ok and should be understood!
