Corruption is a bane for many countries. Malaysia happens to be the focus here, and yes it is bad. But it is bad in many other countries too. The first priority of any government is to root out corruption. Seriously, and genuinely, not like how some countries use "anti-corruption" to persecute their political rivals and secure power. Malaysia can be strong (it has been in the past), but corruption, in all aspect of the government, not just the military, has weakened it. Hopefully, the Anwar government will do Malaysia right.

That's loads of crap...we are not protected by anyone .If you refering to the FPDA its an agreement where the signatories aren't necessarily have to oblige to help if one member is attacked by a foreign power but are allowed to if necessary. Although corruption is the main cause for the weaken defense ability and capability of Malaysia, but still the major issue lies in allocated budget per year for the defense sector to spend. Yearly, Malaysia only averagely allocated its 1-2% of GDP for defense spending/expenditure, that’s roughly a RM2 billions. What can one expect to buy or purchase with such pocket money 💰 for a year? 😂 For all the past decades, Malaysia never prioritized or focused on its defense sector as a whole, Malaysia would rather spend or allocate budgets on other stuffs and make defense the least important thing to be concerned about. And general Malaysian public doesn’t care much about our own military or defense strength as well. That’s why it leads to a lot of problem, scandal, corruption and mismanagement to occur in the first place. One thing leads to another. Also due to the past government weak leadership in governance. Malaysia had a very strong military with huge budget but they have smartly channeled most of the defence budget for development and reduce the military spending. Malaysia has taken a tactical approach to weigh in the new world order and take advantage of the UN existence. In case of any invasion of Malaysia, UN will interfere and kick the invaders out as what happened to Iraq during the Kuwait invasion. As such spending for defence is a total waste of tax payers money.
What’s better than asking for UN interference, which is laughable already. Deterrence is better than that. Asking for help means you’re already suffering an attack which cost human lives and money, to rebuild etc… but DETERRENCE avoids all of that.
