Here's something I don't get: Alcohol does way more damage than marijuana ever will, and at one point, the government banned alcohol. But then a riot came, and they vetoed it. Meanwhile, when riots over decades come, government ignores it and says "no." Marijuana is proven no effect over long-term use to the lungs, and only slight problems in brain over long-term use, meanwhile alcohol does everything marijuana does, and 10x worse. Legalize it.
I think that marijuana is perfectly alright in moderation. When you are under the influence of weed, you tend to not care a lot about other things, so smoking it all the time would inhibit you from functioning properly. However, if you're just sitting at the house by yourself or with friends and you have nothing better to do, go for it. According to "Understanding Marijuana", written by Dr. Mitch Earleywine, there is no such thing as amotivational syndrome(marijuana-induced apathy). None of the studies presented in the book showed a significant increase in apathy among college students or primates that smoked the marijuana. It depends on the person. Deal with it!

THC does activate the CB1 receptors in our brains, and activation of these receptors is associated with memory impairment. Of course, it depends on how much marijuana you smoke. We need to grow our marijuana to have a balance of THC and CBD. CBD antagonizes the CB1 receptor. Thus, neutralizing any agonists(like THC) that bind to the CB1 receptor. However, it depends on the CBD:THC ratio in the marijuana. CBD may not neutralize the psychoactive high entirely, but you'll feel a nice body buzz.

Its not bad but there are some things that arent good about it like decreasing magnesium levels (easily fixed for those who know) Worsening some underlying mental problems, paranoia (brought on by the user them selves). But the positive out way the negatives by far. Make it legal and you will see the society change for the best.
Will legalizing marijuana help people with epilepsy? I have heard it will help decrease seizures. Have had very bad seizures and even surgery didn't stop them. Still take a lot of medicine. Would love to be able to stop having seizures.
You should look up the story of a little girl named Charlotte Figi. The youngest person given medicinal marijuana to. She had roughly 300 seizures a week, and her parents tried everything to get it to stop. They turned to marijuana and her seizures stopped. I would definitely look into it. What he said at the end "I want to legalize it because it's dangerous" could be true to an extent. When you buy it on the street, there is a very small potential that it could be laced with something. If it's legal we don't have to worry about that. I buy my stash from very close and trusted friends, so I don't have to worry about that. But it would be nice if I can go to a regular tobacco shop and buy it legally, and won't have to be considered a criminal at the same time.

I don't agree with him that marijuana is dangerous, I believe that it should be legalized because of its beneficial properties. Veterans with PTSD, severe anxiety cases, and even just general aches and pains can be eased by marijuana's calming effects. Too many people are quick to judge and don't take the time to understand what this plant can do for people. There is still so much research to be done, and the government should not hold our country back when this could be a huge medical and social advancement for America. Legalize, take the business away from the drug cartels. I have no friends and live in an illegal state, so I can't find weed. I would rather smoke alone anyways. Whenever I get stressed out, I binge on cigarettes and alcohol. If alcohol was less "traditional" in west European culture, I can guarantee you that it would be illegal today. I really wish the human population was more open to foreign things and ideas, it's really sad that marihuana must be such a taboo when tobacco and alcohol is probably way worse. Also you can't really die by marihuana, unless you take 40,000 times the normal dose. Alcohol however, is easy to overdose on. Alcohol doesn't have to be illegal though, I love my beer :3
REXFORGT Any substance one puts in their system can have varying effects per person. Not everyone is the same or has the same reaction. Anything that effects blood pressure and heart rate, as marijuana most definitely does, has the potential to be hazardous to some people. I have known a couple people who ended up in the hospital because they got stoned and had a seriously bad reaction to it. No, there was no adulterant in the weed as is so often claimed. No others who were smoking same weed had same bad reaction. Just those people. It is not a completely safe drug as is so often claimed. It also contains some of the exact same carcenogenic chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Alcohol can be even worse no doubt, when abused that is. I still however believe that when used ressponsibly, alcohol is still less harmful to the body and mind than marijuana.

It's less addictive than alcohol, tobacco, alot of prescription drugs, and even caffeine. It also has never caused cancer in anyone, and in fact, marijuana smokers have less cancers than people who smoke nothing at all.

We would have to define "drug". Drug from the old dictionary means "dried herbs". Does sugar or caffeine fall under that definition? No. The pharma industry has redefined the word to put their own meaning to it and to use it to their advantage and goal. They can decide what is a drug and what is not. So, now they classify sugar, caffeine, and marijuana in the same way. Yet not alcohol.Go figure! In an objective discussion, the word "drug" should be avoided. Instead use Psychedelic substance.
You are right, and it does not have any side effects unlike Vicodin! There are many other reasons to legalize it, one is that if it is under some control, kids could not simply buy it and sell it to their friends. No dealer asks how old a child is when he sells his drugs. He is more likely to offer kids stronger substances where he can make more money and get the kids hooked. That is the main problem with anything that is under prohibition.
Anything in excess is bad. If you play video games all day you can't function. I can't study calculus high, some can, good for them. Since I can't, I don't smoke marijuana when I'm about to study. You can't prohibit grown ups from using stuff, it's beneath us regarding our other accomplishments as a highly evolved species, especially if by using whatever it is you're not jeopardising other people (*cough* alcohol). i know i have seen the youtube video of the news report. i think he and his wife ate an 8th of good bud between them in one sitting. i always interpreted the "i think we're already dead" bit to mean he thinks the overdose they have taken is imminently fatal. which is of course so unlikely that it hardly needs mentioning. but he was very likely so high that it cannot be determined exactly what he meant. i support cannabis legalization. but it is possible to be too high for comfort.

They brought me into the back of the car for absolutely no reason at all, threatened to bring me into the station for questioning about nothing. Then the asked me if I did drugs, and without hesitation, I pulled out a bag containing 2 grams. They laughed, took me out the car, dumped the weed and drove off.
Yes, you do have to go through a background check for a handgun. As a matter of fact, I had to wait 3 days for my .45 ACP because there was some sort of delay on the background check when I bought it. And on the Cannabis legalization: Its not completely outlawed here anymore. 2states have full legalization and even the complete prohibition states often dont arrest people anymore for small amounts. Cops are FINALLY seeing that its a waste of time and money:)

The real issue with shootings is the mental health of our overall society and the pharma drugs these people are on. All these mass shooters were on SSRI's. more than likely? the odds of you developing schizophrenia are about 20% if you have a parent who suffers from the condition, and we do not know whether the condition is genetic, so it is quite possible that anyone who doesn't have a genetic predisposition to the condition could not develop it at all, so in summary, your diagnosis in this regard isn't based on the current extent of medical knowledge in the feild.
I don't believe in legalizing it, it should not be illegal, God put a plant with so many uses, which grows on every continent of our world, for our use. It is our responsibility to learn to use it properly. It and all God given plants should be removed from the Controlled Substance Act. Not Legalized or De-criminalized, but not subject to government CONTROL !!! Let man use it or not for Life(curing illness,food,textiles,etc.)

there is no evidence that i am aware of that cannabis is harmful let alone lethal, whereas, as i have pointed out, it is well documented by the world health organization that alcohol is lethal in millions of cases annually, so unless you have any evidence that cannabis is harmful, i am confident that i have proven the very simple premise that cannabis is less harmful than alcohol conclusively, whether you accept it or not.

First off i live in California its at the officers indiscretion if its for personal use or being sold. I see no use in making marijuana illegal when tobacco is legal. Screw politics, Cannabis should be legalized no matter what party line you believe. It is one of the most beneficial and least dangerous drugs known to human-kind. The presidents only stated that they tried marijuana, so it's not very significant. Where's the proof that the abusers outnumber the moderates? Millions drink moderately, while only a few hundred thousand actually abuse it.
@starbobpizza About 12 million americans smoke pot regularly and have jobs. How are they not productive members of society? Complaining is what they should do. The presidents can smoke pot and get away with it. Other people smoke and get their lives ruined. It's not right. And yes alcohol can be used in moderation but the people who do it just to get drunk far outnumber moderate users. Can't people smoke a joint on the weekend and be responsible like those who drink a beer or two?
@mattdabig41 Because dependence takes up one's time when they could be productive members of society. It's your choice to smoke, but don't complain if you do get caught and punished for it. You can drink one beer and not get drunk, but you can't smoke one joint without getting high. Not to mention, many studies in Europe proves that moderate alcohol consumption promotes longevity of life compared to non-alcohol drinkers. I would rather have a productive father than a pathetic stoner
@starbobpizza Let's say there is a level of addiction to marijuana. Why does that matter? It's my choice to smoke isn't it? What about the people who get drunk every night? It's their choice to drink and alcohol is perfectly legal but easily 100 times worse in terms of health and addiction. Give one good reason why alcohol should be legal and marijuana should be illegal? I would just like to add that nobody gets stoned and beats their wives.

Although I believe relationships shouldn't be based on what the individual does, but how they feel, it's no reason to end your relationship if you both truly care, ya know? Smoke herb if you please, and if he loves you, he'll live with it.
@dkoribag1 Sure you did...A lot of people aren't affected by this economic collapse, mate. Still, many others are, and it is a shame. Anyway, pot prevented you from being what you could truly be, and it's a shame that you have to use a drug to lead a "happy" life. It's a shame that drug dealers ruins the lives of millions by corrupting our youth to smoke pot, eat a lot, and play World of Warcraft. Tis' a shame, really. Have you read any peer-reviewed medical journals? Get educated for real!
