I kinda get that impression as head-canon for Mario. In the main adventures where his Universe or lives can be at stake, he’s often happy or just determined, but while he’s playing Soccer, he’s super angry, is going all out, and pulls out a random new form or wall jumping on the air so he can score a point 🤷🏿‍♂️

Dude no like I second this wholeheartedly. Qnd it's mainly because the Sonic community in general care way more about vs debates than Mario fans. Like they scale Sonic to Goku which is just straight bull LMAO. And I have responses to a lot of the other guy's remarks because I enjoy his content, I REALLY do, but there's a lot of stretches he makes for Sonic which just don't add up, while also not knowing nearly enough about Mario to properly represent him in a VS debate.

In comparison to sonic's enemies that example really isn't much. I'm going to use a 23 year old enemy at a big l o w b a l l. Perfect chaos is taller than a 7 story building and 7 story buildings are about 80-120 feet tall. He's at least faster than light because sonic has lightspeed shoes (not counting super sonic) and he's at least planetary due to the chaos emeralds existing being able to split up the earth and him being able to fight super sonic would make him at least near that level. In sonic generations the same perfect chaos gets MANHANDLED by base sonic. Mind you sonic is 3'3 and he just did that in his base form.

A lot of Sonic fans seem to forget that Mario is canonically a demi-god (He's one of the 7 Star Children, meaning that he was basically born gifted). Also, when Mario is facing Gods/God-like opponents, he's in his base form for all of them, and is usually on his own.

Fair point and it's definitely something I considered. In the official guide, it's stated the Luma's main ability is helping Mario survive the harsh conditions of deep space, and his spin attack. In the game, whenever the Luma's powers are activated, like the chain stomp and the spin attack, the Luma leaves Mario's cap to recharge. Anything else, like his regular ground pound, and strength feats stay consistent with things he's pulled off without Luma. From lifting/destroying castles and boulders without breaking a sweat, to consistently being in the center of devastating attacks without being remotely harmed, it's easier to assume that those are his feats separate from Luma's influence.

Okay, I’ll have to say no way is Mario beating Archie Sonic.

@DreaguiVIII dunno if this really changes your mind, but Mario has shown to be able to time travel through his own means (Mario’s Time Machine, the Pipe Man in Yoshi’s island), and was born with his power whilst under Yoshi’s protection. And would Sonic know where Mario as a baby is? He ain’t omniscient, so I’m not sure where he would know to go. And even then he uses Time Warp Plates in most if not all instances he does time travel with his speed.

Well, I always figured they were different versions. Not only does Paper Jam show that they're different, but even games before it imply that they're different. If 3d Mario was the same as PM, he wouldn't be able to fold up his body like in TTYD and entering the 3rd dimension in Super Paper Mario wouldn't have been a big deal. Besides, he still probably scales physically, and he doesn't need PM feats to win, unlike Sonic needing Archie or Fleetway feats to win.

This is a long one, read if you want. Firstly, the first time Mario turns into electricity, he obviously hadn't mastered it, hence why he consistently hit his face and eventually crashed. If that perception were an ability given by BEING electricity, it would have been easy his first try. He had to learn that himself. Secondly, he's always dodging things like lightning and cannonballs which from his perspective, move REALLY slow. During cutscenes, cannonballs are shown to move really fast, even with Mario Bros U making them outright unseeable during the opening custcene Lastly, in Mario + Rabbids KB, Mario has an ability unique to him called "Hero's Sight" an ability that says due to all Mario's previous adventures, he has a sharp eye to see things moving in slower motion. While M+RKH isn't canon to the main series, it IS considered a "What If" possibility by the game's director. Which means the character's canon rules and world would tie closely to the main universe regardless. Hope this helps! :)

Certain characters and beings appearing only in those games happens in mainline games and those could be considered canon, so I don’t see why a spin-off doesn’t count. Cappy definitely helps at least somewhat in controlling the enemies Mario becomes, because he is able to control things that don’t even have methods of movement, like manhole covers or poles.

Well, Firstly, in base form Sonic doesn't exceed or even reach the speed of light without charging up a lightspeed attack. Even still, Mario has around lightspeed reaction time, (due to the reasons I mentioned in the video) so the chances of Sonic actually being able to take a power up from Mario is low. Even still, Mario has bottomless glove, so he can store however many power ups he'd need for any given reason. Also while movie Super Sonic and Archie Ultra Sonic can make wishes, canon game Sonic cannot and has never been shown to have that ability

Paper Mario took out Super Dimentio himself, and just had help weakening the shield, and Paper Mario’s help was in base form, as opposed to Super Sonics help also being in Super form. They also couldn’t breach Solaris’ armor and had Elise blow out his flame. 2. Miyamoto confirmed that it’s always the same Mario in all his appearances, similarly to Mickey Mouse. 3. Sonics strength comes from striking force, Mario has used physical lifting strength instead of speed-to-force, and Sonics durability outside of withstanding the impact of how hard he attacks isn’t as great as Mario’s, and by that logic, Mario’s body withstands the force he would need to use to Ground-pound meteorites back at Grand Star Bowser in Mario Galaxy 2. 4. Mario can survive lava in almost every 3D game he’s in, and the lava is just a bottomless pit substitute in 2D Mario games. He survives Lava dragons that are actually trying to harm him in those games anyway. And Sonic doesn’t survive anything with rings, that’s a gameplay mechanic goofy. Sonic doesn’t have rings fly out of him when he gets hit in canon cutscenes, and Sonic has been canonically killed before, while Mario hasn’t. 5. Mario doesn’t need to stack power-ups when he can just cycle between them. And when are YOU gonna wake up and realize Mario could give himself an OP power-up, and Make it invincible with the Star, and then clone himself with the Double Cherry so he can outnumber Sonic and not lose any of his power-ups. And Mario’s RPG item, the “Bottomless gloves” can let him endlessly reapply the power-up without physically bringing them out. 6. If Super Sonic could really create Black Holes (which we have NEVER see him do) Mario only succumbs to Black Holes in game. He survived the pressure and presence of a Supernova in a canon Mario Galaxy cutscene that was much bigger than the ones he loses to in-game, and he’s perfectly capable to surviving them and out swimming them in Mario Party’s “Black Hole Boogie”. 7. Sonic wouldn’t need the help of Sage, Light Gaia, Shadow + Silver, Classic Sonic, and more in his Super fights if chaos emeralds really had limitless power. And Chaos emeralds are capable of having their power drained and needing it restored in Sonic Unleashed, and that process would take forever if their power was truly “limitless/unlimited”. 8.Mario has reacted to things while traveling at Mach 375, and getting launched out of stars that send him flying many times above the speed of light. Sonic winning no diff is bias from the guy who called Mario a simp, and has a Sonic discord server. And White Tanooki Mario lasts longer than Super Sonic does. Sonic can’t stay in that form forever, and it will eventually run out like it does every time, but Mario’s White Tanooki lasts forever.

As someone who also loves both series equally and owns almost every main entry in each respective franchise, for the most part it was paramount that I left out super intricate details to make a broader point. Even if I added in something like Mario's alleged super nova feat, or scaled Sonic to the power of someone like Solaris, a lot of those points would either be reaching, or doesn't change the main point of the video. The point wasn't to downplay either, or go over every last feat, but to say what I think of the matchup overall.

All of Mario's feats are pretty much in his base form with the only exception of Bowser's Fury. If anything the power ups basically work as ability enhancers to his already insane capabilities.

He's used it to move matter in the past I.E himself from certain doom and the ark from crashing into earth but canonically it's not in his arsenal. There are other dire moments in the canon he COULD'VE used it but has shown he wouldn't. Like when he was jumped in Forces. -Secondly, Mario wouldn't need to go to grab a power up since in most instances a fully prepared Mario has them in his arsenal to which Sonic doesn't -Lastly, something being said and something being shown are two different things. Dude, if Sonic is using the Chaos Emeralds with him for Super Sonic in a fight like this, he's gonna use all of the abilities he has in his arsenal and that includes Chaos Control. I pictured the Fight like in a Battlefield scenario where the items and powerups for them would be right in front of them and they'd each have to grab their own one.
